This is so old........ :duck:

If it turns out that we are all "stuck" together at SSR-can someone make some frozen slushy drinks and pass them around? If I didn't know the resort, I'd think it was in some urban parking lot-ridden place from reading all the dire warning posts about SSR :bored:

If all the DVC properties but one are booked then it most definitely is not a good thing.

It means that SSR buyers are choosing to stay at other resorts while non SSR owners don't care to reciprocate.

What would be a goood thing is if all the DVC resorts were equally appealing rather than have one giant complex that people stay at only because they had to.
Well Brian I think your logic is pretty flawed here. I don't find it at all suprising that the values and moderate resorts have sold out before SSR. They are less expensive, so they will get booked first, particullarly if there is a big conference, companies won't want to pay a fortune for their employees to stay at SSR if they can get somewhere much cheaper.

This SSR bashing is getting sooo old, i'm not going to bother replying to most of the assumptions that you have made. I will say though, that if you think the pool is too far to walk to, you most probably could do with the exercise.

In an earlier post in this thread you said "Condo complexes depress me". The place doesn't appeal to you, fine, the hotel linked DVC's don't appeal to me, I prefer the condo style, but I don't post great big bashing posts about them.

There are many people who love SSR and prefer it to the other DVC resorts. Spouting this rubbish as fact just because there is availability at SSR is none too smart in my opinion. .

Weak at best Dave....very very disappointing

Sorry, to a new poster this stuff is confusing. I've owned BCV for over a year now and did as this guy Brian suggested. I bought where I wanted to stay. Who or what is this Daitcher people keep referring to? This board seems to filed with tons of speculation. Only time will tell if it plays out like Brian suggests. I sure hope not.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That is a very good question! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If you do a search you will see some threads he has been involved in.

in august "05" we were in west palm on vacation when katrina was about to hit there. even though it was a cat 1 at that point we decided to get out of dodge. i called ms and ss was available. we needed only one night. we own at the bc and bw. we had a great time and we loved the resort. the pool is our favorite, yes even better than sab. everybody has different likes and dislikes. but why try to make others who own there feel like they have made a mistake is wrong. If that is your feelings fine, but keep them to youself, let people feel comfortable about the home resort they own. I love all the resorts but continue to stay at the bw because of the 11 month window. we can't wait to try them all.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Me thinks Daitcher and boatboatboat have been reincarnated. :rotfl2: Way too sad. :thumbsup2

But I can tell you that he can't be anymore annoying all these goofy bouncing icons people use in their posts around here. Especially when they don't even correspond to what you're writing about.

Seems like if you can make your point with logic then these things aren't unnecessary.

Nonetheless, it sounds like I've touched off an emotional discussion. Didn't mean to trigger pangs of buyer's remorse and all the reassuring comments people have to tell themselves to get over it. My comments are more directed at DVC who needs to fix what I see as a very serious problem before my own resorts are devalued.

Hey, I don't know about you, but where I live we have some beautiful spring weather going today. I'm heading out with the kids.

Enjoy...

Have a nice day. I don't believe you are Dave at all. Dave would NEVER stay at the Celebration Hotel.

Brian, Daitcher, what was there join dates? Reading through these boards it seems there is a common theme there. Being the new guy I'm still trying to get a feel for this place. Seems anyone who posts concerns or criticisms of SSR gets the flames. I'm a little scared to add anything. Should I be? Is this a place for only positive reviews?

I think rather than trying to fix what was a very cool concept with the Disney Institute, WDW went for the quick buck and built a condo complex, knowing the DVC business model and sales pitch could probably compensate for the lack of imagination and forethought.

I don't get this argument about lack of imagination. If that's the case - wouldn't it also be true of BCV, BWV, VWL - if not moreso? It doesn't take a lot of imagination to "leech" off of the already existing plans of an already popular resort. Just do up a new wing, throw in a kitchen and voila! DVC! Not saying it can't make for a nice place, but it doesn't take a lot of imagination or forethought to add a wing to an existing resort.

Factual reviews of a resort, whether positive or negative are always welcome. Bashing is not. There is a difference. Some have not learned that though.

