at 7 months? I'm considering renting points; however, I really want BLT. A person is willing to rent me points, but is from another DVC resort. Do I have a good chance of getting something at 7 months? I am going the first weekend of December 2010.

I think that you'll be fine; however, you might have to use extra points for a lake view, instead of getting in cheap with a standard view. Do keep in mind, however, that early December is a popular time for DVC stays, so you might want to make sure that you can get your reservation booked before paying the money for the rental (if the renter will allow it). Good luck! :goodvibes

If you really want BLT, you need to rent from a BLT owner at 11 months out. The first week of Dec is the most popular week for members because the points are low and the holiday decorations are up.

I called today for 3 nights May 16, 17 and 18 at BLT and was able to get bay lake view. :thumbsup2 We decided to shorten our VB stay to check BLT out, hope I'm not disappointed.

If you can't find a BLT owner to rent from, rent at whatever Resort the DVC member owns at 11 months and waitlist for BLT.

We booked 7 months out at BLT for spring break (easter week), which according to the points chart is in the "holiday" section, which is considered the busiest time of year. So you never know; just call on the exact date of 7 months out to be sure.

Have you checked out the DVC Rent/Trade Thread? You could post your request for renting from a BLT owner there. With the economy, a lot of people are renting out their points.

However, the member you rent from may not wish to bother with the waitlist as it may require (probably will) more points than the original reservation. They may require more money from you for a reservation that requires more points. Sometimes a waitlist may not happen until right before your reservation is scheduled to start and that could be a problem for the member. Don't count on being able to waitlist if it is not available at 7 months.

I rented to someone on the rent/trade board a BLT studio for October at the 11 mos. mark. So it is possible. Put your request out there BEFORE the 11 mos. mark so owners will know of your intentions. :goodvibes

I was able to secure BLT standard studio view for my DS/DIL (they're still there;)) for 5 nights, beginning 12/13 via waitlist. It came thru end of June for them.:thumbsup2

btw, they are thrilled to have received what they term a MK (moreso tennis court/space mt) & BL view from their 4th floor balcony. They considered themselves blessed to be have view of MK fireworks. Not sure if it is a standard room or they got lucky/upgraded somehow?

officially, i am the best mom:laughing:, hope they don't get used to such great digs.

to OP, go for it:wizard:; of course, you'll be in direct competition with me next year for same dates:rolleyes1i'd try to rent BLT points if i were you!

wdrl has pointed this out.

A factor in your favor is that the resort is not sold out. I forget the exact percentage, but every time they reach approximately 80% sold of the declared inventory, they have been declaring more rooms available for DVC owners.

If they keep this us, there will be approximately 20-25% of rooms available to non-BLT owners at any given time. Also, it's likely there will be at least a couple more declarations before next December.

Declarations just mean that Disney has added made more rooms to DVC members (instead of Disney using them for cash).
