I just returned from a 4 night stay at Boardwalk in a two bedroom. Loved it (my home resort). Just called Memebr Services to book a weekend in November for a two bedroom and there is absolutely no availability for a two bedroom at Boardwalk, Beach club, or VWL for the 2nd weekend in November. I understand it is at the 7mos. window, but come on. I have my home resort at Board Walk, added points on at Beach Club and have added at SSR. Just needed to vent. I know it is Wine & Food at Epcot. What about VWL? I know Old Key West and SSR is available and I can get on the waitlist for others. I was just shocked no two bedrooms available. By the way I am staying already for a week in August at SSR so didn't want to have to stay again in Nov. :confused3

Well, it is the Food and Wine and it is the weekend. At least the locals are planning to not drive drunk. And there are rooms available, just not at your first choice.

I am not shocked at all. I booked October a few weeks ago, inside the seven month window, and I am staying at OKW. I remember when I was trying to decide between SSR and BWV, everyone on the boards said that popular DVC times would get harder and harder to get as we get more and more members. I think they were right. I did buy at BWV and have booked there before the seven month window but I am waitlisted for October at the BWV. But, as long as I get a non smoking room, I will be just fine. Good luck with the waitlist. :wizard:

I understand your frustration -- the Food and Wine Festival is really popular. Last year we tried to get a two bedroom the end of September/beginning of October for a Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun. Mon. and there was nothing at BCV or BWV. We stayed as SSR, which actually turned out fine. We drove over to Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival. There is free parking at the parks for people who stay at the resort.

I thought that the end of September would be easier since it is just the beginning of the festival and somewhat early for Mickey's Halloween Party -- Guess I was wrong. Even Mickey's Halloween Party was crowded.

Good luck with the waitlist. :thumbsup2

So if it is just Food & Wine, why no availabilty at 7mos. at VWL? It just goes back to having points where you want to stay for the 11 mos. priority. It seems that the 7mos. window will be tougher and tougher as other people have predicted. I will give OKW another try. The first time we stayed ther was prior to pool renovations and had two kids under three which made it tough with the double stroller up the stairs on the third floor rooms.

Last week I switched a two-bedroom ressie from OKW to BWV for Oct 30-Nov 3. I guess I should thank my lucky stars (or thank Tinker Bell for her pixie dust) that I was able to switch.

I think you chose a "double-whammy" weekend -- not only is it F & W, but also Super Soap weekend. I guess that WL must be the next choice after BWV and BCV for that event? ;)

I'm surprised you are shocked by this. :confused3 As the membership grows seven month bookings will be tougher to come by. Add to this that you are looking to stay during F&W Fest. A real shocker would have been that you actually got a booking at those resorts. SSR is available, why not SSR other than your August stay?

This is exactly why I gave up the Friends and Family deal and paid more for BWV. All the advice about buy where you want to stay and how tough its going to be once that 7 month mark comes around. I'm also very glad I booked our November stay back in February.......Just book SSR and waitlist for the BWV, more than likely you will get in. Good Luck.....

You are from New Jersey? I could be wrong but isn't the 2nd weekend the infamous Jersey Week? I tried booking that weekend (while living in Jersey) one year. Not only was it a struggle to get Beach Club the airfare was a killer and never came down.

I looked it up and yes the NJEA teachers convention is that weekend in Atlantic City. So that's your answer. F&W, Super Soap and Jersey Week.

I have booked the NJEA weekend since I have been a member and never had problems previously, going back to 2000. I will need to pay attention to my use of points at my home resorts when booking. i used my Boardwalk points this past weekend so had none left for an 11 month booking. I don't have enough total points at Beach Club, only 100 points for a 2 bedroom stay for the 4 nights I was looking for. Just thought I'd share my experience as it will not get better making a 7 mos. reservation at the "smaller DVC resorts" as more people join at SSR and it continues to grow in size.

I know how you feel. I booked an October week at SSR b/c it's the only one available. I'm waitlisted at both BWV (my home resort) and VWL. I wonder if maybe Disney will make the 7 month window a 5 month or less window? I have to admit I don't have the opportunity to book 11 months in advance to take advantage of my home resort advantage. I did book a January trip, but I'll most likely have to cancel it.

Just to make you feel better I missed the 11 mo booking window by three weeks waiting to decide what our definitive dates would be for our November 5-11 trip. We are owners at BWV and I was disappointed that I couldn't get BWV SV 2BR. We settled for a PV and eliminated one of the weekend nights due to the points it cost. Then we tried to move this reservation to VWL (we really want to stay there because we've heard such great things on the boards about it). Called exactly 7 mo out and we're waitlisted there. Hope you get what you want.

VWL is the smallest resort and most popular in the fall and winter months. It also has a very loyal follow among is home resort owners. Its closest to the MK, so it appeals more to people who antcipate spending a lot of time riding Dumbo.

Stay at OKW , at least you will be in Disney.

"At least??!!" Yeah, and I bet "some of your best friends" own at OKW.

I understand. For me, the only true resorts are Cont and Poly. In a way I only feel "there" if I stay one of these. Everything else was just an add on.

Actually the 2nd weekend of November this year is a triple wammy
1. Food & wine
2. Soap weekend
3 Veterans Day is Friday the 10th, (Holiday in Mass)

There pros and cons to all the resorts (haven't stayed a SSR yet)

Love the themeing at WVL - but hate the transportation
Love Beach Club location, pool, rooms - but hate the high point cost
Love BW location & point value - but hate the fact they have no 2bdrm lockoffs

When I call to book i hope i get my first choice, but always have a back up plan if that is booked and just go on a waitlist (if it comes thru its always such a nice surprise) Usually I'm just excited about going to disney and am happy i have a place to stay.

I was just about to post that this was Veteran's Day weekend, looks like someone beat me to it :teeth: But there is a lot going on that weekend....

Personally, we own at BW & OKW, but our last trip we stayed at SSR & we all really liked it... so the moral of the story is, all the resorts are different & each of them has their own charm... I'm glad we stayed there & I'm sure we'll stay there again some time :)

And it's the end of "Jersey week", too.

Does that make it a quadruple whammy? :)

Best wishes -
