Its $3.40 a gallon in PA. At 200 gallons... we will be spending $680 today!

$3.50 a gallon here in Southern Maine. I feel your pain!

I had a contract that was "capped" at 2.89 til this spring - we got 240 gallons last week. (central/south NJ)

Just think how many times I could have gone to Broadway!

About 4 weeks ago I paid $4.05 for Propane, this is Southern Vermont. It came out to $660 :headache: We should only need one more delivery in the next few weeks and that will be all for this winter (until about Oct/Nov). Thank Goodness.

Our tank was filled at the end of January, and it was $700. I'm not sure what the per gallon price is right now, but the company we usually buy from is generally cheapest. I was really hoping not to have to fill again before summer, but with the weather being pretty cold, it's highly unlikely:sad2:

How long does a tank normally last everyone? We use natural gas to heat & will spend about $500 from Nov-March

After reading what some of you are paying I feel very fortunate.

We use propane, had it filled in November and paid $1.45/gallon. This is not the normal price, we got it at corn dryer price as we were using a ton of LP to dry our corn, so they allow us to fill our house tank for the same price during the fall corn drying season. At that time we paid $369.00.

January 18th they came to refill it, and we paid $1.85/gallon for a total of $726.00.

DH just checked it this morning and it's still at 40% (they only fill to 80%) so we're hoping that will last the rest of the winter. We had bitterly cold temperatures in January, so I know the furnace ran a lot then. Now that it's not so cold, and should be warming up since spring is right around the corner, hopefully we won't use as much.

We usually get filled three times a year, but we don't use our boiler from the time we turn off our heat until the time we need to turn it on again. Hoping May-October this year! (of course, then our electric bill goes up because we are heating our water with the electric hot water heater. we never can catch a break!)

We use around 550 gallons per year; this is a second home so most of the winter the thermostat is set to 50 degrees. I shudder to think what we will spend when Dh retires next year.

I'm contracted through 4/30 at $2.59/gallon but when I called last week to find out my contract end date and they didn't want to come back to fill me up until mid-April I got curious and asked what the current price was ~ hold on....$4.49:scared1: I did mention this to a few people indicated they were paying just under $4/gallon so this company doesn't appear to be competitive with the companies I would normally use. This is my first time contracting a price and I am very thankful I did it. I generally use 150 gallons during the coldest months which means I'm paying around $390/ month instead of the $600 without a contract. I don't ever remember paying more than I am right now at $2.59 and it scares me that its only going up, up, up:scared1:

We were only filled a few weeks ago and it was $3.29. For a 275 gallon tank, the bill was a few dollars short of $800.

The windows in the house (and other issues) are in desparate need of replacing and due to the drafts, 275 gallons doesn't last more than about 1.5 months :headache:. I have to make sure the house temperature is set between 66 and 67 degrees. With the drafts that come in from other sources besides the windows, it makes it feel slightly colder. I did put up the plastic on the living room windows though and it's helped out a bit.

I can't wait until the day we move. At least then we won't have to worry about all of the problems that are with this house and fuel oil will last a lot longer than 1.5 months.

I've never heard of heating oil. Must be a regional thing- down south, most people have all electric heat/AC, natural gas heat, or, in the country, propane tanks.

We have natural gas heat/hot water. Bill typically runs $30/month during spring, summer, and early fall. During wintertime, it can go up to $120-$150/month, depending on how cold it is. We do keep the heat pretty low- 64 most of the winter.

May folks have "level billing" that makes the monthly bill the same all year. Great for budgeting- no surprise killer bills in the winter.

We have a very old furnace and use about 200 gallons a month. Our last fill up was 220 gallons last Friday and it was $850. I am praying that it will last about 6 weeks this time and then our next fill up should be it until October/November.

Our Propane was filled two weeks ago but that was only around $350 and that will last another 6-8 months since it's only used for cooking. Might even last longer, not sure because we stopped using our propane fireplace/stove back in December.

Makes me love our pellet stove even more.

yes us too:thumbsup2

oil is $3.69 a gal here.
our hot water heats from our furnace, so still a need for oil here, but really I am hoping to change that at some point.

I think I might invest in some more longjohns and electric heating blankets! lol
