~How TWO trips became...who knows? ~ It's a TRIP! and an upgrade.... 4/22

Mary- I hope you start feeling better. Maybe being pumped full of meds, you'll be running by Monday. :)

I hope you feel better soon! I have recently been working out a lot more too and it seems everytime I push myself I irritate my lungs and get sick somehow! I keep asking the doctor how am I supposed to lose weight when I can't exercise for getting sick! Grr! But I hope you feel better soon! On the bright side it gives your more time on here

I do hope you feel better soon. Please do what the doctor order, stay home and get some rest. Yes, we all have commitments, but a lot of good you will be to everyone if you end up in the hospital. (I have had this lecture many times from my doctor.)

Please, please, please take care of yourself. Once you are better, you can get back to walking.

As for the marathon. I had stated on my form that I would finish in 3hr 30 minutes, and I was put in the last corral. I think anyone who doesn't have an official time to submit is put in the last corral. I finished in 3hrs and 24 minutes. I think they gave us extra time since the weather was so bad when we started out which is why you see so many people with finish times over 4hrs.

You will be fine. You get to see Disney from a different perspective and the anticipation of what is around the next corner keeps you going.

:scared1::scared1: meds are good. get some rest.......

you'll be back walking in no time....:thumbsup2

Thanks. :)

That's awful!!! Pneumonia!!! You poor thing!!

I"m calling you right now!

Yeah...sorry for coughing in your ear. :guilty:

What?!?! You have pneumonia ?!?!?

:scared1:

Get well ASAP! I know how those doctors are. I got into a fight with mine in December. I was pretty sick - ran a fever for the first time in 5 years - and she wanted me to stay home and rest. Each time I mentioned the word "run" she'd yell at me. Seriously. Yell. :confused3 She didn't care that I had a 17 mile training run scheduled for that next week-end. I wasn't happy with her. I just wanted something to get me well within the next 12-24 hours. I'd happily take a shot in the butt if it meant that I'd be able to run the next day. She was very unaccommodating. She offered to write me a doctor's note to excuse me from work the next day instead. :sad2:

Doctor's just don't get half and full marathon training schedules.
Silly doctors.

Yes! URGH!

I know it! They just don't get it! I have 5 weeks left....FIVE! :scared1: And I was already on the edge of being ready.

I can still get ready...but boy...I have some work to do once I feel better. But my work right now is to rest.

It would take some serious meds! :rolleyes1

I know...what is with that?!?! I used to get kidney stones a lot (I had about 6 when I was in college)...and it was the same way...as soon as I started hydrating and moving around, they would "pass" and mess up my training!

But I will be back!!!!

Yeah...I figured the weather had something to do with the 4 hour times. :(

Oh well...I think I can finish the actual race in 3:40...counting restroom breaks.

But I will be up a creek if I can train.

Normally my battle is getting the motivation to train...but I am motivated! Now I want to get going!!!

Oh guys! I am SOOOOO frustrated.

I really, really, really want to be BETTER so that I can get out there and train! It has been over a week since I have walked - and now I am "grounded"...

The doctor I work for put her foot down and made me get a chest xray because I still sound pretty bad...and I have pneumonia. I thought I felt better! :sad1:

So...absolutely no walking. She is making me go home...no walking...no nothing till Monday.

She gave me some different meds and was very sweet. I love my job. It is so nice to work for people that get it.

Penumonia!?!?!:scared1: I hope today finds you on the mend. I'm not a big fan of antibiotics in general but SOOOOOOOO happy your doc was able to talk you into getting a script earlier. And also thrilled to hear your employer put her foot down and demanded a chest x-ray. It probably prevented the pneumonia from becoming much more serious. Scary stuff there.

Don't worry too much about the marathon training now. You have time to start training again and now you just need to focus on getting better. Take care of yourself!

Gets some rest and take it easy. Pneumonia is nothing to mess around with!

A few days of rest will help you out in the long run. Hope your feeling better soon.

Maroo <putting on my best "MOM" voice>

You listen to your doctors!! Do you want to go? Or do you want to end up in the hospital? Pnemonia is nothing to mess around with young lady!!

