My son Graduates on Sunday . He seems fine with it of course : )

I will miss him when he goes accross the country to NC for school .. ( WHY GOD WHY?)
He will be at ASU to wrestle for them , Texas is not known for wrestling and of course that is what sport my son is going to do in college.
Why couldnt he wrestle in a state close to home you ask . Why because he is trying to outrun his mommy of course LOL

Anyway anyone else sad ? I am really kinda getting scared at how much I cry at the drop of a hat about it . It is a long way between Dallas and Boone : (

God bless them for fighting for him with the other schools but why couldnt they be closer to home .

you will be okay...I promise. Both my boys wrestle out of state. :goodvibes

:cheer2: Congrats on your son's graduation! I heard that ASU is a great school.

Our oldest nephew is graduating next week. NC B. & I started dating about the time he was in first grade---time flew by so quick.

I understand completely. My son is graduating HS on Friday. He'll be 3 hours away at college, so thats pretty far too. But I am excited to see where things will take him, he's such a great kid, I know he'll have a great time. But I sure will miss him too.

You will survive. Been there and done that and I promise they do come back. In fact, my oldest is here right now after graduating from Kent State University in Ohio with 2 Masters Degrees. Being away has done her good.
Btw ASU is awesome. My oldest went the for summer music camp (Cannon) and stayed in the dorms. We enjoyed our short visit to Boone and Tweetsie Railroad. Trip back had the kids coming to Orlando to pick up so we took a side trip to WDW.

:grouphug: DS went to a school without a wrestling program... oh the horrors.... you wrestling moms know what I am talking about!

He just came home from his first year away at college. He did ok. I had a hard time the first month he was gone. He is my middle son, the child I am closest to, the easiest on the parental nerves.... lol. I missed having him shufflling around the house, opening the refridgerator-only to stare at it's contents, the yells of MOOMMMM .. but I survived... and so did he. In fact we probably both made lots more friends this year than either expected to do.

Plan to send cookies or his favorites. Jake's roomates called me to thank me for sending the CARE packages and wanted me to tell their moms to do so.. LOL....

you will be ok.. I promise! :grouphug:

What I would like to know is how do you get used to not knowing what they're doing all the time? I don't mean every minute of the day, but just knowing who they're with, where they're going etc.?

I know what you mean , My son was so happy that they were all looking at him he couldnt stand it : )

He turned down about 5 colleges that were division 2 schools ( no shame in that for sure) because he wanted ASU or OSU . OSU came calling but told him he wouldnt be a starter so he took ASU .

My son is the only one from the team that is going to wrestle in college his Coaches are so proud they have not had anyone go off to wrestle in 4 years . ( sorry proud mom brag )

My daughter just finished 9th grade, and I'm already dreading her going off to college. I was hoping the idea would get easier...but now I'm not sure.

My ds is graduating on June 2nd, and then moving down to San Diego to live with his dad & go to school there. He loves San Diego, and doesn't plan on living in Los Angeles. I try not to think about it, other than being excited for him. I sure am going to miss him, though. He's my firstborn and quite a guy. ::::sigh::::

I really missed wrestling season this year.. it was odd not going to meets.
Jake really missed wrestling. He is hoping to coach when he gets out of school and begins a teaching career.

Congratulations to your son. Div 1 ... AWESOME!!

As for not knowing what your kids are doing. The cell phone with unlimited minutes for "IN" Verizon customers was a blessing.. we could call or he could call anytime without worry about using too many minutes. As a parent you really have to make an effort to call at different times of the dayand ask your kid lots of ?? Most of the time the kids miss the parents just as much as the parents miss the kids!

Thanks I know you know how important that is to a Wrestler : )

I am in mourning for HS wrestling already , I was the team Mom along with my my best friends and we traveled out of state with the boys also . I will miss them all so bad ! The underclassman are already wondering who will feed them and have invited me to come to all meets next year. The problem with that is that my son wont be on that mat .

My son and his best friend will be seperated for the 1st time since K his Mom and I have become BF because of wrestling and traveling with them . His BF wont be wrestling in college he is staying home and going to UT Arlington . At least he says he will still be coming over here .

Gosh I dont miss the 6 am weigh ins ( so glad when they started driving and could take themselves) or the cheery moods when they were pulling weight :teeth:

I think it has done my boys a world of good to be away from thier friends. They are all good kids, but they need to realize that they need to make choices for themselves and not for their wrestling buddies.

I'll give you a reason not to be too sad...Our youngest (currently 2) is in his crib, randomly screaming "I do not want go seep!" Remember those days?

Aaaaah, to get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Enjoy your freedom. I, for one, am jealous. :thumbsup2

Thanks for that. I remember my DS18 in his crib like it was yesterday...gee, wasn't it just yesterday? And to think he's at his Senior prom tonight. Oh no, now that just made me sad. ;) Seriously, I am so happy for him. He has turned out to be such a terrific young man.

But don't wish these very young years away, you won't believe how fast it all goes. :)

It's not the end, it is the beginning of a whole new wonderful, exciting chapter in your lives!

Good luck to all of the graduates of 2006!

My son wrestles his natural weight thank God ! so not much cutting for him :)

I didnt mind the weigh ins at all my son drove himself but I always showed up with the breakfast stuff anyway . I MISS IT I TELL YA I MISS IT !

I am a little worried about my son being the small fish in the big pond now . He was the Captain of the team and was the big fish I just dont knwo how this will work out for him . He wont be in charge of anything . He takes his leadership very serious . We need to start a Mom with college kids that are away support thred : )

You have faith in the fact that you raised a good kid who will ultimately make the right decisions. nd that even their not-so-great decisions will be learning experiences that they need in order to be confident, productive, well adjusted and humble adults. And you take comfort in the fact that you will always be there to support, guide and comfort them when they need it.

Birds have gotta fly and all of that... It's a weird feeling though especially since they usually seem to be eager to go and we just kind of watch. My only is steadily growing up and it's wonderful and sad at the same time.