Some owners are having buyers remorse over SSR and mainly I think it is due to more about what they thought they were purchasing and less about any flaw in SSR. If one does not care for the theme of Saratoga NY, why would one think SSR would be different.

SSR is not attached to a deluxe resort. It is similiar in amenties and layout to OKW. That style is liked by some and hated by some.

I don't care for the BWVillas. But I respect the fact that the owners that purchased there did so for a reason and I respect their judgement enough not to try and cram my opinion down their throat. That only makes people gag.

Sammie, thanks for adding a little sanity to this thread. Variety is good. If people don't like one choice, they can get another. We love SSR and look forward to our future stays there. We don't care for BCV, so no one has to worry about our family taking up inventory there.

The OP was about inventory and the fact is that there are many rooms at SSR that have not been sold to DVC members and are therefore available through central rez. I also tried the dates requested by the OP and found many options for virtually all categories. As we get closer to the five day penalty period, I suspect more rooms in all resorts open up.

It seems that SSR bashing has run its course and I choose to end my participation in these threads with this post.

See, this helps a little. It is hard to post on a new board when you don't know what is accepted. This points out the diffeences. You are right on with this. I was scared to post anything negative here from all the flames.

You're just seeing the backlash to a two week barrage of posts and thread by some SSR naysayers who have posted non-stop about SSR devaluing their DVC, etc, and have occasionally taken pleasure of insulting SSR owners at every opportunity.

Generally we like a free-wheeling discussion, but if you're encountering a little resistance it is because some of us are a little fatigued from discussion this particular topic, especially since so much of the discussion is based on intangibles, like personal taste, or yet unrealized predictions, like lack of availability, and seems to be short on facts.

So apologies if we have been less than welcoming, this is just a subject that has been beat to death the last couple weeks (and if you look pages back you can read the discussion.)

Welcome to the DIS.

What an arrogant thing to say. I don't see any buyers remorse in this thread, so no idea where you get that from??

You say you are aiming this at DVC, then in the next breath you say that us SSR owners have buyers remorse and are kidding ourselves that we really like the place...get over yourself.

I've got to admit i'm getting pretty sick of the SSR bashing myself now. When I first started reading the boards quite a few years ago it was BWV that got the bashing, particullarly about the length of the hallways if I remember correctly. Then BCV, although I don't remember exactly why. Then it was SSR's turn, but it died down after a little while, but recently it's come back with a vengeance because of a few people with some kind of personal agenda..

I've repeated over and over in the SSR bashing threads the reasons why we love SSR and prefer it to any other DVC resort, yet people whose arrogance is much greater than their intelligence seem to refuse to believe that I am telling the truth.

These boards have always been a fantastic place to learn about DVC and share your experiences and knowledge with others, but they really aren't a pleasant place at the moment due to the ignorant comments of a few people. I think it's time to get away from the boards for a while.

There's nothing wrong with voicing a negative opinion, or some constructive critiscism. Unfortunately many of the recent posts have been far from this. I don't think SSR is perfect, there are some things I would like to see added. I just think it suits us better than the other DVC's, and will only improve over time.

I agree with you 100%. I think the OP just wanted to stir the pot. My home resort is VWL and I love it. I have friends at SSR and they've love their resort too. There's room for improvement at all DVC locations, and voicing suggestions is good. I think we should also voice what we enjoy about the various DVC resorts instead of all this negativity.

All that matters is if people are happy with what they bought. If people think SSR is a great resort and are happy with it, why would others care? My brother likes to buy the frozen fried chicken in a box, I wouldn't eat it I was starving. Why would I care if he likes frozen fried chicken? I think non SSR owners are jealous because SSR owners have 12 more years, even if those 12 years aren't in as nice of a place. SSR will look pretty good when all those OKW contracts are null and void. Who's the smart one?

Good thoughts, pickle. I own BCV, but maybe 12 extra years at a lesser resort isn't all bad. Time for an add-on? I could always book the better DVC Resorts at 7 months, hmmmmmm.......
