How scary was expedition everestin animal kingdom? do you re ommened this ride?

Not very. As thrill rides go, it's pretty mild.

However, if you're scared of rollercoasters, you shouldn't ride it.

It's a notch scarier than Big Thunder in my opinion. Or imagine closing your eyes for about 30 seconds on Big Thunder that's about what it's like.

Yes I recommend it, it's my favorite ride in all the parks.

The anticipation is scarier than the ride, to me.

You don't have as much of the "OMG, I am so high up" feeling as the coaster is mostly surrounded by "mountain". The backwards portion through the mountain is pretty intense, but not what I'd call scary.

My DD is a huge ride chicken, and always fights riding this one - and always enjoys it afterward.

I highly recommend this ride.

My daughter was more afraid of the anticipation of the Yeti's appearance, but she closed her eyes - problem solved. My neck was sore after leaving the ride, but my husband mentioned that I wasn't resting against the back of the seat, instead I was sitting straight up. Had I leaned back it probably would have helped. I'll try it during our next visit. Enjoy!

Husband is right on that one... I used to try to sit up on roller coasters and often had neck pain later... when I learned to just press my head against the backrests I never had a problem.

I won't ride Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, OR Space Mountain, but I enjoy Expedition Everest...it takes talking myself into it each time, but it is not that scary...just fun.

I didn't find it scary, per se, but did make me feel very sick! I think it was the going backwards, in the dark, fast, nearly upside down, in 100 degree weather that did me in!

LOVE this ride.:woohoo: My DH who really doesn't like coasters loves this ride too. If you don't like being in pitch black darkness for any period of time you may not like it, but otherwise it's an amazing ride! We ride it several times every time we go.

when DD rode it at age 9 she came off sobbing in tears.

she literally she thought she was going to die, i felt kinda bad for her :(

Its pretty tame as far as coaster type rides go. I wouldn't call it particularly scary. I agree with the assessment that it is just a notch above Big Thunder.

I personally think it is just an ok attraction. It was much better when the Yeti actually worked.

My DS6 rode it twice and declared that it was his favorite ride of the whole trip! However, if you do't like roller coasters, don't ride it. You might try starting with BTMRR and if you are fine with that, then try EE. :goodvibes

Not sure if the advice so far has pinned it down for me. I remember (from 30 years ago) liking Big Thunder Mountain and being really sick on Space Mountain.

So, I certainly don't want to do anything that approaches the intensity -- from a roller coaster perspective -- of Space Mountain, or that exceeds it.

On the other hand, I'm not worried about things that are merely scary because they jump out at you -- Yetis, dinosaurs, etc.

It is more the jerkiness of the ride, perhaps the height, certainly the sensation of falling -- I don't like that.

So I will be skipping Space Mountain, Rock'n'Roller coaster, Tower of Terror, Mission Space, and anything that gets me wet.

But I will be going on Big Thunder and, from what I've heard, Dinosaur.

So that just leaves a big question mark about Expedition Everest. I really don't want to get motion sickness. Maybe I should just skip it.

I enjoy this ride a lot. It is not very scary at all, but my DH has trouble with the backward and in the dark part since he gets motion sickness. He uses sea bands and takes dramamine and is okay. As roller coasters go, this is actually very tame with no huge drops.

Our 4 1/2 DD, who is a prissy little girl, rode it 7 times.... 5 of those times HAD to be in the front car. :lmao: WHO KNEW?

It's not scary, in my opinion. It's a really awesome ride though !!!!

As others have said, it's pretty tame in the grand scheme of scary roller coasters. I don't find it nearly as intense as Space Mountain. It's very smooth with no big drops. You do go backwards for a little bit but it's never made me sick.

I don't do big roller coasters and I actually dislike Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but I do find EE a lot of fun.

Are you willing to try it once?

My DD9 was afraid to ride it, but I made her do it once because I knew she would like it. She made me ride 7 times :rotfl2: It is now her favorite ride.

I rank it between BTM and Rocking Roller Coaster.

It is not jerky like SM, pretty smooth steel coaster
It does not have a big drop, and no sensation of falling to me. You work you way down the mountain
It does go backwards and loop in the dark, so that can disorient some people.

I usually have to quit after 3 times in a row because I get a little dizzy :goodvibes

It wasn't scary - to me anyway. My boyfriend, on the other hand, only rode it because I wanted to and HATES rollercoasters :scared1: he didn't like it, but I loved it! Definitely recommended.

So interesting reading this thread..I AM NOT a roller coaster rider, so I avoid BTM, SM and RRC...but I do ride Splash Mtn. I will do TOT one time a day, but only once. And I do ride Dinosaur. But after reading this thread, I may try EE, just to see how it is. My wife rides it every year and loves it...she thinks I could do it. Of course, she said the same thing about the Harry Potter ride this past March, and I about tossed my cookies after that ride...walk through only for me from now on !!!:):)

I'm not a big rollercoaster person, but EE is my fave ride in all the parks.

It's quite smooth and the drop looks worse than it is. I honestly can't wait to ride it again :goodvibes
