so who's going and who's working it? what houses and scare zones are you looking forward to?

the hunted, freaked, and bone grinders look promising to me.

We are going Sat., Oct. 15. We are considering the Embalming Tour but at $130 per person I'll need the second mortgage approved first. DS17 and I are suckers for Bill and Ted so I've got high hopes for the "Haunt Me Baby One More Time" Show. For houses I'm looking forward to "Freaked" and Scare Zones - "Bone Grinders". We're looking forward to staying at the HRH again.
We are going to do the BooZoo at Lowry Park too. I love Halloween!

I'm actually working HoS this year.

I'll be inside "Deathly Departed," (the bumper car house).

Freaked is just a retread of Darkhearts, which was very disappointing last year. supposedly they weren't given much to work with this year, but from what I heard, it may turn out to be pretty good.

BUT, it sounds like the houses to beat will be the two all-new houses, After Hours and The Hunted.

But its not exclusive to passholders, they just get discounted tickets, except for Platinum Passholders who get in for free, but anybody can attend.

But, Friday the 30th also doubles as Employee Night.

For everyone who visits HoS, make sure you hit each house, including good ole Deathly Departed!

Platinum Passes get you in for free on the 30th and 1st. Everyone else has to pay.

Slacking, since its my DD11's 12th birthday I'm going to pop for the 8 hour exclusive Embalming Tour. Do you know any tour guides to recommend? I think it should be a younger female to make my daughter a little more comfortable. She almost went to HHN last year but bailed in the last minute. I think she would have done fine with our RIP Tour Guide, Deanna, but I won't force the kids into anything they don't want to do, except brush their teeth, wipe the dirt off their feet, get off the phone, do the dishes, fold the clothes, study, wash the car, turn off PS2 and clean up their dog's mess.
I know that all 6 coasters will be operating but are the water rides going to be open?
We will have to tour the Deathly Departed! You are working Saturday the 15th? Keep us abreast of the best houses after you experience employee's night. VIP Tours said that we can pretty much write our own agenda. We start at 5:30 so after the Fright Feast we will hit the Houses and we all know that they are best with fewer people in line.
What are we going to do until 2 in the morning? I want to go to the Bucs/Phins Game Sunday! I'll be lucky to crawl out of bed to watch it at HRH's Big Joe's Sports Bar downstairs.

Slacking, I tried to email you but it says you dont have that feature turned on. Anyways you NEED to help me. Theres so many places to get info on HHN but I havent been able to find anything other than the main website for HOWL O SCREAM. I need info lol I will be attending Saturday Oct 1st. I went last year and absolutely loved the event. Is there anything special I should know about this year? Which is going to be the "best" house in your opinion? Is the dinner buffet/ "Haunt me baby" worth it? Last year my favorite house was Til Death do us Part. Has it been improved/modified this year? Which scarezone do you think is going to be the best? Any additional comments or tid bits would be greatly appreciated. I just need some info to start getting pumped up like I am for HHN (9/30) THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Thats odd, I can't be e-mailed, I'll try fixing that later.

I've only seen one house, but the consensus seems to be that "The Hunted" may be the house to beat this year. Its located in Kenya, a new location for a HoS house. "After Hours" (where Escape from Insanity used to be) is supposed be much-talked about too. Definitely an interesting theme to that house, but I won't ruin it here.

The Dinner buffet will get you 30 minutes of haunted house time before before the park officially opens (but those who go to Deathly Departed after eating won't see me, I have my first shift at 7:30pm, lol), and saves you time for later since you would already have seen the show. Honestly, in 30 minutes you could probably do The Hunted, After Hours, and 3rd Dementia, leaving most of the evening to be relaxing with plenty of time to do the houses multiple times. I'm neutral either way whether or not the fright feast is worth it, but it does give you a nice head start to the night (but whether the head start will be encessary this week remains to be seen.)

"Til Death Do Us Part" has been renamed "Deathly Departed" this year. It is very similar to the house last year, but some new rooms have been added, the ending has been completely changed, and a few other tweaks have been made. Overall, I think it'll be a better house this year.

As for scare zones, I think the most interesting will be Bone Grinders (lots of props in a small space, hopefully there is a good size cast there) and Widows Walk. Widows Walk doesn't have props out, but from what I know, it sounds to be very moody, so I hope its done well!

I actually think this year may be a great year for HoS, it sounds like it will be very well done. I actually have my final dress rehearsal in a few minutes, so hopefully I'll have a feel for "Deathly Departed" in its finished form. If you have any more questions, please e-mail me at Slacking20@msn.com, or just post them here.

Mother Fletcher, I gotta run, but I'll respond to your post after my rehearsal.

the HOS site is posted that platinum passes only get you into Friday or Saturday free, not both. that's not as cool as I thought. we'll probably go to SeaWorld now on Saturday. I widh Corporate Nightmare would have made the return to this year, we witnessed the original before it was destroyed by the hurricane. that was a great house. this year's lineup is looking pretty strong. scare the crap out of Slacking.

So how did rehearsals go Slacking? How do you feel about Deathly Departed now that you've seen everything come together (minus the guests of course)? What kind of character are you going to be playing? In regards to "The Hunted"...the website shows like some woods and a Cabin...is this house supposed to be themed like if you were "outside"? Or are you actually journeying (spelling?) into the cabin?

On a side note...Im assuming you have already ridden Sheikra. How would you classify is on a scale from 1-10 in terms of intesity? Could you compare with KUMBA or Montu etc...

IM SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED about this weekend. I know I will have a blast. Last year was my first year doing HOS and HHN and I have become obsessed with the events. This will definately become an annual ritual for me. BTW, I was more scared in HOS last year than HHN.

IMO
Sheikra is becoming one of my favorites the more I ride it. Montu is fun, but I don't ride unless the wait for the front is low. I love Kumba in the back and how it never seems to stop throwing you through the elements at high speed. Sheikra is somewhere in the middle. front row is definately the best. the pause at the top of the drop and then the G's at the bottom, it feels like a punch in the stomach. it's very fast, very smooth. it's not a long ride but a nice combo of elements. Stanleyville is actaully a great place to hang out in the park now. :)

Rehearsals went well. BUT, my costume disappeared, so hopefully I'll have one by Friday night! And, my voice is gone.... already!

After walking through DD inhabited with scareactors, I have to say, its a great house, and it is much better than "Til Death" was last year. The complaints I had about Til Death were fixed and some new scares were added, its lot sof fun! I'm the Groundskeeper and can be found in the garden.

i'm not sure if you are themed to be in the woods or cabin, but I would guess cabin for two reasons. 1- facade of the house, kind of looks like a cabin, and 2- the house seems to be indoors. Thats all I know, I went to HHN employee preview tonight instead of getting the chance to walk through The Hunted and Freaked!

what ruined 'til death' for us last year was the bride snuck out the back and rode Kumba with her boyfriend with us. :)

My screams very quickly turned into raspy grunts, but I had a blast last night scaring people. I'm pretty easy to see, but that doesn;t stop the scares, lol.

MotherFletcher- I saw 2 tour guides going through the house last night. Both females, both scared easily, but not quite sure they are the ones you'd want... if you know what i mean. ;)
