Well, after waiting all weekend for the gym key I finally got it ... yippee! I went down while the godkids were napping so Dfiance could watch them for me and I did a mile in 21 minutes on the treadmill and a mile on the bike in 5.6 minutes... I also did a few minutes on the stairs but I'm starting to feel a flu coming on so I thought it best if I left that for later and just went home to relax. Does anyone know where I can find "safe" heartrates, mine seemed kind of high, but like I said I think I could be getting sick so maybe that influenced it. I felt fine the whole time I was exercising, just a little warm. :bounce:

Good for you! I have been lax about the gym, but I will get back tomorrow. Not sure what you mean by safe heartrates. If you mean the safe target rates, it varies according to age and fitness level. Ask someone at your gym. Ours has target rates posted, but, again, one needs to consider their overall health, as well as age. I never achieve even 60% of my target rate, because I take beta blockers, and I can't get my heart to an aerobic level, but I know that I am strengthening it nonetheless!
Keep up the good work, but don't over do it. It is much harder to stay motivated when you can't sit on the john 'cause you're too sore! (Been there!:p )

Yea for you! I, too, started exercising today. Congratulations to both of us. I have been a couch potato knitting or on my computer. No tv, though. I walked on the treadmill for 16 minutes. I am glad. I hope to keep it up. You too!:cool1:
 
Way to go in getting back into the routine. I always feel better when I am getting my exercise in. Keep up the hard work and you'll be glad you did.
 
I managed to walk the mile in 19 minutes compared to the 21 yesterday. I also biked for 10 minutes and did 20 reps on each of the weight training machines we have. I also managed to walk the mile straight instead of breaking at the 1/2 way mark and biking and then finishing. I stayed motivated and only thing that kept me from staying in the gym longer was that it looked like it was going to storm so I made a quick exit home. I'm looking forward to exercising tomorrow, infact I might hit the treadmil tonight. :D
