~How TWO trips became...who knows? ~ It's a TRIP! and an upgrade.... 4/22

I'm so shocked that Jackson's situation has not made national news (at least that I have seen). What a disaster down there! I read a couple of articles online and see that you are expecting MORE freezing temps tonight? Geez! Where is that global warming when you need it?

I am heartbroken that your clinic had to be canceled . . . . I hope it is up and running again soon so those patients can recieve treatment.

I honestly was, too.

I think about the time it may have made national news (when clinics were all closed, schools closed, etc...Haiti had that horrible, horrible earthquake)...which is just a gentle reminder that being without water is not the end of world, I don't guess. But it sure was a pain.

We were able to get all of our patients treated either at our office on Monday (before our water went out) or at the hospital next door...so we were good for our patients.

But Rachel went completely without her treatment all week because that particular clinic was closed.

The Governor has now added more counties to the State Declaration for Disaster - so hopefully we can get some Federal Aid to get the water back on.

We should know tomorrow if we are ok to drink it. It really has been a mess.

I got half a day off Wednesday and otherwise have worked this week. Many restaurants are back open...but only serving bottled drinks.

Thanks! Jason seems on board with the Universal and Disney trip in December so as long as the finances hold out I think we are good to go!:banana: It would be awesome if we were there at the same time. We like Harry Potter but are not big fans - Jordan has decided that she does not want to watch the movies because they are too scary. This is the same child that rode TOT at age 4, loves EE and watched the Chronicles of Narnia but thinks Harry Potter is too scary. :confused3

I read somewhere that the second week of December is awesome with low crowds - was that on here? I can't remember but need to confirm that.

Looking forward to more details on your freezing trip and the one coming up!

This year it seems like toward the end of that second week was good. Usually they do the Christmas Parade taping that first weekend and POP Warner is that first weekend...so once those crowds all leave, the park is pretty dead until the big crowds come in at the end of the 3rd week.

So, how are things today? You told me yesterday water is "mostly" back on. Are you in a "flushing way" today?? :lmao:

We are good today.

My only issue now is that my condo has a very strange smell. I went to get my neighbor to check it out and he is gone, too. It smells like some sort of chemical or something? Very strange smell. I can't sleep in my condo until I know what that smell is.

And we are still having to boil all of our water before we drink it. So I am still at Lauren's house.

I think I'd want to know what I was sniffing too!

Thank you guys for the well wishing about the water! :)

My condo still smells...maybe they put a chemical in the water? No idea...but another night at Lauren's house. :)

Just wanted to give a quick update on the next trip!!!

DATES: March 5 - 8th!
Purpose: Princess Half Marathon!

The dates have moved UP a day...we are leaving a day later and staying a day later.

We decided to do this so that we could celebrate after our race. I had such a good time hanging out with some of my new friends at Marathon weekend and it was fun to be walking around with their medals. I want to do that! :)

I figure I will be tired. And sore. But it will be good to hang out in the parks and I have even set up a very special DIS meet. :)

So...that is it with the trip news! :)

OH...And I did SEVEN miles yesterday!! I am very excited about that!! :) That puts me over the halfway mark toward the 13.1 miles I will do on race day! For some reason this was a big deal to me...I always knew I could do 6 miles...but 7...seemed like a stretch!

I'm really hoping it's just a chemical in the water to clean/sterilize it somehow. Does it seem to be coming from the water supply?

Good idea! Definitely need some time to show off your hardware in the parks!

7 Banana Dance - 1 for each mile! Congratulations! That is an awesome accomplishment and you deserve to be proud of yourself!

Maroo..7 miles is so awesome!!!  Woohoo for the trip update! You're going to have such a great time, and I'm sure whoever you're meeting is going to absolutely love it! ;) I hope the water is back up to par in the condo and you've figured out the smell..or better yet, it's gone!

:cool1::cool1: :woohoo:

Its so a mind game! I could do 5. Be consistent with doing 2 - 4 miles at least 4 days a week... then I knew I had to do ten... so ten was my mind block - outside!!

and basically that was my long run... so in my mind when I was heading to MK and passed Mile 4 (I knew mile 5 was MK) I was feeling pretty good - but could I get to 10??? On my pre trip report Lisa, Dolce, they were racking up the miles, and I was more of a slacker...

so training is the key - I hope you can fit one day a week outside closer to Princess time!!

I'm so glad you added the days! You do need one day to pick up the packets - and look at the gear - buy anything that catches your eye (ummm the "I DID IT " shirts - and if you dont finish - you can return it to any Disney store, from what I've read... I got so many comments on my "I Did it" Donald shirt that "oh my son wanted that he went everywhere looking for it after the race - they were gone!!)

and with your medal - go get pictures with the characters!! Go to Epcot lines are shorter with Princesses there - or get a Norway Princess Breakfast meal, and the Princesses will come to you!! Tim got a pic with Donald, Mickey, and Goofy with each of his medals!!

and What is wrong with the water!! Hoping and praying everything works out, and gets back to normal.... NOW!

Hey, maroo: I don't know why it's taken me so long to make my way over to your pre-TR. I just saw a post from Sandy mentioning it and was like :headache: It finally clicked that you had a pre-TR.

I saw a couple of posts from you on Sandy's TR about the situation in MS. I didn't realize it was that bad until I came over here just now and saw these lasts few posts. I hadn't heard anything about it here in Texas. Prayers that everything returns to normal ASAP!

CONGRATS on the 7 miles! I think I already told you congrats on another thread, but I mean it! Each mile is a new accomplishment. I promise: when you reach 13 miles, you'll look back with a smile and think: 7 is nothing! It feels so good as you reach each new mile and look back at all that you've already accomplished.

