I could get used to a view like this. Guys, I want a castle.–Oct TR ( I'm BACK!!!)

Here's the list, what do you think?:

  • Jiko – The Cooking Place - Dinner
  • Cinderella's Royal Table - Breakfast
  • San Angel Inn - Lunch
  • Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room - Dinner
  • Artist Point - Dinner
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse - Dinner
  • Raglan Road™ Irish Pub and Restaurant - Late Night
  • Tutto Italia Ristorante - Lunch
  • Citricos - Dinner
  • The Crystal Palace - Breakfast
  • Kona Café - Lunch
  • The Hollywood Brown Derby - Lunch
  • California Grill - Dinner
  • Yak & Yeti™ Restaurant - Lunch
  • Bistro de Paris - Dinner
  • Kouzzina by Cat Cora- Breakfast
  • Tokyo Dining - Lunch
  • Victoria and Albert's Chef's Table - Dinner

Holy moley! Now that's an ADR list to die for! Can't wait for the TR. Of course V&A is our favorite but we loved Bistro and Jiko's too. Kouzzina was closed for a refurb last time we were there so we subbed the Flying Fish. I know, slumming right? :lmao: If you can, get your time at Bistro around 8:30 and request a window table so you can watch the fireworks while you're eating.

Sorry to hear about your gall bladder episode. No fun!

Sounds like an epic trip! Like your start at the Yacht Club along with a couple of AK visits first thing.

How does TIW work- is it $75 or something like that for a year? I know it is only available to DVC members, AP members and maybe FL residents. So if I am understanding correctly, with TIW you will be able to get the 20% savings for any wine/drinks that you order that are not covered by the DxDp? An interesting strategy.

I'm not as concerned with that than I am with your club level food offerings on top of that, but since you said that having IPO make your reservations for you makes it worth it, I guess I don't have anything to complain about.

Your reservations look familiar, but mostly from your TR, not actual experience. We have been to Kona (B, D not L), Crystal Palace (L not B), Yak and Yeti (D not L) and San Angel, a hundred million years ago. Sounds fantastic, though!

Hi, Dee!

Thanks for the wishes on the tummy troubles, things seem to be back to "normal" now! (whatever that means...:rotfl2:)

You are correct w/ TIW, using it you can get 20% off of EVERYTHING, including alcohol. You can also use it in conjunction wtih your DDP for whatever it might not cover. We plan on using it more next year when we hope to travel for a few "small" trips, which we would not feel the need for a Dining Plan.

I will be honest, I've been toying with not getting the dining plan this time around, but with the F&W offerings, we really do have all credits spoken for. Again, it works out to about 1k on top of our overall trip costs. I'd rather spend that now than try to save it for the trip itself. That's how I personally can get into credit debt, which we desperately don't want. (our wedding taught us THAT lesson...never again!:rolleyes2)

Hi Jen,
Great weekend plans! My Dh and I LOVE history as well....

The restaruant choices are great! Can't wait to read your dining reviews!

I'll have to share a few pics we took, it was SO amazing to see, though it rained like crazy both Friday and Saturday nights, which made for some very unhappy soilders...though the bars were pretty darn funny (if a bit smelly from all that wet wool!:faint:)

What part of PA are you going to? My family is from there... Markleysburg/Uniontown. My dad was born and raised in Markleysburg (in fact, my grandmother is still there, even in the same house)

Have you been to San Angel before? I'm curious as to what you think (or thought) of it. My oldest DD really wants to eat there on our next trip.

I think all your ADRs look great! I'd like to see what the menu for the new Tutto Gusto will be...

We were in Etters, just south of Harrisburg, and up in Hershey. I love that area of PA, especially my aunt's house. If they only had a bridge across the river so I could avoid the traffic nightmare on 83!!!:scared1:

We have been to San Angel recently enough (September) and I spoke about it in our dining review (link in sig). I wasn't in love with it, but I also think I ordered the wrong things, so I'm looking forward to trying again. You cannot beat the atmosphere there, however. That alone makes it worth a go!

Now that Tutto Gusto is "open" and not going to be an ADR spot, I'm debating whether to keep Tutto Italia and try the "new" menu, or give something else a shot. Hmmm....

OMG that is an amazing list of ADRs! :yay: .. did you book the Chef's table at V&A's online or by phone? I would love to do that one day.. we had a wonderful meal there in the 'regular' dining room, I can't imagine how great the chef's table must be :thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to the Tutto Gusto wine bar opening too - hard to tell if it's a bar with snacks or more of a sit-down restaurant? Hoping to stop by there during our August and/or October trips :goodvibes

Are any of the restaurants new for you guys to try?

Emma princess: x

The IPO made our V&A reservations for us this time, but in February I called them directly for our reservation. (the V&A number, not Disney's hotline). I cannot begin to express how totally excited I am to try the Chef's Table! I am sure it will be a high point of our trip.

