How to get to Wilderness Lodge during Marathon?

We will be heading to Wilderness lodge tomorrow morning (Saturday) to check-in and it appears the half marathon going on will go over the road needed to head to Wilderness Lodge. Is this correct?

If so, how will we be able to get to the resort in the early morning? Will they still have access through less lanes and/or a different route? Any tips?

I ‘think’ you can come in via Vista Drive, take a right on World Drive (that section is open), then take a right on Timberline Drive (which is WL).

Also, not sure what time you’re planning to go to WL, but unless it’s super early in the AM, it’s possible everything will be cleared/back to normal by the time you’re heading to WL.

Thank you for the info! Depending on progress, we will likely arrive around 7:00am or so. Do you think things will still be shut down by then?

Also, what are your thoughts on the amount of traffic to expect if we take Vista down to World dr., then head down timberline to the resort at about 7am? I'm not sure if I should expect it to be pretty clear or stand-still traffic.

The map says that big World Drive northbound closure will end at 7:30am, but obviously that can vary so I’d take that as a general number. Likely when they’d like to have it clear/open.

I hesitate to speculate on traffic. I tried to get from BWI to MK during the Princess Half two years ago and the trip took an extra 30 minutes longer than it should - most of that being the last 2 miles. I suspect you won’t hit material delays if you follow the detour around heading where you’re going, but keep an open mind in case you do. That’s still relatively early in the AM and there aren’t ‘tons’ of people on the road, roughly speaking... but the half and full marathon have a way of creating delays in certain spots (and totally clear in others).
