I have a question for the moderators

I have questions too, but since I already have points, I'm afraid I'll get

.

Me too. :sad2: If I ask anything, someone will probably come along and accuse me of a "major personal attack".

I am learning to avoid a particular pot-stirrer, but it's frustrating that they are allowed to continue to berate so many others.

AMEN!!!!! Another one here in the same boat as both of you. I have LOADS of questions but know they'd get me in sooo much trouble that I won't even bother. However, it would be nice to know what is going on here.

Darlak -- I think we both got burned on the same thread w/the same pot stirrer. I'd PM you but my PM and siggie priveledges were taken away. :sad2: :sad1: I've had over 6,000 posts and a 5 yr. DISboards member. You'd think all those years of being good would count for something.

** Disclaimer - this post is not intended to be a major personal attack on anyone! **

you guys must have good memories to know who said what when. i couldn't keep track of that .....i have a hard time keeping track of my own life let alone someones elses, and if i could i probably wouldn't. there must be more important stuff to focus on?

With all due respect (hence NOt a personal attach ;) ) the whole issue stemmed from a poster saying "she had no debt" but leaving out the fact that she filed for bankruptcy. Of course people not knowing she had "filed" wanted to know how she got out of debt. If I was extremely in debt I would find this information very "important stuff". I wouldn't want to follow her advice..... :teacher:

I rarely remember people's usernames but this person had had SUCH an extreme story I did remember it. PLUS, the thread was on how much debt do you have and when I read the post saying none and a dancing smilie, I thought it was sort of in bad taste. Then I thought, hey wait a minute....isn't that the same person who......In that thread I too quoted a post that got deleted and my response to it was also deleted out of my post.

To me it just seems silly to have the budget board available for budget advice and then to allow people to basically lie willy nilly. How can you trust that kind of advice??

I now realize I'm not the only one who got this,
And mine was because I suggested a poster serve their Vegetarian dinner guest some macaroni and cheese.:confused3

Well, at least you didn't send the poster a pm and question their profession because of some grammatical errors in a post. Now, that would just be rude!

Well, that makes my points look somehow justified! That's just insane. It's a bit like the Dis Twilight Zone these days.

Wow, just think of what would have happened if you suggested meat!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I want to say just once, for clarification, that while I don’t believe that what I posted to earn my points amounted to a major personal attack, I did post a remark that was both sarcastic and snarky. I make no apologies for what I said and I wouldn’t take it back even if I could. The comments I did make were a result of careful consideration and showed great restraint on my part.

I accepted my points with no complaints to the moderator “team” that gave them to me. Whether I earned them is obviously a matter of opinion. The fact that I was clearly provoked by a pot-stirrer did not make any difference, nor do I believe that it should. I am an adult and I alone am completely responsible for any posts I make. There are multiple posts made by this pot-stirrer that I could report as well, but if I stoop to her level, then I have become no better than her. So I will wear my points with some embarrassment that I was so easily ensnared by such a blatant attempt to entrap me and also with just a bit of pride that I was unwilling to let her rudeness pass with no rebuttal.

Thanks for listening. I just needed to say that.

In the spirit of darlak, I just need to say I am not a pot-stirrer. I posted what I thought was an interesting topic because frankly I was sick of the "could the meatloaf have made me ill" "what size shoe do you wear?" and "NOW look what my family member has done" threads. Someone answered with a theory and I answered back with some thoughts on that. Nothing snarky, nothing having to do with anything that has happened here. Some people are getting paranoid.

Some people are getting paranoid.

Can't really blame them though, can you? When you have no idea if what you've just said could get you in trouble, or if that message board you visited just prior to coming here is on "The No No List", it can cause otherwise sane people to act a bit paranoid. It's to be expected.

Yeah, those aren't the people I meant.

I believe that the people paige meant are the ones who keep one trigger finger hovering over the "report post" button. Because the rest of the world really is out to get them.

Then again, maybe they have a more sinister objective in mind by reporting everyone who dares to disagree with them. The real question in my mind is why is the simple act of reporting someone apparently enough justification to warrant points being issued? Is the intent of the reporter never questioned or even examined?

Someone would have to say something REALLY terrible to make me even THINK to report a post. I mean Come on are we grownups here....or is this the Sesame Street Board:confused3

No, we're not Sesame Street, but I have heard that we've been confused with the Teletubbies Board a few times...
