I had mohs surgery today....

 I had regular plastic surgery to remove mine in December- my location didn't allow for Mohs.

Hoping you are on the mend. And that they got it all!

 My dh had mohs on his face. It did a good job of removing the cancer.

I will say that when we removed the bandage it looked like a bad wound and we thought it would scar. It was AMAZING how well he healed! Simply amazing--you can't even tell he had the surgery! There is no scar at all.

I hope that you heal well and quickly.

 Hope you are feeling tip top soon!!!

Do you mind saying what type of skin cancer this was for?

I had a shave biopsy today of a mole thing that just popped up on my arm about a month ago. It doesn't look like anything on the internet but doesn't look like my usual moles either.

I'm sorry, take care, hope it was successful and you have a complete recovery. :grouphug:

I'm dreading this - my grandmother and mother had many removed, and I'm blonde, fair, and was born before sunscreen! Hope it heals nicely.

DH had moh's surgery on his nose. The dr did an excellent job and healed beautifully. Hope you are feeling better.

I'm not the OP so I can't speak for what kind of cancer that involved, but my dh had both squamous and basal in one location and that's when he had the mohs surgery. When he had melanoma, they did general surgery.

I hope your biopsy turns out OK!

Why did the surgery suck? In general or did something happen?

I used to be an RN in a Moh's surgery center place and all our patients were usually pretty pleased.

Good Luck!

UGh, I had it just under my bottom eyelid and they had to create a flap after they removed the cancer which left a pretty long scar. if they didn't do the flap then my eyelid would hang down so that was why I got the flap. I was pretty traumatized by it, plus I looked like frankenstein. Hope you heal fast.

to remove a skin cancer from my face.
It sucked.
That's all.

:hug:Hugs to you Loriann:hug:

Just wanted to give you some encouragement. I also had Mohs surgery for a basal cell tumor on the edge of my nostril in 1997. It was a real downer being the only young woman there along with 70 year old men that were having parts of their ears, nose scalp removed.:scared1: The incision left a hole the size of a pencil eraser right at the edge of my nostril. I saw the plastic surgery people the next day, but there was nothing to do but let it heal on it's own. It remained very red for months as it healed. I was told most skin cancers patients will have another tumor within 5 years and most the pts there that day had been there multiple times.

Now 12 years later, the original hole is now a tiny white line that no one even notices. I have not had a recurrence of any kind of skin cancer although I have had 5 other suspicious areas biopsied over the years. We still vacation several weeks a year in tropical sunny locations. Even though I was never a sun worshipper, I have learned that the shade and plenty of sunscreen are my friends.:thumbsup2 I have some clothing from Solumbra that I wear when I know there won't be much shade. Good SPF clothing is becoming easier to find, even Lands End has reasonably priced items. I should wear hats, but I can't stand them.

I spent the first 3 years of my life in the tropics and the next 18 years in Texas. The doctors told me that, combined with my very fair complexion, has lead to this. I lotion up daily with lotion that has a good SPF. The dermatologist tells me I am taking good care of my skin. I sympathize with you and know it's hard to have a big incision on your face. Take good care of yourself and you'll heal up in no time.:grouphug:

My daughter 25 and at 8 months pregnant was diagnosed with Melanoma, stage two. They wanted to take the baby, she said NO. Waited the 40 weeks, and gave birth to my first grandson 40 week and 3 days. Two weeks after birth she had surgery to remove the cancer. she had a mole that spread like wildfire on her chest, so the had gone in and done a 6 inch scare up to her neck, it at that point was diagnosed stage three, it spread to the lymph nodes.

She had a PET scan done, no more cancer so they did another surgery, a neck dissection, This went much deeper and longer scare all across her neck. they wanted to completely clear any margins to make sure no microscopic cancer.

so far, everything is ok. But she is doing interferon for her treatment which she is starting anyday now. she has been nursing and my grandson is now 6 months old. she is in Texas, me in mass. It is just such a bitter sweet story, and this is really the first time talking about it.

so good luck to you and you had the surgery and it is done.

Same thing here! And I was calling myself Frankenstein.
I am using Vitamin E oil now and it seems to be helping with the scar.
I was asked "would like general anesthisia or local?"
assuming of course I would want general- but then was told
If you go under we won't be able to tell if you can open your eye.
Um I'll take local then.

It apparantly is a very common area as when we are sunscreening we don't rub it near our eyes.

((HUGS))
I had it done 3 years ago. Happy 40th Birthday present!!
It looks bad now, I am sure it does. I can tell you 3 years later you can not even tell I had surgery under my eye.

My word, I'm so sorry you had to go through this!

Best wishes and hopes that you feel great soon!
