I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

I finally made it!!! Now to go back and try to catch up:surfweb: I'm wanting to see these costumes for MNSSHP:thumbsup2 Now that I'm done with classes for the summer, I'll have a little more time....kind of...

Heather

:welcome:

Thanks for coming on over! If it's too hard to catch up, just jump in with the next update! :thumbsup2 I know how hard it can be to catch up on threads sometimes. I do have a picture of Reid in his MNSSHP costume somewhere. My friend is still sewing my costume. I can't wait to see it finished! And I have just a few things left to do to put Ed's together.

So happy for you that you're done with summer classes & will get a little more DIS time! :goodvibes

Hi Amanda! :wave2:

Sounds like you have another great day planned. I want this trip to happen NOW! :rotfl:

We have never done the Monsters Inc. thing!

Thanks!

I want this trip to happen NOW, too! :rotfl2: I am seriously starting to get impatient. But, I'm trying to remind myself that the sooner it gets here, the sooner it will be over.

I think Monsters Inc. is just one of those things that can be easy to walk by & dismiss. :confused3

You're right!...too much to catch up on  I did find the MNSSHP reports. I'm really liking the costumes you chose. Just wondering if Ed will also sport the Mr. Smee belly hanging out of the pants:scratchin...that would be interesting to see  And the parade is a must-do for sure!!! It's one of the best at WDW. We did the late parade...less people. While the earlier parade was going on, we were taking advantage of the empty ride lines. It will surely be a blast!!!

I've actually told Ed that he will NOT be hanging his belly out like Mr. Smee. :lmao: I'm so excited to see that parade! I'm hoping to do the 2nd one. But, if I don't think Reid will stay awake for it, we may have to do the 1st. Let's just hope Reid will nap earlier that day so staying up won't be a problem for him.

Jesse was 3 1/2 when we went and made it...not sure how  Actually there was so much going on that he just kept going and going and going! We did nothing that day except relax by the pool, then went to eat at The Wave...then MNSSHP. I tried to get ressies to eat at Tony's but it was a last minute trip. Wish we were doing it this year but no such luck:upsidedow

Hopefully, Reid will be like the Energizer bunny that night. :rotfl: He usually is but you never know how they're going to be.

Willow was 3 1/2 or 3 and 3/4 when we went the first time too. She made it until midnight. We had gone to Chef Mickey's for breakfast, then back to the rental house for swimming and then a long nap (swimming = napping sometimes) before leaving for the party. Reid will make it!!!! :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear that Willow was able to stay up also. It also makes me feel better that we're not doing a park that day. Sounds like that will be the key in helping him stay up that night.

I am sorry to have missed so much. I have not had much time to be on dis in the last couple weeks. First there was the trip... and then somehow a week has passed since we have been back. How does that happen?

I wanted to congratulate you on your c25k!!!! Isn't it amazing? I never would have thought I could do that either and then there I was doing it. I switched over to the c210k and just started up where the 5k left off.... so far so good... well... I mean... I haven't died yet so that is good. ;)

Your trip plans look great! They certainly make me want to be there right now!!!

No worries! I know just how hard it can be to catch up on the DIS after being away. But, it's good to see you back! :goodvibes

Thank you! I have to say....it really is! Sunday I did a 27 minute run. Now, I was slow but I finished it without stopping! I really couldn't believe it. I am considering doing the C210K after I finish this up. I just didn't know if I should start that up right away or try to work on my 5K time first. :confused3

Thanks! I want to be there right now, too! I think the excitement of the trip is really starting to sink in.

Great PTR! Good luck to your husband on his race!:thumbsup2

Thank you so much! :goodvibes

Time for another update!

We are now on to.....

Wednesday, October 3rd

This will be another early morning for us (surprise, surprise  ). We will probably need to wake up around 630 am to start getting ready for the day. Around 715, 730 we should be getting on a bus. Where are we heading?

Here:

Now, I will preface what I'm about to tell y'all with saying that I'm not looking forward to this morning. The plans are not ideally what I would like to do with my DHS morning. That being said, I love my child more than my ideal DHS touring strategy.

No, we are not getting there extra early to line up for TSMM entry. We will be headed here for an 8am ADR:

As I'm sure most of you are aware, this restaurant usually does not get the best reviews on the DIS. However, they do have some great Disney Jr. characters, especially now that they've added Jake from the Neverland Pirates. What can I say? I don't really want to eat here. But, I have a 4 year old son who I realize will not be into these characters too much longer. :sad2: So, I will go & eat here for him & hopefully the food will be okay. :thumbsup2

I really struggled on whether we should do a breakfast or lunch ADR here. Usually, we don't like to do our ADRs at lunch but I was truly leaning towards a lunch ADR. Then, Disney put in this whole FP time enforcement. That sort of made me think that breakfast would be better. So, I've come up with 2 possible scenarios on how we can get our FP's for TSMM that morning.

1. We could possibly finish up in time to make Rope Drop. We've done the 1st ADR of the morning at other character meals & have gotten out within 45 minutes. If we could swing this, Ed could leave H&V to go get our FP's & we'll catch up with him.

OR

2. If we're not done within 45 mins or an hour, Ed will just excuse himself for a moment to go grab our FP's then come back to meet us.

