Prospective renters keep asking for a cheaper rate because too many DVCers keep giving in to that request. I dont know why, but many sellers must figure no one will ever come along and give them the "asking" price. You can tell from the types of rental adds on the R&T board, many DVCers only go there to dump points. Some appear to have minimal understanding of the entire DVC reservations operation. Many have never posted on the DIS or participated in this community (at least under the same user name). If I were renting, I'd never fork over my money to a R&T board "dump and run" seller. I'd pay more for someone with a DIS history that can be at least be reviewed. Many prospective renters are equally clueless having unrealistic expectations, wanting a less than All Star price, etc.
When I rent, I want to rent to someone who understands the DVC system to some degree, and has done some homework. By asking a slightly higher price, that has been my "customer" experience. I usually get the serious WDW planner who is a repeat WDW guest, recognizes a good deal when they see it and doesn't feel the need to bargain shop my listing.
