I know it's gross, but I have this stupid wart on my hand and I can't get rid of it. I bought the freeze-off stuff and used it twice. The darn thing came back both times. Last time I was determined to kill it forever. I froze the heck out of it.

Well, the strangest thing happened. The wart came back around frozen area. Now it's like a halo around where the old wart used to be. Is there any way to get rid of this thing?

Yes.

Go to a DR. ;)

I heard duct tape works - but Ive never tried it. My son had a plantars wart YEARS ago - we tried OTC until we ran out of options. One trip to the doc and it was gone.

You can always see a dr to have it removed.

Home Remedies:

I have read that putting Apple Cider Vinager on a cotton ball and cover the wart with it (using a band aid to hold it in place) will help. You have to replace the cotton ball every day but it will help it go away.

Also covering it with Duct Tape may remove it.

My son just had 2 warts removed at the podiatrist yesterday. The doctor told me warts are caused by a fungus, so even if you remove them with Compound W etc they will come back until you remove the fungus.

I had three warts treated by a dermatologist for years and they always came back. DH thinks I am crazy but I had them 'talked off' about 20 years ago and they haven't come back. I don't have any scars either. I had one that I didn't show the man (it was on my stomach) and it went away too. :flower3:

Talked off? What does that mean?

Its a Southern term I guess and it kind of like black magic for lack of a better term. The 'gift' is generally passed from generation to generation and from opposite sex if I am not mistaken. A friend of my mom's father did this. Here is what happened (like I said DH thinks I am absolutely off my rocker!)

I was in high school and had big warts on my knuckle, knee, and chin for years and a recent one on my stomach. Dr's would freeze them and they would come back. I finally went to this man and he spit on a penny, mumble something, and rubbed the penny on my warts- I was too embarrassed to show him the one on my stomach. He prayed over me and told me not to think about the warts or look at them for a week. He told me if I truly believed that Jesus Christ was my Lord and Savior that they would go way. I can't explain it but they wern't there the next time I thought about them even the one I didn't show him. And like I said, I have no scars.

I know there are people that think I am making this up but it happened it me. I wouldn't have believed it otherwise.

My husband swears that black tape (electrical tape) cures all wounds! :lmao:

I forgot who told me this, but somebody said that covering it in black tape actually works. Not sure if it's an wives tale or not, but it's worth a shot. Good luck!

disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. Please see your pcp if the problem persists.

 No offense, but that is one of the strangest things I have everheard! :lmao: I mean- I don't doubt you, but it is kind of weird. And funny. :goodvibes

I agree it is strange. DH thinks I am ready for the loony bin.

Duct tape does work. I had a Dr. recommend it once and I laughed right in his face. He didn't laugh back. He was serious. Within just a few days the wart was gone. My theory is that because a wart is a living, growing fungus, the duct tape deprives it of oxygen or whatever and suffocates it. But that's just my theory. It does work, though, try it.

When I was 10, I had 3 warts on the palm side of my hand. I took my dad's razor, removed the blade and sliced them off. There were black thread things in the wart that I removed with tweezers. I've never had another wart and I'm 50.

My dad taught me this trick, and I have used it on my kid's regular and plantar warts. ( No, no epidemic, just 4 warts.)

Plain aspirin, like Bayer. If it is coated, rinse the coating off.
Wet the aspirin, put it on wart, add a few more drops of water to make sure it is damp. (the aspirin may start to crumble, that's ok)
Cover with a band-aid. Change daily, or more if needed.

This takes an average of 4 days.
My DD9 had a plantar wart on her toe, huge ugly thing. On day 3 her toe looked like it had been in water for days (really pruny). So I pressed on the area around the wart, and..this is so gross.. the whole thing roots and all just popped out, kind of like a giant black head. There was a hole (kind of) where the wart was, but no blood, and it healed right up and never hurt her.

Good luck!

We used the duct tape on my son's wart on his finger. It works.

I've never heard the duct tape thing. I'm going to try all of this stuff. It's embarrassing because it's on my hand for all to see.

How long does the duct tape take?

Another vote for the Duct tape. DD had a wart on her toe and the Dr. had tried to freeze it off twice. After the second time didn't work, she recommended trying Duct tape. We used it for two weeks and the wart disappeared. Give it a shot. It can't hurt.

My DD has three little ones on her hand. She named the darn things.:rolleyes1

I might have to try the duct tape method. :thumbsup2

Vinegar! Put it on a piece of cotton (we just use one end of a Qtip) and soak it in vinegar. Put that and a bandaid on the area and leave it on while you sleep each night. We've gotten rid of 2 warts on little DS this way and it works great. The first wart died (turned black) and went away in about a week. The other one took about 2 weeks to go away, but neither one of them has come back. I read about this somewhere on the internet when DH was having issues getting rid of a wart on his finger. He tried everything and it just would not go away. He did the vinegar as a last resort and it went away in about a week or so and has been gone for over 1 1/2 years.

I didn't use the aspirin trick, but after "shaving" my plantar warts with my brother's Swiss Army Knife for about a month or so, I could see I was getting near the heart of the wart. I decided to squeeze it and the exact same thing happened. It just popped... it was startling to say the least and left me a bit queasy, but the plantar wart never came back. A little bit of peroxide and some neosporin and I was good as new.

My DD had one on her hand when she was little. The Pediatrician said that duct tape would work but it's generally only a temporary solution. He said that since the wart was not painful, we should let it run its course. Eventually it would fall off on it's own. Once that happens, it's unlikely that she would ever get a wart again. Well, it took almost 2 years before the wart fell off and that was about 16 years ago and she has never had another one since.
