We live in Texas (Southlake - DFW area) so we like a more landscaped resort I guess. SSR seems like home, a little flat and bare.

All Disney resorts are flat, so not sure how that can be held against SSR. As to bare, I find that truly not possible. The resort is one of the most extensively landsaped on property. What is your idea of bare? With the resort being young, the landscaped has not fully developed but that is only reasonable. You can't expect a 3 year old resort to look like it's been there 10 years.

Have a look at these photos, I would hardly consider that bare?

In all fairness I took the SSR tour 2 years ago. It just didn't do it for us that is all. Why does everyone here feel the need to defend SSR? I've went through this board to make an informed purchase about an add on. Now those supposed resort bashers seem to be doing less bashing than the rest of you. Anyone who speaks out against the place is labeled a "basher" and then is attacked by everyone. I see far more incentive to defend SSR than to bash it. At this point, I am leaning towards the "bashers". Wouldn't we all want people to love SSR? I just don't see a motive behind it. What are the "bashers" getting out of it? Now for the defenders and the positive review people, it is no doubt some are legit but you have to wonder about some. The guy saying "SSR blows OKW out of the water"? Why post that? There are others too. DVC is no doubt posting many of these great reviews. Why wouldn't they? I would if I had something to SELL. Now thanks for one thing and it is this: I don't know what to trust on here so we have booked a trip to SSR to see for ourselves. I can only go by how we enjoy our stay there. Those 12 years have value and thus the reason for the possible add on. Besides, who can't use more points? Sorry if this comes off wrong. I may be new here but I have participated in other furums of varying topics. You always have to ask or look for a motive to decide if the posts or poster is legit. I see motive to defend SSR, I just don't see the point in bashing it. Good day.
