Hi! I am new to this forum. I have a Disney trip in 2 weeks and myself and two kids are staying for one week at Pop Century. I am having issues making dining reservations. It want's to put a hold on the credit card but it doesn't say for how much?? Also the card is now declining but there is money on it and I used it just fine to purchase the Disney tickets and the hotel. Why is this so complicated!! Grrr. lol :badpc:

If you are making regular ADRs, nothing is charged up front. The cc is held in case you don't show, or if you don't cancel within the cancellation window, in which case the charge is $10 per person.

If you are making ADRs for dinner shows or CRT, you have to pay in full.

If I'm not mistaken the hold is $5 per reservation and then you get charges much more if you don't show/cancel...

I've never had any hold charges for ADR (would have been hard to miss with all the ones we have this time) and they didn't do any last time we went either. Now, I use a real CC versus a debit card so not sure how that would affect it.

They don't charge for ADRs, only if you fail to show up for your reservation or cancel to close...except when they are prepaid type venues ( dessert party, crt etc)

I've never had holds put on my debit card for ADRs. Made a few this week, so I double-checked my bank account online--no holds.

I did have to agree to a $10 per person no-show penalty when making the reservations.

Some shows and venues like CRT require full prepayment, not just a credit card guarantee.

Never had a charge hold either. Same as everyone else, just warned about the $10 pp for no show.

Sometimes the credit card has a limit you can charge each day. Also ours has a security measure, if you start charging where you normally do not charge like another state or high amounts. It will stop letting the charges go through until I verify we are charging and it is not theft.

You will not be charged the $10 per person penalty unless you don't show up or you fail to cancel within the required time. Prepaid events are different, of course.

Sometimes they will put a $1 charge on the card just to confirm that the card is valid. This charge drops off after awhile.

If you know you have not exceeded your credit limit, then you need to check with the credit card company regarding the declination. It is possible they are considering these charges to be suspicious transactions.

Both my cc and debit cards do this as well. I've had my debit card declined when I bought passes before because it was over $2500 in one transaction. Last year the bank entered the wrong dates when we set up the travel alert so when I went to buy sunscreen in AK it was declined until I called and verified it was me.