I like your idea of hanging around after the race for an extra day!! Maybe you'll have to take it easier- maybe even a lot easier, but it'll be so fun to rest in your happy place after such hard work!!

Fun!

Congrats on the 7 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

OK what are your plans on race day afternoon & evening and on Monday? I'm sure you'll be shot on Sunday! LOL :lmao:

Hope your water is getting back to normal! :wizard:

Congrats on the seven miles! That's quite an accomplishment!

Thank you!!! :)

I love the 7 bananas! I can't wait to see 13 of those suckers on Half Marathon day!!

The smell is mostly gone...or at least it was on Saturday. I have not been back there since then. Now that I have been back at Lauren's, they have put me to good use and I have been working on her science fair project and helping her flip pages to write her English paper.

We do have water! It is brown. But we have it!

:woohoo:

Its so a mind game! I could do 5. Be consistent with doing 2 - 4 miles at least 4 days a week... then I knew I had to do ten... so ten was my mind block - outside!!

I am totally with that...it is all a mind game. 10 miles is the one I am most afraid of. Seven actually was not too terrible. :thumbsup2

So far I have myself scheduled for 3 miles each two days a week on the treadmill or outside AND the big walk outside.

I will keep my updates on here and occasionally come and update over on your 2011 pretrippie, too!

and basically that was my long run... so in my mind when I was heading to MK and passed Mile 4 (I knew mile 5 was MK) I was feeling pretty good - but could I get to 10??? On my pre trip report Lisa, Dolce, they were racking up the miles, and I was more of a slacker...

Oh my gosh! I totally do this! I was so excited the other day when I crossed mile 6 because I thought...I made it through the castle and MK!!!

so training is the key - I hope you can fit one day a week outside closer to Princess time!!

Yep! After seeing what you guys had to brave for the half - I first went out and got some more warm walking clothes...and then have plans to walk outside at least once a week - and preferably for the long walk.

I'm so glad you added the days! You do need one day to pick up the packets - and look at the gear - buy anything that catches your eye (ummm the "I DID IT " shirts - and if you dont finish - you can return it to any Disney store, from what I've read... Oh...I am SOOOOOO getting an "I DID IT" shirt...and a 13.1 sticker!

I think I may get two and get characters to sign one with a permanent marker. :thumbsup2

and with your medal - go get pictures with the characters!! Go to Epcot lines are shorter with Princesses there - or get a Norway Princess Breakfast meal, and the Princesses will come to you!! Tim got a pic with Donald, Mickey, and Goofy with each of his medals!!

This is a must do for me! You think I should schedule a character meal? And I have to get a pic in front of the castle!

and What is wrong with the water!! Hoping and praying everything works out, and gets back to normal.... NOW!

The water...what a mess! Over 100 pipes burst because we had 56 or more straight hours of below freezing temps. Including down to the single digits. So when the pipes thawed out, they burst and the city took so long to fix them all that we all lost water pressure.

They closed all of the schools, most of the restaurants and even some medical clinics (including mine).

But things are back to normal this week.

:welcome: to my pre-trippie!! I was pretty much over there on Sandy's (and still will be!)

I honestly think the water situation down here would have made national news by Tuesday/Wednesday...but that devastating earthquake was so much worse than what we have been dealing with. Bless those poor people. THAT is a horrible tragedy.

So...my plan was to just do up to 10 miles before the big day...I have heard folks say as long as you can do 10 - you can do 13...should I plan a 13 day?

I only have 6 weeks left!

I like your idea of hanging around after the race for an extra day!! Maybe you'll have to take it easier- maybe even a lot easier, but it'll be so fun to rest in your happy place after such hard work!!

Fun!

Me too! And it was so cool that it worked out...because Lisa has to get a LOT of childcare to make it happen...and that all fell into place.

Love the new March plans and way to go on the 7 miles!

Thanks!! :)

Congrats on the 7 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

OK what are your plans on race day afternoon & evening and on Monday? I'm sure you'll be shot on Sunday! LOL :lmao:

Hope your water is getting back to normal!

Let's see....

Sunday afternoon I am going to DHS (and hopefully meeting a wish child that you may know...:rolleyes1)...no plans for the rest of Sunday night yet. I may need to find some characters!

We will have to catch the ME at 9 AM on Monday...:( So we won't really be able to do much that morning. Maybe breakfast??

I would love to meet ya!

I did two miles today...I probably should have done 3 miles...but I got started too fast this time and was hurting even after 2 miles. So...I decided not to push it today and try to work on getting 3 miles on Wednesday. :goodvibes

Is this a former, current, or future wish child? :lmao:

Wow ME at 9 am. That's a little early.

If you are going to be in DHS on Sunday we should try to met up. I'm assuming we will be at DHS till at least 4 or 5pm.:confused3 I'm pretty sure we will be heading back to the house to make dinner.

At least you did something. It could of been easy to just say 'forget it!' :worship:

For my full-marathon, I was, per my training schedule, to taper out at 20 miles for a 26.2 mile run. 20 was the longest that I did prior to the marathon and I had no problems on race day.

So far there is only ONE wish child....unless you guys join the mix. :rolleyes1

It is Piper...but don't tell her. It is a secret. :)

Dude!! We are totally going to meet at DHS! Definitely! :) Sounds like a blast!

Oh, this makes me feel much better!! :) So...was it just the adrenaline of the race? I am getting excited about the race!

You get to MEET someone special!!! I"m so stoked for you!! and for her!

7 miles?? You're going to look and FEEL like a million bucks (not that you don't already!) But, seriously, I may not be able to keep up with YOU!! Come April when the weather is reasonable I will have to get off my winter duff and do some training!!
