No, Mike, I do not feel they should call each DVC member. I , however, expect them to have a policy as to how information is disseminated. As to the email, I will look back at my account and see if it is there BUT I am fairly certain I have not been notified. It also appears that I am not the only one to have recieved "nothing" regarding the notification. With all this said, I am not upset but was rather surprised because when Animal Kingdom was released, we recieved a packet indicating such. So my "jilted" comment was simply in jest ... but I find humor much more enjoyable to read than sarcasm.

We live in Virginia and one of the last resorts was not allowed to be sold to us here for about 2 weeks after it was announced and we received nothing. Later we got the information when they were allowed to. If we were at WDW they could tell us all about it. Much later we mentioned it to our guide and he told us that is what happened. Even if we called the guide or anyone else could not discuss it with us. That could be the reason. We got the emails and booklets by snail mail. DW's booklet came the day before mine.

-I checked again and my e-mail address is current on the DVC website and I did not receive an e-mail. It is set to receive all news and updates.

-I did not receive any snail mail.

-I was AT Old Key West when this was announced and still heard nothing. My guide knew I was there, as I stopped by to see him a few days before the announcement. I even went to SSR to look at the AKV model rooms on Thursday after the announcement and no one said a word about BLT.

What would you recommend? I am most concerned about consistently not receiving e-mails. I checked with our network administrator and he says they are not going to any bit bucket.

If they actually emailed and snail mailed each of their members that are willing and able to receive such information, I would say yes, they did a good job. But looking at the numbers of folks who have received nothing (myself included), there is no excuse.

I happened to pop into DIS this weekend and was thinking how amazing it is that they don't communicate this stuff. Now I realize they communicate to some and even give them an option to buy in early, but not me (not that I'm interested in BLT, happy with THV)!

I'm miffed, too.

Kudos to Michelle!!! PM me her phone number. I am not pleased with my guide. I had Mike Brunson who was FANTASTIC but now he is gone to higher duties. At this time, I do not even know who my guide is. He called once but never sent the card he promised. To go a bit further, I even specified that if the Contempoary ever has Villas I would be intersted. Sorry for the rant but am currently looking for a new guide. I do think that a guide has the obligation/opportunity to inform the folks they deal with when news that comes up. As Michelle exemplifies, the good ones do.

I believe it was $112 a point. Is that right? Anybody? Bueller?

I did get the email, it was way after I read it here on the board. I don't blame Disney for that.

It is nowhere near soldout. I think someone was referring to the "founder's list" for the first 100 who buy.

There's no possible way it's almost sold out already. It has about 7 million points to sell. At 160 points per contract, that's 43,750 contracts. That's a lot of folks. BLT may sell out in a few months (which some guides are saying, though it sounds preposterous) or a little over a year (more likely) but the chances that it sold out before it even technically went on sale are nil. Now, the Founding Member list may be full, but that's not all that many people.

As for it not being 'fair', it's not that Disney doesn't want to part you from your money. As we know, they're more than happy to do that! However, certain states have laws (to protect their citizens) about how close to occupancy/% complete/assorted-other-things a timeshare must be before it can legally be sold to residents of that state. That's also why, in some states, you can't purchase over the phone -- because there have been lots of problems with fraudulent (non-DVC) timeshares in the past where people purchased timeshares sight-unseen that were un-and-never-to-be-finished/not what was promised/non-existent. Disney's just following the law.

The information is also available on the DVC Member's site. Sales begin tomorrow - September 21, 2008 - for members only. General sales begin on October 5, 2008.

Emails were sent to members of record this past Tuesday. You might make sure your email address is current thru the Member's site.

Because I spend so much time here, I knew about emails being sent to members about BLT. I never got an email and when I checked, mine is correct at the member site. I also checked my spam folder - nothing there either.

Same here but I just checked my preferences and noticed Disney Vacation Club E-mail communications including special offers was not checked. Not sure how this happened but probably explains why I didn't get an email.

We really like BLT but will probably not buy there, but the point being made by MANY is that MS seems to be hit and miss as of late. Honestly folks this is the information age, and yes snail mail is needed but REALLY if you use the DVC site, you use this site, email blogging seems like someone at Disney Corperation is missing a very large potential sales group. And what a huge $$ savings to use mostly email vs. "stamps" for snail mail Consider ALL the members and how much it would have cost to send out via snailmail notice's to all of us. Now consider the same group and how cheaply email can be done.

HECK we love bout anything Disney/DVC and would have been great to been given the heads up if only a couple weeks earlier then the general public. We are those type ppl that try to sell EVERYONE on the advantages of Disney and DVC.

Email is not a reliable delivery mechanism. Never has been. I used to get yelled at by professors who said they may miss out on grant money because the proposal they sent in via email was never received, like _I_ had something to do with it and was responsible for mail servers at other places. I'd yell back and say why the heck were you risking money via email in the first place? And this was before the days of spam.

However, an email to everyone should at least have reached a great many more people than has been reported (with the exception of some of the legal issues in some states). But I am my own email admin - I own the box, manage the box, control the spam filters, etc - and I did not receive anything from DVC via email. Given that I got something in snailmail, legal issues didn't seem to be the reason.

The web site as a notification medium doesn't really work because you have to GO to the web site. How many DVC members religiously log into the DVC site every day?

I got my mailing in snail mail today.(New Mexico) Very nice presentation, and I have to say I really like the look and am much more interested now than when it was first speculated about. However, that pesky thing called retirement savings is in the way so I'll just hold out for my planned GCV

I received a packet with full details and all points chart and pricing. I also got the emails. It mentions $112 a point and for a limited time a $5 discount but I believe this may be in combination with the founder program.

I can understand that from a "cold-calling" standpoint, but when we already belong and this is being offered "first" to "members", where do we fall in that? Just because we live in Michigan? We get all the other info regarding add-ons and when AK was first for sale. I feel this was poorly sent out by DVC. As a matter of fact, I just received a very non-informative e-mail a couple of hours ago.

Also, I don't know if they still do this, but if you were a member and you referred somebody and they became a member (which we gave friends of ours names who lived in Ohio and Kentucky) they got a spiff for the referral, but that is not "legal" in Michigan. So we could get 10 new families to join and get nothing but somebody in another state is getting gift cards and additional points.
