Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

Brenda - Great update as usual.

You don't really expect me to cook anything, do you?

Are those receipes that were actually served at the F&W festival. If that's right how cool and what a cool memory.

Pins in the box...

Pins outta the box...

I just actually started collecting pins and I think those are grand. The Stars Wars pin was cute too.

Love it. Did she?

[Benda models her fabulous new digs!

So cute.

Oh I totally agree with the dried tomato thingy too. No beer with the preztel dog, huh?

[This pretzel roll is nekkid!!!

Looks perfect just the way it is. I think I might have put some yellow mustard on it too.;)

Thus ends the day ... how unsatisfied are you?!

I'm always satisfied after reading your TR and I'm not trying to suck up either.
Can't wait for more.

Laura

Hi Sistah Paige! Thanks for reading and can I just say: Blesh your hearth? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Barbie-doll my butt ... :lmao:

Cass is terrific at scrapbooking - I've seen some of her digital stuff and it's amazing. She should be working professionally at it and earning a fortune. I'd never ask her to do that for me ... I might ask her for a few tips, but I think you have to put your own sweat and tears into your own memory-making.

Gack! I sound like a Hallmark commercial. I'm gonna go get some booze! :lmao:

I cry at Hallmark commercials.... :sad1:

& I lose track of how many pills I get to take... differs by the day and the color...me likes the pink ones... :cutie: Too bad they're not illegal in over 36 countries... :confused3

Wow Brenda, you are such a shopper!
Do you bring an extra suitcase?
Love your pretty pink shirt and those bracelets are really lovely.

I also bought the pin set; they really are cute and good quality.
I split them up and gave them to a few friends and my daughter.
She loves all things Japanese, so I gave her the cute Minnie in the Kimono.
BTW, she has a year long teaching assignment at Tokyo International University starting in July. I guess Tokyo DL will be in my future.

Looking forward to your LV trip. I'm really excited for you and Jay.

Deb

Brenda - Great update as usual.

Are those receipes that were actually served at the F&W festival. If that's right how cool and what a cool memory.

Thanks Laura! Yes, the recipes included in the Festival cookbook are for all the items offered at the various booths around the World Showcase. It's always a nice keepsake and Epcot has really worked on improving the presentation over the years.

The only thing that kind of stinks (and this is a minor complaint) is that some booths pretty much offer the same thing from year-to-year and so now we have something like three or four of the same quesadilla recipes and five of the same cheddar cheese soup recipes. :rotfl2:

I just actually started collecting pins and I think those are grand. The Stars Wars pin was cute too.

These are beautiful pins - I guess they're not really meant for trading but rather as a collector's item and that probably explains why they quality was so much nicer than the standard pin.

And we just think the Spudtrooper and Darth Tater are a riot!

Love it. Did she?

Actually she did like it quite a bit, especially because she never would have bought something like that for herself.

Thanks!

Oh I totally agree with the dried tomato thingy too. No beer with the preztel dog, huh?

Finally! Anti-sun dried tomato solidarity!! ;)

As for the beer ... I was too lazy to go to another stand and order beer from another CM. And the funny thing is that a few nights later when we went to beer / pretzel stand in Germany they were out of Oktoberfest and something else. They told me to go inside to the Biergarten to get my beer ... :confused3 Jay and I ended up taking the advice of a very friendly, overly-enthusiastic man wearing a strange form of laterhosen (I know I spelled that wrong) who insisted that we try Spaten.

For someone who seemed a wee bit manic his advice was sound - the Spaten was excellent!

Looks perfect just the way it is. I think I might have put some yellow mustard on it too.;)

YUMMY!

I'm always satisfied after reading your TR and I'm not trying to suck up either.
Can't wait for more.

Laura

Well thank you very much! :flower3: And I never would have considered it sucking up since you have nothing to gain by being nice to me...unless we end up at WDW at the same time some day and I can buy you a nice alcoholic squishee or some such thing.

I cry at Hallmark commercials.... :sad1:

& I lose track of how many pills I get to take... differs by the day and the color...me likes the pink ones... :cutie: Too bad they're not illegal in over 36 countries... :confused3

I cry at Star Trek episodes ... hell, I can cry watching paint dry if the hormones are out of whack. :rotfl2:

Sounds like you "win" in the pill popping department.

