DH and I don't live too far from Disney, so we use our DVC points frequently. I am becoming increasingly hardpressed to remember a stay when I didn't have to clean the bathroom before using it. Does housekeeping even bother to clean the shower/bathroom floor/sinks at all anymore? I'm not talking about a stray hair here and there...I'm talking about lots of hair in the shower, lots of hair on the bathroom floor, hair in the sink, etc. We stayed at BWV last night, and it was quite clear that the bathroom had not been cleaned at all between guests. The towels had been replaced and fresh soap/shampoo was provided, but that was it. I had to clean the shower this morning before we used it.

This same scenario happened to us last month at BCV. It makes me seriously wonder about things that are less obvious (like whether or not the sheets are getting changed between guests)! My DH thinks that we should email someone about this, as it is getting to be a regular occurance. I don't know who to email, and I'm quite confident that the email would probably get ignored anyways. Sorry for the vent, but I'm just getting beyond grossed out that the cleanliness standards seem to be going down while the dues that pay for said cleaning services are not going down commesurately!

We've never experienced this, although I know other folks have.

If it happened to me, I'd handle it two ways. First of all, when I checked in and found what was wrong, I absolutely would not clean it up myself. I'd call housekeeping, let them know that I was not happy (without reaming them out, which just kills their motivation to help), and ask them to reclean the room ASAP. They'd very likely comply within a couple of hours. If not, I'd stay on top of them until they did.

Second, I'd certainly send an e-mail to the resort with a copy to Member Services. I'm quite confident that the email would get read, would be shared at the next staff meeting, and might even get me a return phone call. Each resort has customer service representatives and that's how they handle these things. If management saw that your email was part of a pattern, then they'd take action.

If we all followed a procedure like this, can you imagine how powerful an influence it would have on DVC management?

So sorry to hear that this has happened to you.

We've been fortunate to have almost pristine accomodations at the DVC properties.

Best of luck in the future.

Our room at SSR was spotless.

Did you let the housekeeping Super know about the problem while you were there. That is the best time to deal with the problem as the Super can come and see first hand what you are talking about.

Reporting a problem after you leave then becomes a case of he said, she said etc.

I would contact the front desk and ask for either the manager or someone in charge to come to my room and look at the mess. They need to know what is going on. I would definately contact housekeeping also. The problem needs to be handled at the moment or it will get lost in the process. Management won't know what to change unless they are informed right away and see it for themselves.

I don't understand why you put up with this.....call the front desk and housekeeping (as mentioned before ....be polite) and ask them to send someone in to clean again....ask to have the sheets changed also if you are unsure that they're clean. Someone is being paid and not performing the job they're being paid for, and when you go to a hotel for the night you shouldn't have to clean up someone elses mess.

At this point, I hope you have the dates and room numbers you stayed, and report it...it may be the same employee at both places....send an e-mail to MS and explain what happened.

Going down in less than a week, and hope I don't have the same problem, but if I do, I can assure you...I will not be cleaning up someone elses mess, the employees will be.

Hope you have better luck next stay!

Wow. We've been there 330 times (average) and not experienced any of this. If I had, I would be running to the phone or front desk to get it cleaned up.

What did they do?

We've gone dozens and dozens of times and only once expericenced a situation where we were concerned. Why didn't you simply pick up the phone and call housekeeping to take care of it?????

It's wacko to think you should feel you need to do this--call, request service for an unsatifactory condition.

We checked in at around 9PM last night, and we were only there for the night. Honestly, I didn't even think about calling someone else to come clean it up. After our last few stays, I just figured that this was par for the course and I accepted it. I guess that I shouldn't have.

We needed to use the bathroom to wash up before bed, and I wasn't going to wait around for someone else to come clean it, though. This morning, we needed to use the shower and again I wasn't going to wait around for someone to come clean it. If I have more time in the future to wait for someone to come clean, then I'll definitely call the front desk. This morning, we had an early AM appt. that we had to make locally, so I couldn't have waited.

I just don't recall having this issue in years past. Now it seems like it happens every time we spend the night in a DVC resort :(

They can not fix it if you do not tell them about it. Even if your situation, at least let the night manager know immediately that the room was not guest ready when you entered.

Had a problem with clean sheets at a well known brand hotel chain. I got the manager up there pronto and reported it to the chain. Four things happened.

1. It got cleaned up fast. (manager proved skillful at sheet changing)
2. Got free room (didn't ask for it, but should have)
3. Was informed the person responsible no longer worked there as of that
moment. It was obvious the bed was remade without a sheet change.
4. Got a letter of apology.

By all means find out who to contact and contact them. Make a copy of your post with a six word sentence written on top.

"Is someone(s) getting paid too much??

Its very important that even if you don't want them to come up and take care of it, you let the housekeeping manager and/or the resort manager know there is a problem. Disney is one of those companies that collects data and statistics like crazy - and I bet "room redos" is one of the items they track. Sending someone up to clean a room that they've already "cleaned" is not good. I read a post here recently that indicated mousekeeping gets paid based at least partly on how many rooms they clean - if that is true, Disney already paid someone to clean that room.

I have been a DVC member for almost twelve years. I had housekeeping/engineering issues last December. The issues did not effect using the bathroom or the bed. It was late Sunday night (first night) before I realized how many issues I had. I left a message on the housekeeping supervisor's voice mail about midnight. I let him know nicely that I was not pleased with the condition of the room in general. I gave him specifics. By 8:30 the next morning the supervisor was calling me back! In less than two hours everything was taken care of. An engineering CM fixed what needed to be fixed. I had a housekeeping CM who was very thorough plus a supervisor came later to follow-up.

Here I go again :) ... DVC guests (members especially) should NOT come back after a stay at DVC & complain to us about various issues. We cannot do anything about it on this bb. One must speak up at the time of their stay. If you do not know who to contact, then call the front desk & explain your concern. It is up to everyone - members, housekeeping, engineering, etc. - to work together to make the DVC a pleasant stay. If a light bulb blowsout, if a faucet is leaking, whatever, let someone at DVC know.

I appreciate the info. Keeps me on my toes when I'm cleaning up the place. :rolleyes1:

And us members alert!!!!!

It's not just DVC. Our friends stayed at BC, not the villas, and had numerous issues, including dirty, stained sheets being put on the bed. She called immediately and things were resolved.

We always call when we find things not up to standards. They can't fix what they don't know is broken.

I've seen plenty of these stories, but I am also one who has yet to experience it first hand after half a dozen or so stays. (Not questioning your story, just offering my experience as well.)

Ditto for me!

FWIW, I don't doubt the OP's experience. I do think the few negative experiences (relative to the many good experiences) tend to get way too much attention on these boards. But that's human nature - and it's just so much more fun to discuss the negative than the "I had a good time and everything was wonderful" posts, LOL!

Best wishes -

i had maintenance issues but never housekeeping. housekeeping been great to me. i had a couple of maintenance issues one with the washing machine and another one with the toilet. they took their time to fix it

Friend just came back from BCV and he thought the place was very dirty and worn down.

I seem to always get the broken clothes dryer, or should I say, whenever my parents join us I get a broken clothes dryer....but other than that (and maintenance was prompt and courteous with the repair) I've only had housekeeping issues once.

Since that one time I do an inspection upon entering my room.....if I were to find cleanliness issues I would immediately call housekeeping for a re-cleaning, asking to speak with the supervisor. If it were late when I checked in, I would do my best to get a different room....after all, why should my family have to wait for our supposedly ready room to be cleaned?

After reading a thread on one of the other boards I'm thinking on our next stay I'll be washing the blankets and bedcovers when we arrive!

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, but they can't fix something they don't know about.
