I Can See Epcot From Here! ~ A November Trip and Dining Report ~

Shelly - i am so LOVING all your pics and your TR.... Its making me miss WDW so much.... :( but it's ok i'll be there next year..... Hopefully by then they have some part of fantasyland open.... i hated seeing all the walls when we went in June...

Your TR is almost coming to an end... :( i'll probably reread it all.... lol

Good morning Mari! :goodvibes I'm so glad you are enjoying the TR. Sorry it is making you miss WDW so much. I guess that's the downside to doing a TR, it makes me miss it too!

Yes, hopefully when you go back Fantasyland will be looking a whole lot better. I just know it is going to be a big ugly mess this summer.

When we got back to the BWI after our short morning trip to DHS we stopped in the BW Bakery to grab some sandwiches for DH & I for lunch. I ordered the Hot Ham & Cheese Panini with cucumber salad and DH ordered the Turkey Bacon & Swiss sandwich with chips. We got up to the room and went out on the balcony to eat them and my “Hot” Ham & Cheese panini was cold. They had pressed in it a panini machine, so the bread was toasted, but the inside was still cold. The cheese had never even melted. And DH's Turkey Bacon & Swiss was actually a Tuna Salad Sandwich. We weren't impressed. But we weren't about to go back down and wait in that line again to complain/exchange them. DH can eat Tuna Salad, it's just not something that he would typically order. So he ate his sandwich and said it was okay. I ate about half my panini.

Total Bill at the Bakery (for the 2 sandwiches, chips, cucumber salad, and a cookie): $20.63
Rating: 2 out of 5

The kids were in the room playing. They weren't too hungry after having their big ice cream treats at DHS. But I made them eat PB&J before we went out to the pool. Well, just “J” for DS9!

Pretty soon we all got changed and headed out to the pool!

I went in the with kids for awhile and then sat out and got some sun! I don't remember if DH went in that day or not. Jodi (JoBird) and I had been texting all morning and I sent her a text that I was just lounging at the pool and if she wasn't busy to give me a call. Pretty soon my phone was ringing! We of course had a nice long chat!! :hyper2:

After a few hours of pool time we went back upstairs and got showered and changed. We had a dinner ADR at Cape May that evening. We decided we had just enough time to go to DTD and pick up a few things we wanted that we had put off earlier. So after we got ready we headed out to the bus stop and after just a short wait a DTD bus pulled up!

When we walked into the Marketplace there was a photopass photographer taking pics with no wait so we jumped right in for some more family pics!

First we went into the Christmas Store at DTD.

I don't remember if we bought anything there or not. I don't think we did.

Next the kids wanted to make a quick stop at Once Upon a Toy again. They each found something of course.

Then we went into World of Disney and I got my ornaments and my pink scarf. DS9 picked out a shirt. And we might have gotten a few other things, I can't remember!

I guess I didn't take a pic of DS9's new shirt that night. But I know I took one of all his stuff after we got home and it's in that picture. So I'll post that later!

Up Next: More DTD
(continued in next post)

The Festival of the Masters was going on at DTD, so it was kind of crowded. There were art displays and food booths everywhere.

DS9 had a little bit of money left and wanted to get it spent, so he wanted to go into the Lego Store. It is always so hot & crowded in there. And LOUD! :faint:

After much looking around he decided he wanted to do the Fill Your Cup with Legos thing! He had just enough money for the small cup.

After we were finally done there we went outside and noticed that the new CS place in DTD, Pollo Campero, was not boarded up anymore. It had been still boarded up earlier in the week. There were people standing outside of it handing out menus and saying that they were having their grand opening at 5:00. Which was about an hour away. We thought about canning our Cape May ADR and taking part in the grand opening there. It was a tough decision, but in the end we decided to stick with our ADR.

So we headed to the bus stop and made the long ride back to the BWI to get ready for dinner.

Up Next: Dinner at Cape May

Once again, a great update! :thumbsup2 You are really moving through at a quick pace. Which I like, except that it means your TR is coming to an end soon. :sad1:

Doesn't it always happen that you discover a food order is wrong when it's too much trouble to fix it? That seems to happen to my DH all the time with drive-thru's. I don't know how many times he has gotten home only to discover his hamburger has cheese on it. And of course he's not going all the way back to change it out. They really messed up on your DH's order. Tuna salad instead of turkey, bacon, and swiss. I wonder if somewhere there was an angry person with a turkey, bacon, and swiss sandwich who wanted tuna.