Wow Brenda, you are such a shopper!
Do you bring an extra suitcase? Love your pretty pink shirt and those bracelets are really lovely.

Hi Deb! Oh, I really have to exercise restraint when we're at WDW. I find myself wanting to buy all kinds of stuff that immediately loses its luster once we're home and back into the harsh light of reality. ;)

I love the shirt! And even though I'm not normally a bracelet person I get a lot of compliments on it when I do wear it.

Those pins are lovely - I hope they have something equally as nice this year.

WOW! Congrats to your daughter - how exciting is that? And yes, I think Tokyo DL is definitely something you should consider!! :thumbsup2 You have the perfect reason to go!

Looking forward to your LV trip. I'm really excited for you and Jay.

Deb

Thanks! We're definitely getting excited and just talked with Jay's aunt & uncle, who live in Henderson, last night. They laughed themselves silly when we told them about all the eating we had planned but they're such nice people and so much fun - they want to come along for the ride on a couple of nights!

B...a krautless veena???? (Said in my best German accent). Tell me this isn't so. :scared1: If I were the CM I probably would've given you my best "coulda had a V-8" knock on the forehead. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
(I do agree that brown mustard is a "must have" though.):thumbsup2

Funny how I'd eat this stuff by the buckets yet not touch 3/4's of the stuff you eat. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

As usual, the update was great and the desserts even greater.

P.S. Was Herr Plankton left behind that day?:sad2:

Great update. I love the cookbook and bracelet. Bummer about the opium bed, it would have been fun but I understand about the waste of money when you'd only use it for a few hours.

I am glad to see you sprung for the F&W Cookbook. It is the one souvenir we always get. I have 6 of them sitting on my bookshelves. I don't think they had them in the earlier years, or they were gone when we went, or something!

Ok,
I've got that scrapbook (but have yet to do anything wonderful with it).

I saw that tshirt in December and wanted it so badly (pink and Mickey Mouse!!) but my fat arms would look horrible in it. (You look too cute.)

I felt it was an excellent update. Chocolate, clothes and jewelry!! What more could a girl want? (Well, maybe Off Kilter......);)

Fraulein Goose ... mein Deutsch is not good ... er, I hate sauerkraut but loves me some sausage.

Thanks for reading and to turn things around on you ... think about the stuff I will eat and then consider why I won't touch sauerkraut. :lmao:

We didn't bring Plankton as much on this trip ... We'd already captured a lot of him taking over the World Showcase in 2006, so we felt like it would have been repetitive. And since Jay is the keeper of Plankton, I didn't want to bother him too much when he wasn't feeling up to snuff, ya know? :goodvibes

Great update!

Thanks Hedy!! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading Deb! I still sigh a little over the opium bed, but once we're out in Vegas I'm sure all Jay has to do is find me a nice lounger at the pool and stick a frothy alcoholic drink in my hand for all to be right with the world. ;)

We always buy the cookbook, even with the recipe repeats! A few years back (maybe 2003?) the cookbook was the same size as the F&W program and it was nothing much to look at it. I like them much better now and they make great gifts (we always buy a few extras for people we know and give them out at the holidays).

Thanks for reading!

Every time I respond today someone else posts in the middle and then I miss them! :rotfl2:

How are you Lynn? It's nice to see you! :goodvibes

I have big plans for that scrapbook, but right now I can't even find a good picture of Jay and me to put in the photo-window on the front cover. :lmao:

I'm sure you would have looked great in that pink shirt ... go buy yourself one during your next visit (is that June?) if they still have them. :thumbsup2

Thanks for reading!

oybolshoi, I see where you are using your age (not all that old IMO) as an excuse to say anything or do anything you want. I bet you were just the same way from the time you were born. Fess up. :rotfl2:

No one thinks MY accent in interesting. I speak "Hillbilly" fluently and just enough of other languages to get INTO trouble and not enough to get OUT.:confused3

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your shopping goodies Brenda! I love the shirt that you treated yourself too! What a great DH Jay is to buy you such a beautiful bracelet for your birthday.:thumbsup2 Your writing is just so entertaining that you always leave me wanting more so hurry back please!:woohoo:

Nice new avatar! :thumbsup2

Good update.
John said about the lack of beer at the German pavillion "That's just wrong."
:lmao:

I think the beer flight at Biergarten is why he still thinks of that restaurant fondly. And why he is smiling in all the pictures we took at the Italian fountain. But I digress...

