I hate getting my hair done

I just got back from getting my hair done, I'd rather have gone to the dentist.

I do really like the lady who does my hair, BUT this is the second time the A/C wasnt working in the salon. Its an expensive place too.

It was so hot, I have asthma so its hard on me to sit with all the bleach on my head for 2 hours in the heat,, if it wasnt for my hairdresser bringing me a fan, I would have passed out. but then the color wasnt processing in the fan so she had to move it further away,

Then there was the lady that was going through every name known to man and the names meanings, guess someone she knows is having a baby, she said my name was used too much,,,, I dont know why it just anoyed me, I kept saying shut up , shut up, shut up in my mind.

Im just glad its over, got home in time to catch the shuttle and ISS fly by.

I'm the opposite. I love getting my hair done, because I hate doing it myself. And all I do is wash it and blow it out straight.
I go to a Chinese salon, I lay down, they give me a head, face, and back massage while they wash my hair. I close my eyes and am in heaven.
Then I get into the salon chair, and another Chinese stylist combs out my hair, and uses 2 blowdryers in his hand while he straightens my hair. Again, I close my eyes, I don't talk to him, he doesn't talk to me, it's all so relaxing I could die like that and be happy. When it's over, I have beautiful, straight, shiny hair. I hate doing my own hair!

Why would your stylist leave bleach on your hair for 2 hours? I was a stylist for 12 years and never not once did I ever leave that on someones head that long. With the combination of the heat coming from your head and heat from no A/C your hair should be fried. Hope that your stylist recommended a good deep conditioner.

Thats about how long it took just over a hour and a half, My hair isnt fried but I do think she left it on to long.
My ears are still burning,
I think she doesnt use a strong enough bleach too I think it would come up better if she did., she never recomends conditioner, its always been up to me to come home and rescue my hair.

I would recommend a new stylist. If your ears are burning then you had a chemical reaction, and if you think that she is not using a strong enough product you should say so. I would go elsewhere.

I have said so, they keep telling me my hair is too dark to be as light as I want it. I know better.

My favorite hairdresser quit 6 years ago, for awhile (while she still had her license) I was going to her house so she could do my hair. she was awesome, got my hair light, healthy,and you wouldnt believe the compliments I got about how natural my hair looked,,,,, I havent been happy with my hair since she quit. she only charged 40 dollars to touch up roots and cut my hair.

If you have ever seen as good as it gets, where Jack Nicholson goes to Helen Hunt's home because he wants her to wait on him,,,, it kinda reminds me of that.

Ive actually had worse times than today ,its why I dread getting my hair done.

Honestly, if I went to get my hair done and the AC wasn't working, I'd request that they reschedule or I'd have to go elsewhere. I just don't think it would be worth it for me to try and have my hair done with just a fan, especially since I have naturally curly hair and it would be nearly impossible to get it to come out "salon quality" under those conditions.

I hate having anything done to me....doctor, dentist, haircut, manicure, massage....they're all in the "very unpleasant" category (except for the dentist, which is in the "horrific experience that makes me cry" category).

I once left a stylist that I liked because the salon advertised itself as a "spa and Salon" and their literature talked about a relaxing experience in a spa atmosphere... actually, it was more like an unruly daycare. Kids everywhere; running through the shop and toys and games strewn everywhere. I'm sorry, but I WANT a spa atmostphere, and I"M PAYING for a spa atmosphere.
I just didn't go back.
There are lots of good stylists out there... time for a change!

I just recently switched to a new stylist after being with my old one for about 10 years. She was a personal friend, which is why it took me so long to get up the nerve to switch, but I think that relationship worked against me - my hair and I were so familiar to her that she didn't really think about what she was doing when she cut my hair, and it had been a while since I had a cut I really loved from her.

Just one cut from my new stylist so far, but it was a great cut! I'll be back for another cut in a couple of weeks, so we'll see if I'm as happy the second time.

I enjoy it, but I like the place and the woman that does my hair. I do have to drive 30 minutes to get there, but it's worth it.