Let's see, new for us on this trip (other than the aforementioned Chef's Table!:goodvibes) will be:

Artist Point
Citricos
Kona
Yak and Yeti
Kouzina

We have made a reservation each time at Citricos and for some reason have had to cancel... hopefully the third time will be the charm!::yes::

Holy moley! Now that's an ADR list to die for! Can't wait for the TR. Of course V&A is our favorite but we loved Bistro and Jiko's too. I think that's exactly when our Bistro dinner is scheduled. Hopefully we'll get a window table, though even last time when we didn't have one, the show was quite lovely (what we saw of it). I was very worried when I saw the refurb notice, but thankfully it should be reopened by October. :worship:

Ah, now I remember... forgive me, I suffer from "Mommy brain". But I do recall reading about your meal there, and you jalapeño drink at La Cava!

So I’ve been busy over here making all sorts of little “extra” plans for our trip:stir:, surprises that I will share with you as each day comes along in which we have one planned. Sadly, day two does not have any of these special add on things, but it should still be an amazing day!

To start, we’re going to have to ask Stitch wake us up super early, because I made an ADR for the first seating of the morning at Cinderella’s Royal Table!

Now, I know what you’re thinking, dear reader. You remember what happened last time, didn’t you? That little bit where I experienced Princess overload? :duck:I’m still in therapy. But, my doctor told me sometimes the best thing to do is face your fears, and by golly, I’m determined to get a better picture than this:

100_0354.jpg

*shudder*

Ok, ok. So we all know the real reason I want to have breakfast here is the caramelized bananas on the massive bucket o’ yogurt. Seriously, I may ask for two bowls just so I can have all those bananas! I hope Mike doesn’t expect me to share…..:rotfl2:

After we escape from the Castle, it’s off for a quick jaunt to ride Dumbo, the Mat Tea Party, Pooh, and probably Space Mountain before the crowds start to pour in for the day. I don’t actually remember the last time I rode Dumbo. I am positive I did as a child, but I just don’t remember it at all. I decided on our last trip that we have to ride it, and this time I’m determined. Are there any rides that you’ve overlooked on previous trips but really want to give a try? Am I crazy for not getting on Dumbo our past two visits?:confused3

Notice I said am I crazy for THAT, not in general. I know I’m insane normally.

After enjoying the morning at MK, we’ll be hopping on the (hopefully running!) monorail and heading over to our real destination for the day, Epcot.

Now, Epcot is where I feel the most like I have “arrived” in Disney.:lovestruc I have so many memories from here, and have made so many more just in the past year with my husband. I think I can safely say that Epcot is indeed, my favorite park. (Though I don’t think I could go to Disney and not visit MK….that puts it up there as a very close Second!)

We have no real plans for this visit to Epcot, merely to wander about the F&W booths and make a list of all the things we want to try! We also made plans for Lunch at San Angel Inn, which I am looking forward to for the atmosphere alone. If we end up at La Cava at some point for a margarita or two, well, that’s ok…. We don’t have plans.

IMG_0366.jpg

I’ve tried so very hard to “plan” a lot of downtime into this trip… hopefully I can stick to it!:thumbsup2

After we’ve had our fill of the crowds, we’re going to head back to the Yacht Club for some more downtime, perhaps pool time and a much needed nap. Then, it’s back out and over to the International Gateway, for we’ve got plans to eat at Rose and Crown.

Ok, so I’m torn on this one. Mike really wants to eat here, but I am not thrilled about the new menu (no mussels???). I am hoping for the best, and with our reservation time (7:30) we might even finish dinner in time for Illuminations (or maybe luck out and get a seat outside to watch them!). Are there any “must try” items on the new menu that you would recommend?

After this, depending on how we feel, we might head over to DHS for evening Magic Hours. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE riding Tower of Terror at night, and considering it’s exactly how my DH first experienced it, he loves it too. Hopefully we’ll get a drop or two in before heading back over to the hotel for the night.

So that’s it for Day Two… nothing crazy planned, but certainly filled with a lot!

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!

Jen

Hi Jen,
Day two sounds great! I can't wait to hear about your surprises!!! don't keep us waiting for too long!!
No Mussels at Rose & Crown anymore????? wonder why?? hopefully they will bring them back....

How's your Gall bladder??

As far as rides I have never experienced- like you, I don't recall ever riding Dumbo. Because I don't think I have.

My first trip to Disney was as a teenager (17) with my future DH and our high school class- we didn't ride it then. We didn't ride it in subsequent trips after we were married. You would think once we started visiting with kids, Dumbo would make it onto the agenda, but sadly, no.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if the first time I rode on Dumbo was with the teens in a few weeks?