It looks like y'all had fun at the pool and had it almost all to yourself! That probably won't be the case on your next trip. ;) Your boys have really turned into swimmers this year! I bet it was so much fun talking to Jo while you were lounging by the pool. :)

I can't get over how easy it seemed for y'all to get from the BWI to so many places. You were able to hop and skip around without having to allow so much transportation time. That is so different from when we stayed at POR and POFQ.

I'm not familiar with the Festival of the Masters. Is that an annual event?

Your DS9 reminds me of how my DS is. Money burns a hole in his pocket. So opposite of my DD, who is such a tightwad (but I mean that in the nicest way ;))

I love the pink scarf you bought. It is so pretty!

Once again, you got some great family PP pics. I don't know how you can ever pick a few favorites to frame!

Looking forward to your Cape May review!

You had me smiling when you said that you "went out on the balcony to eat". I know that you had to be happy that you were able to change rooms and actually have a balcony to eat on. Then, you had me frowning 'cause your sandwich was cold and your husband's sandwich wasn't even the one he ordered.

Yay for pool time! I'm still not getting why people are so creeped out by the clown. I think he's pretty cute.

In all of our trips to DTD, I've never seen a Photopass Photographer near the Christmas scene. I wonder if they are only there when it's close to Christmas time?

I agree with you on the Lego Store. It's always crowded and loud. I hear that it's about to undergo a total rehab and will become twice the size it is now.

I am looking forward to your Cape May review. I made an ADR there but canceled it because I didn't know if we'd like it.

How disappointing to get to your room and find out your lunch order was not up to par. I would not have gone all the way back down there right then but you can be sure I would have stopped in and spoke with whoever was in charge on my next trip to the boardwalk. $20 is $20 and working in Customer Service for a good portion of my working life, has made me one to complain if warrented. Lord knows I have heard complaints of much less many times.
Shelly you are a far far better person than me at least when it comes to no complaining :rotfl:

How nice that you were able to enjoy another afternoon at the pool. I am glad to see you went back to DTD and bought that scarf, it is so pretty. Love the christmasy photopass pics at DTD

Can not wait to read about Cape May we are planning on trying them for dinner this trip, when I changed my ressie to BC the CM went on and on about their king crab legs and to make sure you eat there for dinner

Thanks Teri! :goodvibes

Yes, the line at the bakery was always long. There was no way I was going back down to complain. Still not sure how they got Tuna out of Turkey, Bacon, and Swiss. :confused3

The pool was great, once again. It was never busy. You are right, I probably won't be able to say the same on my summer trip. :scared:

Transportation was good at the BWI. Well, except for getting back from DTD. That always took awhile.

Festival of the Masters is an annual event at DTD, over the second weekend in November. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/de...isney/special-events/festival-of-the-masters/

I love my pink scarf! :lovestruc I'm so glad we went back for it.

DS9 is usually my saver. DS11 spends as soon as he gets it. But DS9 sets aside a certain amount of money for WDW and he likes to spend it all when he is there! :rotfl:

It was nice to eat out on the balcony.:) Too bad the food was messed up! :upsidedow

I don't get it either. That pool is so fun!! :cool1: Lots of people are missing out!

I had never seen a photopass photographer in that spot at DTD before either. I have only ever seen one pp photographer at DTD before, and it wasn't in that spot. So I was surprised to see one there and thought we better take advantage of it!

Are they going to close the Lego Store during the rehab?

I guess it wasn't totally terrible, so I didn't feel like going back down. Now when they messed with my balcony, I went right down to complain!! ::yes::

If you like seafood you will definitely want to go to Cape May, especially since you are staying right there. They have a lot of good food there to choose from, even if you don't like seafood.

Here's the information on Lego Rehab that I found on allears:

LEGO Imagination Center at Downtown Disney Marketplace is preparing for an extensive renovation project that will increase its overall footprint by nearly 3,500 square-feet and add new LEGO exterior models of favorite Disney characters. Construction walls will go up around the area starting January 29, 2011. During the project, LEGO Imagination Center will operate in a temporary "pop-up" location between Once Upon A Toy and Earl of Sandwich. The project is expected to be complete in mid-April, 2011.

