How to request WLV "corner" room?

This might be a really straight forward question/answer, but to request one of the "odd shaped" corner rooms at WLV should I request "corner room" or is there another way to word the request?

We stayed in one three years ago and really enjoyed the layout, we lost the master closet but never really missed it.

If you get it, please let me know. Despite requesting it many times (I listed the specific room numbers on my request - 2 bedrms are 2519, 3519, & 4519), I've never gotten it as the result of a request. We have been lucky enough to have been placed there twice without a request. Good luck, I hope you get one!

We got the corner shaped 1 bedroom once. I only requested "lake view" and "upper floor". We loved the villa - our favorite one at VWL.

We had one once just by accident and we loved it!

I had requested a view of the pool.

If this is for the November trip described in your signature, you may want to rethink this. By all accounts, there will be a lot of construction going on during that time (and the two years to follow) in the pool and beach area in front of the villas. If I was going to be there at that time I'd request the "bus stop side" of the villas.

Granny makes an excellent point. I was speaking with Guest Satisfaction about our late Oct VWL stay and was told by the CM that they will not be placing people in any of the rooms that are in the section closest to the pool - which would include those corner rooms. It might be a wasted request at this time.

So what rooms does that refer too? Is it all of the rooms facing the lake, or just on the 1st and 2nd floor in half of the building? Do you see what I mean? What are they really talking about? Are we thinking the will be reasonable and DVC thinks only while the jackhammers are working will we move folks or what?

DVCMC is really doing a poor job IMO regarding this situation. I realize that DVD or Disney or whoever is in charge of the construction at Wilderness Lodge may not have told DVCMC about it in time to give the guests at VWL time to book elsewhere, 11 months ago. But now DVCMC knows more about it and they should be restricting the number of rooms released for reservations at VWL in the future. And they should tell VWL owners what will be available from now until the expected completion of the pool construction. I don't know enough about the cabins as to how that construction would affect VWL rooms. I do know five wetland areas are preserved between VWL and the cabins, but not sure if and how that would reduce construction noise for those rooms. So it could be a long time that those rooms will not be available.

That is a lot of points other DVC resorts will need to absorb for the next few years. Is DVC really aware of this problem?

A check of the Resort Availability Tool last week showed me that there are no VWL reservations available for the entire month of January. My guess is that they will be restricting future reservations as they get a handle on what the construction schedule looks like.

For existing reservations, my guess (again) is that the restricted villas that Kathy referred to will be all those around the quiet pool. The other ones further down that wing may not have nearly the construction noise.

We pay DVD to own and manage 2%+ of all of the resorts to use in situations like this (and emergency repairs)

It doesn't have to be 2% of a day's availability, it could be the entire resort for 1 week, or 10% of the resort for 10.4 full weeks...

They have plenty of points to manage this if they don't send their points to CRO

Sorry if it wasn't clear but what I was told is that they intend to not use that entire section of rooms that is next to the quiet pool. Floor does not matter - sound actually rises so higher might even be noisier than lower.

I've puzzled over this too but hope that DVC is using their own pool of points in anyway they can to cover this as it is certainly being done to earn them more money with a resort add on and not on behalf of giving owners a better experience (no matter what marketing spiel they use). I'd think that nothing should be going over to CRO for quite awhile and as Granny mentioned, by all appearances, they have pulled inventory for point booking. But that's a double edged sword since that affects the points availability although at least it was done within the 7 month window. The question is for how long do they intend to do it and will it be limiting availability during the home resort periods. This isn't an act of God taking inventory out, it's an act of Disney - and they do need to make certain that current owners continue to have access to use what they bought.
