We'll be going October 1-6, if that makes a difference. I'm getting the Dollar Tree ones. Is one for each day enough or do you suggest more?

Are you planning to throw them away after you use them?

I always just fold them back up for the next shower.

They are soooooo handy. Also you can use it when on the Kali river rapid ride at AK. I have gotten drenched on that so I always pull out a poncho. We each carry a backpack with one every time we go out. You never know when rain will start.

We go in August and we only bring 2 per person. We reuse them throughout the trip if we can (not ripped or damaged in any way) and toss the opened ones at the end of the trip.

Mine cost $1.99 from dicks so I got 8 which I am hoping is enough. If they are going to get everything wet in our bag then I will have to throw them out we are just carrying those cinch sac's and I want them to be disposable too! I've heard it can rain more then once a day so you are probably smart to get so many just incase! They can def be saved for further vacations. Family of 4, so if we throw the first set away the other set will be our last.

We bring 3 each for a 2 week trip and I don't think we've ever used them all.
We do not reuse them......it has to pour pretty hard to use them because they are hot!

I bring two ponchos per person, and a gallon size zip lock bag to put each one in after they are used (make sure to fold/roll it in such a way that the inside of the poncho stays dry in case you need to use it again that same day). I could probably fit in in a quart size bag, but it would be a tight. That way they won't get everything in my backpack all wet if I have to use it. Then we can re-use each one a few times before we toss it.

we almost always travel during wet seasons...and I generally take 2 ponchos per person for a 4-5 day trip. Most trips we all just use the first poncho we had out and never get to the 2nd poncho...only one year did we go through both ponchos (was a very very windy storm and our cheapie ponchos ended up ripping) But other than that one trip, we all got buy with one poncho per trip with an extra for just-in-case.

We have all become very efficient at shaking off the excess water, and then folding those things tight again & popping them back in the little zipper bag...then back in the pocket. Everyone carries their own poncho in a back pocket usually.

I buy the 99 cent ponchos, either at walmart or dollar store, wherever I find them.

We are the same, right down to the trip where we arrived the day after a hurricane went through and the ponchos tore off of us one afternoon! I take ours out of the ziplock each night and wipe them off with a hand towel so they don't start to smell funky after a couple of days (I turn the ziplock inside-out and wipe it dry, too… I know, anal, but it doesn't take much time really!).

If I were buying 8 ponchos each, I'd just get a Disney poncho. They are pretty rugged, make a great souvenir, and if they rip while you are there, Disney will replace them, free of charge! (or that's how it used to be… disney's been getting pretty cheap lately…)

I tried to look for cheap ponchos at Walmart and couldn't find any. What section do you find them in? Thanks!

In Walmart they generally keep them in the camping section in the Sporting Goods area.

thanks, I think I'm just going to go with the one cheap poncho per person and then buy Disney's if we really have to. We've never used our ponchos. We moved this year and I haven't come across the box with ponchos from past trips.

We used dollar tree ones for our last trip... BIG mistake.
Not so much for us the adults but my son DS4 at the time, it was to long he kept stepping on it and tripping so we tried to tie it, it would last for a few mins and then fall again. We bought a child sized one from walmart in the camping section and for $6.00 it worked SO much better, was made of a better quality material and was just his size, plus reusable. Dollar tree ones rip and tear, not good for more then a day.

Target down there sells ponchos that have Mickey or Minnie and are the quality Disney sells for $4.00. There is a Target on 192 near Animal Kingdom. It is so close you can see it from Kidani.
We hang ours up in the room at night and repack them in quart size Ziploc bags. We fold small and keep pushing air out so they do not take up as much room. It you put them in a bag wet they will get stinky.

Brilliant thank you so much, and this doesn't really add any weight! I am not good with this stuff, this is perfect :)

My sister said she just cuts the dollar store ones then they don't trip and stuff, but she throws them out after use. She's actually pretty thrifty about most things but I think she doesn't want to have to re-pack them back in after. We will be cutting ours as well.