Hooray for your breakfast in the castle, and even more of a hooray for the first seating.:banana::banana:

See how I added those bananas for you!

Day 2: No crazy plans, but possibly 3 parks! Sounds great to me!

Ah, yes... the giant "bucket o' yogurt". Hmmm, I wonder if you can ask for extra bananas on top?

Soooo, you're going to Epcot on your Day 2... could this perhaps be my Day 1??? Which would also be my Epcot day??? I see a trip to La Cava in my future...

Our dinner at R&C last year was really good... of course, what I had (the Sunday Roast) is no longer on the menu (I, too, am bummed with the menu changes). Our ADR was 7:00 and we asked to be seated on the patio... good thing, too, as our dinner took THREE HOURS. Had we not been on the patio, we'd have missed IllumiNations. Our waiter was nice but took his sweet time; which was fine, really, as it was our last night and we weren't in any hurry. But, still. THREE HOURS for dinner.

I won't keep you waiting, I promise! Going to try to get Day 3 up today or tomorrow, because the fun stuff starts Day 4!

I don't know if it is because people didn't order the mussels or not, but they were such a generous portion (and delicious!!!) that they will be missed. Things do seem to change a lot there however, so maybe by October something will shift again!:cutie:

Gallbladder is doing ok, I think...though I seem to have more and more issues with fatty foods. We'll see if that's related or not. I have a follow up appointment with a gastro doc next month. Thank you for asking!

Not just bananas, but THREE bananas!:banana::banana: Which is perfectly awesome, thank you!:lmao:

You know, I hadn't realized we might end up in three parks, oh my! I almost want to plan a 4 parks in one day day w/o doing anything crazy, but I think Mike would kill me.

re: R&C.... our last dinner there was almost 3 hours as well, though I'll admit we were so happy to be there we didn't notice until we were walking out of an EMPTY park! :rotfl:

re: Cava....yes, there are margaritas in your future, missy. Remind me to send you a message on FB w/ my cell number, that way we can catch up to toast to your anniversary...we'll save a table!:rolleyes1

Day 2 plans sound PERFECT. I also am in love with Epcot, and a day of wandering around the World Showcase (which somehow always ends up including a stop at La Cava de Tequila :rolleyes1 ) is my idea of an awesome day.

I just got back, and we LOVED San Angel Inn (amazing guacamole!). We also ate at Rose & Crown and it was ok... I never had the mussels there, so I didn't really notice that they were gone.

Is Day 2 October 14th for you? I will be hopefully in Magic Kingdom that day! The 15th is my Epcot day. Or the first one anyways!!

You shouldn't hold your breath on the Dumbo thing. Two weeks from today!

Totally 3 bananas- they always travel in bunches.

I have done 4 parks in a day. Not "the" four parks, but...

AK 8 am-1 pm
Blizzard Beach from 1-4
Dinner at Boma at 5
Hollywood Studios at 6:30-8
Then after the rest of the family bailed, I went into EPCOT to watch Illuminations.

Although it wasn't the 4 major parks, one of my readers gave me points for 3 "costume" changes of clothes.

Yes, getting your contact info is on my "to do" list! :thumbsup2

Love the Day 2 plans! I like that you have a few plans, but not too many. =) Three parks in one day is something I have never done, though! That would take some endurance for me. I need my naps in the middle of the day at Disney, so I don't know if three parks is ever in my future, LOL!

Guac is awesome there, and I like the queso as well.

I'm sticking with our Rose and Crown dinner just because my husband is Scottish and would probably kill me if I canceled it.... though since I am leaning towards removing the dining plan from our reservations (too many changes, rumored restaurant closures, etc...) I can be more flexible in my choices.:thumbsup2

It is! Look for the crazy lady in front of the castle with the Polaroid camera, that will be me ;)

That's a major accomplishment, both the parks AND the wardrobe changes!

I've got to go read your TR now that I'm back on DIS again (yay, work from home schedule!!!!) as I can't wait to hear how the trip went!!!

Yes, getting your contact info is on my "to do" list! :thumbsup2

I wish I could nap.... it's one thing I haven't been able to do, ever. Sometimes when I'm sick ,but that's it. :confused3

So I’ve been pretty busy the past few days planning a few more things for our trip and making a few big changes. I thought I’d share them before I jump into our next update / day plan:

First off, I made the decision to do away with the Dining Plan altogether. :rolleyes1This was for two reasons. One, it’s expensive, and while I am hoping for a room discount of some sort to come available between now and October, I have to assume it won’t… that means, I need to make sure I can afford to pay off this vacation before the end of August!:teacher: Cutting out the DxDP saves us around 1300$ off our total package cost, which is huge. We are going to upgrade to Annual Passes when we arrive and purchase a TiW card instead, I figure this is probably a better approach moving forward, plus, I get a lot more freedom in what I do or don’t order with my meals. :cool1:

Also, I purchased our MNSSHP tickets today!!!!:dance3: Seeing as we’re going to be paying OOP for all meals, I wanted to make sure I purchased everything else I could ahead of time. This was one of the items....

