Sensible eating is just not doing it for me! 5 lbs in a month, and my first month, too, is just not acceptable.

I know, 5 lbs is good, especially if you only have a few to lose. And I mean few as anything below 50 pounds! If you have as much to lose as I do, 5 lbs is something I can usually do in three days, if I'm really doing it right.

Anyway, I think I will be starting Lo-Carb, maybe a modified Atkins. Any good thoughts?

Linda(I'm sorry for whining, maybe I should have waited till after midnight to post this ;) )

HI Hannosmom! Hey, a 5# loss really is progress. If the weight comes off slow it usually stays off longer.
Are you exercising? Finally today I got with it and used my walk tape that was suggested here on the Wish board. Also, trying to not eat anything after 7 p.m. Hope these suggestions help. Hang in there!:D

That's over a pound a week Hannosmom. That's progress. Slow but steady wins the race :)

If you decide to follow the Atkins plan, you really should just follow the plan for the first two weeks, at least. Don't try to modify it during induction.

Let us know what you decide.

Linda, I think that you might be up against some things that mightn't help you lose weight as quickly as you would like.

I know that it is easy to get discouraged. Heck for 5 pounds, I'd rather be eating, too. But don't give up. Change what you are doing and try something different. Are you able to exercise? If not, how 'bout a walk every day. Do you journal? Measure? Drink the water? Can you commit to a low carb diet? Take it one day at a time, and, as Katholyn reminded you: 5 pounds is more than a pound a week!

Keep the faith, and you'll find the weigh!

:D Thank-you for the encouraging replies! Faith, I'm going to try not eating after 8 this next week and see how that goes. Thanks for the tip.

Katholyn, you sweetie, you always put things in perspective! 5 pounds a month is 60 pounds in a year. I think I can be happy with that!

Debbie, I don't walk every day, but I think I should. Maybe a stronger commitment on my part is in order here.

Hoping for less of me,

Linda

I am so glad you did not give up. 60 Lbs is pretty good in one year, atleast I would think so...Kath had me start measuring and I am so glad she suggested it. I hve lost even less than you in 6 weeks, only about 3 lbs, but I have lost 10 inches arouns my body :) Try measuring...are your clothes feeling any better? You maybe loosing inches and not weight, sounds weird, but it is true. I also think that for any lifestyle change that has to do with weight you should really do exercise to tone. You will see the results faster. I know you can do it...I know if I can anyone can.

Hugs

Glad you aren't giving up!!! :)

Losing weight can be so frustrating. Seems like time passes by differently when we are waiting for changes like this. It took me several years of a pound here and there for my weight to creep up on me, but I really wish it would go away overnight.

Sending you lots of supportive hugs and "hang in theres"! :) 5 pounds is still 5 pounds and you should be very proud of yourself!!

Maybe a stronger commitment on my part is in order here.

That's something to think about. :) You can do it!!! YOU are the one in control here. Your second post in this thread shows that you AREN'T a quitter and that you do have a good attitude. We're always here for support and encouragement.

Hugs and happy thoughts coming your way for a better today and an increased loss for the next month!

Hey, come on...5 pounds is great! I've been doing Atkins for almost three months now...just hit 15 pounds this morning...so that's about how much per month I've lost too. I've decided some people just loose it easier than me, but slow and steady wins the race!!! The slower you loose it, the less likely you'll be to put it all back on.
Keep on trying...whatever works for you! You'll know when you start to feel better.:Pinkbounc

Glo, tigH, and Kathy, thank-you for such a great boost! I see someone ;) changed the thread title. LOL That's wonderful!

I've printed out each reply and I am going to post them on my fridge, to keep me focused on what is important.

Thanks for being my friends, I really needed the boost!

Linda

That's what WISH is all about, Linda. Giving support and getting support. Helping each other through the tough days.

If you want to change your eating plan, then go ahead and change it. Just don't give up, because you can do this!

Kath is right...change plans..play with the amount of exercise, but quitting is NOT an option. It is your health and your self confidance you have on the line. Besides do you really want all of us hounding you? Honestly, please do not give up and hang in there....I know you can do it :)

I hope the stopping eating in the early evening is working for you. I've committed myself to that too after watching Oprah earlier this week. Oprah was saying to just remember how that little hunger feeling that hits means your body is delving into your fat stores. Yay! Remembering that is really helping me stay on track.
