I just don't understand. someone please help me

Kevin, I guess I goofed up. What I should have done is start a new thread and ask a simple question of the DIS owners if/when is the app going to be ported to the other platforms. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry if I offended you or anyone else with what I wrote.

I just love how he has a problem with everything that is done and always ends up apologizing for possibly offending someone. Wouldn't it be easier to just let it go than try to stir up stuff all the time? I rarely see anyone argue on here until I see your screenname. As someone else stated why don't you try to start over and don't try to stir up so much controversy.

Who cares if it's the flavor of the minute? If you were an Apple user, you would be having the exact same reaction to this if they had chosen to release the app on another kind of phone.

And I certainly don't see the iPhone as the flavor of the minute. I've had the first generation phone since it's release. It's a pretty popular device and it's now been around for several years.

I don't understand why you keep coming here. I really don't. You never have anything positive to say about anyone affiliated with the podcast or about their business choices. While I don't agree with every little thing they say or do, I don't relish in the negativity and post about it over and over and over again. There are better ways to ask your questions than how you've addressed them here on this forum. If you don't like it...then leave. Makes perfect sense to me...

I'm done...I've said my peace. Folks...the ignore button is a beautiful thing. :thumbsup2

Business sense, I don't know. It seems like it is more the 'flavor of the minute' response. There are many more millions of Windows Mobile phones that are out there compared to the iphone. That makes more business sense to me, especially not having to deal with a middle company for distribution. Isn't that the reason the Disney Company has it's own distribution company for their films?

If 3 years of selling tons of phones to all types of users is the flavor of the minute to you, that's fine. I disagree.

Blackberry would be my 2nd pick simply for the mass of users, but most of them are business users. Still, you'll probably pick up a good number. After that I'd look at WinMo (still lots of business users), and Android 4th.

If all you wanted was an answer to your question for a DIS OWNER why didn't you just email them off line (the have iPhones, they get their email everywhere just like BB owners) instead of posting it on the boards for all to respond?? :confused3

Ooooh, I have the PERFECT cake for this one! :3dglasses

Because people have been conditioned to the 99 cents or free apps, anything more than a dollar is astronomical.

There is only one thing I wanted to add to this which someone not using iTunes may not be familar with. If you look at the app's user reviews on many of the free or .99 apps that also have ads, many of the reviews say the user would be happy to pay more for the app so as not to have an ad running. (I'm one of those people) I'm sure that was considered with the price.

That's all I got to say about that.

Let there be cake!

If the number of users was the sole criteria then the iPhone would be 4th behind Symbian, RIM (aka Blackberry), and Windows Mobile.

I'm sure the DIS did their research and determined that the iPhone was the platform that would have the greatest ROI for the first generation of their app. Perhaps their next one will be on Blackberry, perhaps it will be Operating System Agnostic and run as a web app (my preference), and perhaps it will always be iPhone only.

As far as the price, it is what it is. If the price is too high for anyone they will not purchase it, just like with everything in the free market. While I agree that 99 cents is the de-facto price for apps it is more and more common to purchase higher cost apps. It just depends on what you want. I know people on different platforms that will only use free apps, others that will only pay up to 99 cents, and others that will buy an app they see as a value regardless of price. The value of anything is determined by the purchaser. I paid a lot of money to go cycle around Italy while others would see that as work instead of fun. That doesn't mean it wasn't a value to me.

wdwowner, there is no reason to attack the podcasters or the DIS when you don't agree with them. There are ways to respectfully disagree but everything you post sounds so confrontational. If there was a DIS report card I'm afraid you would get an unsatisfactory in "plays well with others". The bottom line at the moment is that it is an iPhone app and if that is something you are interested in get it. If it is not then don't. I can understand asking if the app is going to be ported to other mobile operating systems but to come on here and get snarky about it is uncalled for and not accomplishing anything.

Why include ads on the message boards or blogs or wdwinfo.com pages? Web pages have limited room too.

So that there CAN be message boards or blogs or wdwinfo.com pages. Servers and bandwidth cost money.

I would much rather pay for the app and eliminate ads, the screen is only so big.

I am beginning to see that you are on this board and only bit, er complain about everything.

Really dude, if you are that miserable with this place, why do you not go where you are happy?

You are contributing nothing of value to this place and only taking up the bandwidth that you are speaking of when others who actually enjoy this place and life as well could be using that bandwidth.

I hope you only the best and I will pray for you.

May happiness find you soon.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Me! Me! Me! I have an idea!

How about we stop complaining about things that people like and move on with our lives?

Better yet, it's time to play....the ABC game!

A is for Apple iPhones.

E is for Email Show.. I missed it this week but totally understand you guys are busy!!

First of all, I would like to congratulate the team for their work on this app. From the sounds of it, it was a great collaborative effort.

As for porting iPhone apps to other phones, it's not nearly as easily done as porting software to other Os'es. Not only do you need to start from scratch programming-wise, but you would have to adapt the app for each type of phone.

There's only one iPhone, or at least one current model, so programming for it is a lot easier, as you know the exact specs of every device that it is going on. There are many current versions of Blackberry's, and even more versions of Windows mobile phones, each with their own unique hardware and software specifications. Creating an app that works on all current Blackberries would be next to impossible if you wanted to keep the "iPhone like experience".

Also, iPhone people are generally much more willing to spend $$ on apps. It's a high end luxury item, and the people who use these are much more likely to spend their money on extra toys for their phones.

Do I think 4.99 is to much for an iphone app? No. Is it more then the average app? Yes.

The one thing I find kinda hypocritical is the podcast goes off on Disney all day long about "nickle and Diming the consumer" yet this could be looked at as the same thing.

I understand why the price is set at 4.99, businesses need to make money. I also understand why Disney ups there price and looks for new ways to make money.

I am looking forward to the app.

I am interested to know how useful the app will be without data. Being from Canada, I turn off my data as soon as I cross the boarder. Since this app uses google maps, will I be able to have stored information on my phone without needing to connect?

G is for Genius.

Oh, and blue Glyphwing

How are they nickle and dimeing us???? They don't charge for us to listen to the podcast and they don't charge us to use the disboards. They gave us a FREE party last year at Hollywood Studios. So if you have to pay a measly 5.99 for an app that there is no telling how many hours went into making I don't think that is a big deal let alone nickle and dimeing us.