I like the sauerkraut, but not the brown mustard. ick.
Between us we could lick the platter clean.

And way back to your likes and dislikes:
I don't know if you watch LOST, but there was a hilarious moment involving "Dharma Wine in a Box."
:happytv:
Nothin' says funny like wine in a generic black and white box.

Ok, back to whatever you care to talk about in your trip report.
I'm hanging out here to avoid working on mine. :rolleyes1

ETA: I'm not a big jewelry person, but that's some mighty nice bling!

We found another "Star Wars" pin that we couldn't resist... I only wish now that I'd bought a second one so that I could have sent it to Jusmom's son. I'm not sure if she's even reading at this point, but a few months back she very kindly sent us an HRC pin from her city and I've been trying to think of a good way to repay her thoughtfulness. Too bad I came up with such a great idea six months after our trip.

A Spudtrooper!!!

Hey girl, thanks for the shout out...of course we are still reading, and are a wee bit jealous...we had to cancel our May trip.:sad2: We are going to the old favorite, Disneyland, in of all months, August.:scared1:
After reading your great reports, eventually we will have to make a trip during Food & Wine:thumbsup2
Also, love the blog.

I confess!! I confess!! :lmao: Although when I was younger I was lot more concerned about being "nice." My mother drummed it into my head that girls were supposed to be "nice to people."

Not that I go around being mean ... all the time ... but I'm a heck of a lot less worried about what people think about me and the choices I make now. I've learned that in the overall scheme of things it just isn't that important as long as my conscience is satisfied.

No one thinks MY accent in interesting. I speak "Hillbilly" fluently and just enough of other languages to get INTO trouble and not enough to get OUT.:confused3

SG/Linda

I think all accents are interesting ... really. I'm always fascinated and a little amused by the dialects and accents just here in the US.

BTW, it's nice to see you posting again SG. :goodvibes

Thanks so much - I'm glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for the kind words ... you just made my morning.

Nice new avatar! :thumbsup2

Somehow the crazy, inarticulate Cat Lady seemed appropriate ... I usually look like that the morning after a drink-fest, except that I don't throw cats at people. ;)

Good update.

It is wrong to find yourself in the Americanized version of Bavaria only to be told that there is no beer. It's like going to the Magic Kingdom and being told there are no Mickey Bars ... OK, that's a bad analogy but I think we're all coming from the same place here.

And I'll he honest ... I didn't feel like going to another location in "Germany" and trying to scare up a beer. Too lazy ... so perhaps it just wasn't that important after all? :confused3

Some day ... I think ... we're going to try Biergartern if I can work my way past a deeply held fear of most items on their menu.

And way back to your likes and dislikes:
I don't know if you watch LOST, but there was a hilarious moment involving "Dharma Wine in a Box."

I always think of Dave Chappelle when I see or hear about wine in a box ... and then I start laughing hysterically and things just go from bad to worse.

Yeah, what about your TR?

I'm trying to finish this one up soon since we leave for Vegas in 19 days - yeah baby! And we have an uber-fancy dinner (for Stinktown) next Saturday that I'm also hoping to review on our blog.

Hey girl, thanks for the shout out...of course we are still reading, and are a wee bit jealous...we had to cancel our May trip.:sad2: We are going to the old favorite, Disneyland, in of all months, August.:scared1:

Hi Jusmom - glad to know you're still here! :goodvibes

And so sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip for this May ..

Disneyland will still be fun ... will it be crowded in August or hot like it would be in Florida, or God forbid, both?

Let me know if you aren't able to find a spudtrooper for your son - Jay and I will look for one in October and send it your way. :goodvibes

After reading your great reports, eventually we will have to make a trip during Food & Wine:thumbsup2

Also, love the blog.

You'd probably love the F&W Festival ... it's glorious good times!

And thanks for the props on the blog - I still have a lot of work to do on it, but I want to try to finish up here first.

Just wanted to wish our friend Rob all the best in his endeavors at the World Showcase today!!! :goodvibes

We're pulling for you, man ... do us proud!!! :thumbsup2

OMG loving all the minging (we add a g in England :rotfl2:) chat that you and Kirsteen were having :lmao: I would love to hear you saying it in a sentance :rotfl:

Love the bracelet, so pretty :)
