How much Water does one MAN Need???

I dunno. Consuming mass quantities of water without guilt when there's a water shortage versus consuming mass quantities of oil without guilt when there's an oil shortage (coming).

Except we do not consume MASS quantities of oil...that's the difference. If you think a Prius is the answer, have you considered the problem of the battery disposal? We have one 2003 six passenger vehicle and six people in our family and a 5 passenger vehicle with 6 cylinders. So what?

You detest SUVs and have made that clear. Well, what are people with 5 or more family members supposed to do?:confused3 Not that we have to answer to you, but I find your stance beyond ridiculous and rude (We should be fined...   )

I do think SUVs tend to be ridiculous gas guzzlers. However, if you actually read what I said, it was that people with 2 kids say that they *need* SUVs when really it's wasteful *want*. I do realize that people with large families need larger vehicles.

But... some large vehicles are more environmentally friendly than others. :confused3

And I never said that SUV owners should be fined. ...

The point is, we buy the size and the style of vehicle that we, as a family need.

That is fine, really. Though I think you and I might disagree on what is considered "need" based on some of your posts on this thread.

No worries, though.

Americans buying American vehicles keep Americans employed. That is pretty basic.

What about all those people working at the Honda plant in Alabama or the Toyota plant in Kentucky?

With more and more manufacturing jobs being outsourced overseas, that statement gets more and more untrue with each passing year. And just because it's a so called "American" vehicle doesn't neccessarily mean it's manufactured here or it contains parts manufactured here.

Maybe we should all get Fred Flintstone cars.....Wilma!!! :rotfl2:
Edited to add, I FIXED MY PICKLE!!!

That was sort of said tongue in cheek, actually. ;)

The thing about me is I'm very, seriously concerned about the oil problem. I think we as Americans are being stupidly shortsighted on this issue, and it's going to come back and bite us in the you know what one day.

But obviously not everyone is as terrified as I am. And that's your choice. I believe that driving unnecessarily large vehicles is environmentally irresponsible and wasteful. But maybe the future will prove me wrong. I hope so.
