I had mohs surgery today....

Why did the surgery suck? In general or did something happen?

I used to be an RN in a Moh's surgery center place and all our patients were usually pretty pleased.

Good Luck!

Well, as far as the procedure went, it was fine, minimal pain and everyone was nice. But the fact that it was surgery, it was the unknown and that I'm hurting now, that's the sucky part about it. i was actually amazed at how painless it was. I'm feeling rough now, and i hate taking vicodin. They did get it all and I was pleased with the outcome, but i could think of a few ways I'd rather spend my day. It was basal cell carcinoma, on my temple and now i have a long wound. if it scars, it will be minimal.

Bless your heart!!!

I understand what you're going through.

I had my FIRST Mohs surgery at age 32 on my forehead....was a "worse case scenario" and ended up with a very large skin graft to cover what they had to remove.

Postop is uncomfortable. I hope you feel better soon and have minimal scarring!!!

My mom just had a cancer identified on her face after I urged her to get a sore that wouldn't heal, checked out.

It's 4 months until she can get into the clinic. She has a lot of medical problems so this is just one more to add to the list.

I had Mohs surgery on two spots on my breast. It went well and they only had to do the one cut. The one healed up nicely but the bottom spot needed to be restitched since it opened up. Now that was NOT fun. They didn't wait until the lidocaine or whatever they use, took affect. He just started right in and I yelled OWWWW. "You felt that?" No I just like to yell at odd moments. He gave me a few more shots and went to work again. And again I yelled OWWW. And again he said "You felt that?" Are you on a different planet? So he gave me a few more shots and went to work again. Same thing. I yelled, he asked. By this time, I'm wondering what he was on and if I could have some. Finally after yet some more shots he completed the stitching. And it has healed nicely. If there is a next time I will ask for another surgeon to do the work.

Oh, by the way, I didn't actually say those things. But I sure was thinking them.

Both have healed up nicely. I just had it done in November. It's still a bit red, but fine. As I am 64 I don't worry about the small scars on my breast. In a year you will hardly see them anyway. But I certainly will remember to lather up on that sunscreen when I go out in the pool this summer.
