We are considering purchasing After Hours tickets for our trip to HS in July, but I'm worried that going to Fantasmic will cut into the After Hours too much. I know from previous experience that leaving Fantasmic can be somewhat of a pain, but we wouldn't be exiting the park.

Any thoughts?

Well AF would appear to be 9:30pm-12:30am and looks like at least part of July Fantasmic starts at 9:30pm so yes it would be cutting into the AF time by 29 minutes plus the amount of time it takes to exit the show area.
Only you can decide if that's "too much".

It's one of those toss ups for us, I was hoping to see an EEH date be released while we are there so we didn't have to purchase AF

For me it'll be worth it in August. I haven't seen Fantasmic in a hot minute - and I specifically went with AH tickets to avoid having to spend a whole day's ticket at Studios when I really only do a few things there. I figure I'll plan to enter at 7:00 when you're allowed and try to do a couple of things, then hit Fantasmic, then hit whatever I have left to hit, grab some diet Coke and a Mickey bar, and not feel stressed to stay the whole time.

I would do the after hours event esp in July when so hot. Is there not earlier fantasmic
