What did you forget to bring, do, or buy in your trip to Disney World?

No disrespect meant but I wouldn't do this most especially for a trip to WDW. If you aren't doing these already you have no idea how your body will handle them.

I still remember when I foolishly, without medical advice, thought "oh I'll do women's one a day vitamins" and then got horrible severe stomach pain. Turns out it's a common side effect on the iron content of it and if you already consume enough iron in your diet it can do more harm than good. There are people who consume too much vitamins for their body and it has negative health consequences when doing so something of which in the U.S. we have a problem with taking supplements without the advice or direction of our doctors.

On a probiotic that's messing with your gut and it's not the time to test out how your body handles it between possible bloating, gas and upset stomach. Even 2 weeks out.

Plus you don't know a person's medical situation so recommending something like this IMO while I'm sure you're thinking well it's just not something I would recommend doing. It may be necessary for you but completely unnecessary for someone else to do it (or they may be taking stuff already based on their personal health). It's also overkill IMO for a trip to WDW .
The probiotic advice actually came from my kid's pediatrician, she recommended the entire family doing it. OP can take it or leave it, I found it valuable.

The basic message was just to do your best to take care of yourself up to and during the trip.

Yes and that's your kid's doctor giving medical advice to your kid and your family, of course you'd find it valuable if your doctor was giving you personally advice. Not a internet stranger giving advice to someone.

As far as the basic message sure I get that but that may not be taking someone's medical advice which could land anyone who does take it without the medical consultation of their doctor to end up not actually taking care of themselves during their trip. Hopefully you can see how that can easily become dangerous or the person end up with unpleasant side effects rather than a nonchalant "take it or leave it".

I know it sounds abrupt but it's just a trip to WDW not something someone needs to take on a new medical regiment for (who should talk with their doctor anyhow). I agree about hydration although they should get a break in temps, if it was summer into early fall I'd double down on that advice as it can be easier and quicker to get dehydration in the high heat and humidity especially on a person's first trip who excitedly is taking it all in but forgets to keep the hydration going

Life teaches us lessons. When you have a 1.5 yr old running amok in the airport while you're attempting to move items from one overweight bag to another, with your bags opened up and your dirty laundry on display, all while holding up the line growing behind you, then yes, you get home and search for a good luggage scale. :guilty: :thumbsup2
Okay, I have to stop and tell a story. My dh and I had just gotten married. This was my second and his first. We split our honeymoon to include time with my kids. We took a train from New Jersey to New York City. We are standing on the platform with all these people around us. My dh opens our luggage to search for who knows what. Pulling things out left and right. I was so embarrassed. Then he takes our luggage over to the tracks to dump out water that leaked into our luggage. He proceeds to dump my good Jean skirt on the tracks. Totally mortified at this point. He thinks he is going to jump down to get it. Security informed him otherwise.

After your story and thinking of mine, I think I will get that scale for sure. I could just see my dh pulling out my unmentionables for all the world to see in the middle of the Orlando airport. 🤣🤣🤣

If you're prone to blisters or think you may get them bring some stuff for that. You can easily get that at Walmart while you're down there if you have a car but if not bring some with you in a bag you'll be bringing in the park. Try and switch shoes if you can so you don't wear the same shoe day in and day out.

Portable chargers for your phones (bring those in the park). A DISer friend uses Fuel Rods which can be purchased at the park but was frequently going to a machine to swap it out so they didn't have the most capacity. But if you're just wanting something for just WDW you can purchase at the parks. We always have portable chargers when we travel and so we just bring those.
I would have loved this one if I could have!! In this day and age of tech, portable charges are a must have. Adding to the list of things to purchase.

Yes, this 100%. On one of my trips years ago, I tried a new flax seed brand...........let's just say I got lucky - but it was close :scared::teeth: I use it daily - but the new brand gave me an almost immediate reaction.

It is very good. I would start taking it a few days/a week prior so your stomach adjusts to it - that goes with almost any new medication/new shoes, etc. etc. :)

Another strong recommendation to bring any and all OTC meds and remedies. The shops at WDW have very little, and as the saying goes: it's better to have and not need than to need and not have. I got sick there once, ordered stuff from Amazon and they cancelled my order with some lame excuse, so don't rely on delivery. I would have traded 5 Lightning Lanes for a Nyquil!

I sometimes forget to bring a couple $ store plastic hangers so I can hang dry a few things from the bathroom shower curtain rod.

I also bring a small bottle of Downey Wrinkle Release. 30 seconds to make a tee shirt look more polished.

Dr Scholl's Moleskin and a $ store scissor (only in checked luggage). Name brand only on this one!

Mini packs of pain relief ($ store has them) to slip in my bag.

Large zip bag with a few small zip bags, a couple large bags, a few wooden clothespins (close snacks), fresh sharpie and a small stack of sticky notes. Zip bags are good for leftovers or dirty or damp laundry for the trip home.