Thanks Lisa!

That is interesting. I'm glad it is going to be larger. And it looks like it should be all done long before we get back!

The store definitely needed to be enlarged. I don't think we've ever gone in there when it wasn't crowded.

Oh by the way, I watched The Talk on my computer during the lunch hour. The women in the audience went nuts when Rick Springfield came out. They were like a bunch of teenagers. He really does still have "it".

Hi Shelly - What a big bummer about your food! I hate that when it happens. (BTW, I hate tuna, so that made that part of your story even more grosser to me.) The clown pool looks like a lot of fun.

I love the Lego store - so many good memories playing with them as a kid. It is so cool that they have really neat and special pieces to build with now.

You picked up some nice stuff!

In other news - we know our dates for May, the 11th-16th. We will be attending my Dad's wedding on the 14th and celebrating my wife's birthday on the 16th. Now I can book my ADR's!!!

Sea :cool1:

Lucky!! :cool1:

Thanks for the report! :thumbsup2

Whoo Hoo! That is something worth celebrating. Especially with the snow that is falling at my house right now, I am certainly dreaming of WDW.

Keep that TR coming!

Thanks! :goodvibes It is exciting!! Especially with all this crappy winter weather. It really gives us something to look forward to! ::yes::

More TR to come!
Get out of town!! :dance3:

That is unbelievable! :cool1: Awesome! :Pinkbounc Fantastic! :yay:

IMPOSSIBLE!! It seems like you just got back! :upsidedow

Not fair! I wanna go.

;)

Well to me it seems like we were there a LONG time ago! :faint:

But yes, 7 months isn't all that long. It is to the kids. :rotfl: But I know time will fly by!

I want you to go too!

Yeah, that wasn't the best lunch by any means. Luckily DH isn't too picky and can eat just about anything! I would have never been able to eat tuna!

Sounds like a fun May trip! :cool1:

First of alll------ SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Your ticker starts with a '6'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1::banana::cool1:
And no I am NOT excited for purely selfish reasons.......:rotfl2:

I am living vicariously thru you of course.:rotfl:

Holy cow your panini didn't even look like how a panini is supposed to look! It looks like something someone made at home. weird. Sorry Garry's sandwich wasn't what he dang ordered. How weird!! I mean yeah I can see how they got those two confused....:rolleyes1:sad2:

I guess if I said I eat tuna every day you guys would not be my friends anymore???:guilty::rotfl:
I do-- a can of plain solid light fillet in olive oil with two cups romaine lettuce and 6 olives. And yes my skin glows.

But I do smell. A tad.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Kidding.

Okay anyway- I feel like I was there that day swimming with you guys and Clarence. ::yes::
It was so much fun talking with you and hearing about everything you were doing.

You got lots of good stuff at DTD-- ahem- the scarf.....:rolleyes1
And of course the boys' with their spending $$...:lovestruc Auntie Jo thinks they are just adorable.

I would love to see the art at the Festival of the Masters- I bet it is spectacular.

Can't wait to hear about the buffet at Cape May!!

That is a great family picture of you guys at DTD. I didn't even know they had PP photographers at DTD.
I LOVE your pink scarf! I'm in the biggest scarf phase right now & wish I had bought one while I was there.

I know -- look at it starting with a 6 today!!! :woohoo: I'm sure you are purely happy for me and not at all about the fact that you will be in the 6 range in one week from now!! ::yes::

Yeah, the panini wasn't exactly what I was expecting. :confused3 And neither was the Turkey Bacon & Swiss! :lmao:

I forgot you eat tuna. Right after you eat your warm PB I suppose. :scared1::rotfl:

That was a good day at the pool. The weather was great and it wasn't crowded at all. And I got to tell you all about the trip! :goodvibes

Some of that stuff at the Festival of the Masters is pretty cool. It's hard to get up front to see it though, it's usually pretty crowded.

Are you really excited to hear about a buffet??? :upsidedow:rotfl:

Thank you! :) It's very rare to find a pp photographer in DTD, but they are there sometimes.

I just love my pink scarf! :lovestruc I am getting lots of use out of it this winter.