Either way, I do think that as soon as we sit down & order our drinks, I will go ahead & ask for our ticket so we can settle our meal right away.

Once we're done with H&V and have gotten our TSMM FP's (one way or another), I am hoping the standby line won't be too terrible just yet for TSMM. If it's not horrid, then we'll wait to do a standby ride.

From there, we'll head to the Streets of America. I want to be early to stand in line for these guys:

This is one of the "must-do" character meets for us this year. Our whole family loves this show so I'm excited for us all to meet them.

After we've met our Disney friends, we'll probably head on over to the Muppets. We have not done this on previous trips with Reid. To be honest, on his last 2 trips, he didn't know who the Muppets were. But, he knows them now & loved the movie, so we'll definitely hit this up. I love it!

I'm really hoping that after that, it will be time to get another set of FP's. If so, we'll get them at Star Tours. Reid is over-the-moon excited about getting to ride this. In the last year, I've introduced him to the Star Wars movies (the original ones, not the newer ones) & he just loves Star Wars.

We'll use up our FP's for TSMM. Then, I'd like to take Reid to see Lights Motor Action. I think he will enjoy this show, even though he's not big on shows. And hopefully, we'll get to use our FP's for Star Tours & he'll enjoy it.

I don't know why but I find DHS to be kind of hard to make a touring strategy for. I just get overwhelmed by the task. So, most of the time, I don't have a very good touring strategy like I do for MK.

Basically, I'm hoping we can accomplish all of the above by lunch. If possible, I'd also like to do the Indiana Jones stunt show. We'll get as much done as possible by lunch.

Once we're hungry for lunch, I plan for us to try out this place:

I've heard there are basic sandwiches & stuff here for lunch, which is fine with us. But, obviously, that is not why I want us to go there. We are going there for cupcakes people! I have been tormented over the last year by scrumptious pictures here on the DIS of other people's cupcakes from Starring Rolls. Now, it's my turn! :rotfl: The only problem will be trying to decide on which one I want to get.

That's my basic strategy for the morning there. If anyone has any ideas/tips/suggestions, please feel free to share them with me!

Since I'm still trying to decide what all we'll want to get done on this day, I'll finish up this day in an update next week!

Despite the early ADR issue, I think it will be a fun DHS day! Reid is going to love Star Tours!!! :woohoo:

I don't see any ToT in there though. :scared1: :rotfl2:

I'm excited to do Star Tours with him.

I should've put in there that I would continue the day later. That's just our morning. ToT & RNRC will be later in the day. :thumbsup2

Here's where I make myself sound weird (though I'm sure not for the first time). 73 is my favorite number! Hahha, I'm glad you picked your 73 day mark to update! Anyways... :lmao:

I think either option sounds good! Also, I've heard a really good tip here on the Dis: ask your server to take off your meal credits at the BEGINNING of the meal, so when you're done, you can just leave, instead of having to wait around for your server to bring you the bill, etc!

I know what you mean, I feel like it's hard to plan for DHS, too! There are just so few attractions and so many shows with set showtimes. It makes it more difficult to have a good strategy, for sure! That being said, I think your plans sound great! :thumbsup2

I had a feeling it was your favorite number, that's why I updated today. :rotfl2: Well, maybe not, but I'm glad you like our number of days to go. I'd prefer it to be a bit smaller. :lmao:

I'll have to ask them to do that for sure! I'd just rather deal with all of that before we're trying to hurry up & get out of there.

Thanks! I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it difficult to plan for that park. Maybe by the time I finish up this day in the update next week, I'll have a better plan for that park. But, probably not. :rotfl:

DHS really is hard to develop a plan for. There are some great attractions there, but unfortunately there just isn't enough "filler" in between them to spread the crowds out. It's hard to get everything done in that park without zig zagging all over the place.

I think breakfast at H&V is probably a good idea. We ate dinner there a few years ago and it is on our "never again" list. I'd say it would be hard to screw up breakfast food though.:confused3

Enjoy the cupcakes at Starring Rolls. I've still not been there. I keep stalking the line whenever I walk by. One of these days there won't be a crowd there and I'll get one. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Sounds like a fun DHS morning!

We did H&V breakfast last year with an 8am ADR. We were out before rope drop & we got our check about half way through our meal. I think you all should be fine to make the TSM run! Anthony loves the characters there and Tessa loves the music. I thought the food was good and at 8am everything will be fresh.

I have a hard time making a plan for DHS too!

The only show we have seen at DHS is Beauty and the Beast. I want to see Lights Motor Action next time. You have to get to Starring Rolls!

I think you might like H&V more than you think, but I don't want to ruin the surprise of my TR. :lmao:

Sounds like a good plan for the day! Let me know how you like the cupcake, I still haven't tried one! I never seem to be hungry for sweets in the middle of the day...:confused3

I figured. ;) But I had to give you a little grief for not having it nearer the top of the agenda! :lmao:

Starring Rolls cupcakes - definitely a winner! :thumbsup2

I had the dinner buffet once at H&V and I thought it was fine. I really don't know why that restaurant gets such a bad rap. I read a recent review on breakfast that was quite positive and I'm sure Reid will love it!