(see, Mom!!)

:cutie: Know that I had an injury, and stopped training - somehow life throws challenges in our paths... sit back... relax... Be STILL...

and get well soon!!

:grouphug:

::yes::::yes::::yes::

Listen to SandyMom. Rest up completely and you will get better and be back out there before you know it. You will be fine. You will finish. and you will finish in time.
:goodvibes

You are so funny.I am confused about December, too. So far I am leaving my trip that second weekend....? But I suppose I will end up moving it to the first weekend if my meets move to the first weekend? It is a lot more fun, when you are traveling solo, to have a group to pal around with.

Having said that...If I have DIS friends that are going that I can pal around with - without inturrupting anyone's vacation - then I would consider those dates, too.

Glad I made you smile! I still need to think about December but I have to figure out another vacation first. Jason won't go to WDW unless we go somewhere else first. I don't know what is wrong with him! :rotfl:

If you figure out how to hydrate properly you may not need a restroom break at all. I never had to use the restroom during training runs and my training runs toward the end were going on 4 hours. I knew just how much water to take in and never overdid it. I did have to stop on race day, however. I'd made certain that my body was hydrated going into race day but I had almost one full bottle of water that morning while in the race retreat tent before heading out to the corral. My body didn't need that water and with it so darn cold, I wasn't sweating it out. I wound up having to make a couple of port a potty stops during the first half of the race.

maroo: How are you doing? Are you well now?

i am well. got in 8 miles last saturday.

and fell due to snow and stupidity and possibly broke my arm today.

that should not affect my training, but does affect my typing.

just need to do 9 and then 10 over the next two weeks.

Girl! Wow. Take care of yourself.

1) Congrats on getting in that 8 miles! :woohoo:

2)My fingers are crossed that you didn't break anything. Please give us an update.

My arm is NOT broken!! Yay!!! :woohoo:

And I can continue to train. I got off my schedule last week because I spent the whole week with Rachel and her family. That is NOT going to happen this week. The only plans I have - besides training - is to help Lauren on Tues night.

Here is where I am...

I have done 8 miles. But it took a long time. Mainly because I kept stopping because my feet were hurting. Plus one restroom break.

I have changed my socks and they seemed to do better yesterday. But I will re-evaluate after tonight - I hope to do at least 3 miles...it will be cold, so that may be it. But hopefully I can feel my shoes messing up, if they are going to. May need to add some inserts or something?

I have used my Garmin watch twice...the first time was just a stroll around my condo complex and my pace was 22 min. I also used again yesterday and I started slow but did a total of 1.5 miles...but my pace was over 18 minutes. This has me freaked out! I am going too slow.

So....

Here is the plan:

Today: OUTSIDE - it is going to be cold, but wear my "cold" stuff and walk a 1 mile track near my house - at least 3 miles. The wind chill is going to be 30 - so that will give me a good idea if my "cold" stuff is warm enough (or too warm). This will also give me a better idea of what my pace is broken into miles. I am PRAYING it will not be cold on race day...but if January taught me anything................

Tuesday: help Lauren - rest day

Wednesday: OUTSIDE - another chilly day - wc is low 40's - at least 3 miles on the track by my house.

Thursday: OUTSIDE - another chilly day - wc is mid 40's - at least 3 miles on the track by my house. That will give me 3 different days to compare directly track to track.

Friday: OUTSIDE - 9 miles - I need to get this in BEFORE the storms come in on Friday. I will have to re-check this forecast. If I can't get the miles in, I will have to do it Saturday. Both Fri and Sat will be warmer - 50's.

Sunday: help Rachel - rest day

and there should be a similar repeat the next week. My hope is that I can get my pace back up to where it was before I got sick.

And I am working on PLANNING for this trip, too. I need to meet with Lisa to get some info from her about what she wants to do, etc. :)

Glad your arm is not broken! Don't be too tough on yourself - you are doing great! And whatever time you do and however long you can do will be great because it will be the best you can do at that given point in time.
