How Much Does Your Work Commute Cost?

To OP's question. When I was working I was spending $40 every two weeks for my commuter car. I checked my gas log book, I was paying $4.29 a gallon last July when I retired. Gas today is $5.19. So if I was still working and commuting my gasoline bill would be $9 more every two weeks.

Modern small cars are extremely safe.

Driving responsibly also makes all the difference. However, midsize and larger will always trump sub compact by size and weight.

At $4.25 / gallon my commute costs $58 / week. DH and I started carpooling yesterday.

Zero. Been working remotely since long before the pandemic, and I don't miss commuting at all.