I’ve been hearing rumors of Bistro de Paris perhaps being closed during our trip, but I’m holding out hope that doesn’t happen. I’m also starting to hear a lot about the upcoming F&W events, one Party for the Senses, which would directly compete with our Bistro reservation. Has anyone done this party before? Is it worth it? Certainly sounds fun, if a bit expensive…..:confused3

So I’m going to go and write up Day Three of our plans…. Not to mention try and catch up on my other TRs that I have left stranded!!! Things have been so crazy lately, but the new work schedule is helping so much, freeing up some time for the DIS!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!!!

-j.

Day Three is the first day my DH is really looking forward to. Why, you ask?

Well, to begin with, he gets to sleep in!!!

Since this will be an Epcot day for us, and we’re staying at an Epcot resort (yay!) we should be able to sleep in and still get to International Gateway before the park opens at 9. I have to admit I’m really bummed to hear that Test Track won’t be open until December:mad:, but I guess that does make our planning a bit easier, as we’ll only have to do the mad dash to one ride, Soarin’.

100_0453.jpg

Now, for those of you who followed along with my September ’11 TR, you’ll know that I just wasn’t all that impressed with the ride, though that could have been for any number of reasons, really. We decided to at least go there first thing in the morning to grab a FP, then head straight over to the Character Spot. Why? Because I haven’t done it yet, and every time we walk by I say “oh, we should do this”…. Then look at the line and say “next time”. Well, we shall see if I manage to actually do it this time…. Anyone want to place a bet?:lmao:

The rest of the morning will be spent checking out the rest of Future World. We didn’t visit Living With the Land or The Seas on our last two trips, so those are “must do” items for us this time around. I’m sure I’ll drag Mike on over to Imagination Pavilion to see Figment. Then, our plan will be to wander around the F&W pavilions on the near side of the lake, and grab a few items from a booth or two as a light lunch. After that? Margarita Mondays (Yes, this is an actual thing!:thumbsup2) at La Cava.

100_1128.jpg

After this, we’ll spend a few hours wandering around the World Showcase, perhaps getting in a mission or two on the new Agent P game! (on a side note, while camping this past weekend, my niece was playing a DS game for Kim Possible, and every time that “Kimmunicator” went off, I jumped, thinking I had a new mission! :rotfl2:) This will be the last day we can ship stuff back to our hotel room for this leg of the trip, so we’ll probably do a bit of shopping as well. I made a list in February of things I wanted… we’ll see what’s till there.

Also, I want one of those caramels from Germany. Yum.

Once we’ve had our fill of Epcot for the day, we’ll head back to the Yacht Club and get ready for a dinner that I’m super excited about for two reasons. One, because I’ve never eaten there before, and B, because it’s in a resort Mike has never seen and I’m just sure he’s going to fall in love with!:goodvibes

Yep, we’ll be catching a cab to Wilderness Lodge!

In the past, I’ve stayed at Fort Wilderness camp grounds (in the cabins / double-wides) and walked into the lobby of the Lodge. Truly, I think it’s one of the most gorgeous designs Disney has ever created in a hotel. One of these days I’d like to stay there for a few nights, perhaps that’s where we’ll go this coming winter for our weekend getaway…..

And, we’ve gotten ADRs for Artist Point! Now, I’ve never eaten here, but the menus really look fantastic, so I’m excited to see what it’s all about.

Originally I had planned on scheduling a Haunted Carriage Ride after our dinner, but it looks like Disney is doing away with that little gem (BOOO!) so that’s off the list. However, it does just happen to be EMH at MK that night, and WL DOES have a boat that goes straight there…. Sooo…..

Yeah, I’m totally playing in the Magic Kingdom after dark!:cool1:

I think this is my favorite time to be in MK, the crowds are low, the lights are gorgeous, and the mood is just so much fun! I have to ride BTMR this night, it’s fantastic to look up and see all the stars.

Hmm, sure better not rain!:rolleyes1

After that, it’s back to the hotel and to bed!

Hi!
Im at work so I only have a second to reply!
Missed you here on the DIS...glad to see your updates!

I still have to purchase our MNSSHP tickets. Not really sure why I haven't done that yet…

Going to EMH at MK after dinner at Artist's Point sounds like a great plan! :thumbsup2 I've not been to evening EMH at MK… that's on the "Disney Bucket List" for sure!

I'm so totally bummed about the carriage ride being discontinued. We were planning on going this trip. We almost always go October and had never done it!