I miss these items if I forget to pack! :crazy2:

Edit to add Bombas or Smart Wool ankle socks. Cotton just doesn't cut it in the parks!

Things we didn't bring and then wished we had...sun screen, pain relief and a thermometer.

On our last trip, one of my dogs broke one of his claws, that thing bled for 2 days, we now have a doggy first aid kit.

I now pack everything we could possibly have a need for, but we drive not fly.

Thermometer!!! Amazing idea especially since my daughter will run an extreme temperature when she gets sick. Thank you!!

Bring some whatever type of childrens medication you would use, Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec. On our first trip we found out our daughter had allergies to some type of plant in Florida, had never had that issue at home. We ended up having to order all of those things from Walmart+.

Not sure how old your kids are but at the beginning of the trip I had a Walmart order delivered with familiar snacks, small breakfast items and boxes of Horizon milk for our daughter. She loved being able to eat right away in the morning and not having to wait on everyone getting ready and then picking up food.

I try to remind myself that all I really need is my phone, my wallet, and my glasses.

If necessary, I could buy just about anything else when I'm there, assuming I am willing to use a company that does delivery to the hotel (Instacart, Doordash, etc.). I don't rent a car, so I could Uber to a store, but I prefer not to do that.

However...

Keep in mind that Disney only sells certain brands on property. If you have sensitive skin and prefer a certain sunscreen, bring it. If you like a particular Chapstick-like item with SPF, bring it. Don't assume that you will be able to find what you like in a store on Disney property.

Same for sodas - Disney sells Coke products, not Pepsi products.

My kids are 19 and 27. Still trying to decide what is the best avenue to take regarding breakfast. I’m a huge breakfast person, but everyone else will just grab something and go.

Re: probiotics, and not to beat a dead horse... I think understanding the "mechanics" of how they work could help you decide whether to take them or not. From what I understand, they kill off harmful bacteria to repopulate the gut flora with beneficial bacteria. Part of that process is often GI discomfort, gas, bloat, etc. There are different types and strengths of probiotics as well.

While I actually have her on ignore, I decided to peek into what she was saying on this matter, and I hate to admit it, but I do somewhat agree with her. She knows everything, though.

Last trip, I thought I brought good shoes, and I didn't. My feet were in so much pain! I went to the running store in Disney Springs and spent way too much on insoles that didn't help. I ended up ordering a pair of shoes from Amazon ($54) to the hotel, and despite not being broken in, they saved the rest of my trip. They actually didn't require any break-in, thank goodness.

Hi all!

I have two weeks until we leave for my first ever Disney World trip!!! So excited!!
As I sit here and make lists of things to do, buy, or bring I can’t help thinking something will be forgotten.
What did you forget to buy before hand, or forget to bring with you, or forget to do while you were at Disney that you wish you hadn’t?
Looking forward to seeing what everyone has to add.

Thanks!
Christina

  • Moleskin, nail scissors to cut it with, blister band aids. Use all of that on 'hot spots' on your feet. Use BEFORE a blister develops.
  • Wrightsocks. It's a specific brand. They have 2 layers and are really good a wicking sweat & helping prevent blisters.
  • Good shoes that you've broken in ahead of time. If bringing sandals, make sure they're walking sandals that you can walk 10 miles a day in.
  • Extra ibuprofen & Tylenol - for when your muscles are sore at the end of the day from all the activity.
  • Get silhouettes done of your kids on Main Street. We've done this 2x now and I have them hanging up in our family room next to the one my mom had done of my sister & I when we were kids.
  • during warmer times of year - bring a solar umbrella like this one. Also works great as a regular umbrella for rain.
  • during warmer times of year - bring a handheld USB-rechargeable fan like this one. Between this fan (or something like it) and the solar umbrella, it'll make it feel about 5 degrees cooler than the ambient air temperature. Really helpful when standing in a sweaty line.
  • Pteromy hooded rain poncho - comes in multiple colors. Costs ~ $19. Covers more surface area than Dollar Tree $1.25 rain ponchos. This one is big enough to cover down to your knees and plenty of room for you to have your bag/backpack/park bag on underneath it, too. Wearing this + using the solar umbrella + wearing hiking sandals in the Orlando rain = much happier family members.
My sister & I are going on a trip in October to WDW. Last time she was at WDW was when she was 2-3 yr old. I'm going to put together a WDW survival kit for her that's going to include the solar umbrella, USB rechargeable handheld fan & the rain poncho.

CHAPSTICK. I could not find it anywhere in the parks/hotels on one of our visits and ever since I pack like 3 of them because I want to make sure I have it with me all the time. And I am a germaphobe so I always have hand sanitizers in multiple forms. Family never gets sick at Disney because we are all obsessive with the hand washing/sanitizer. We used to always get foaming hand wash for our hotel room but I've read Disney is putting it in rooms now.
