silly question I know but I am wondering if I need to purchase and additional memory card. How many pictures might one take on a 7 day disney trip with 3 kids this is our first time.

Tough to say--depends on the size of resolution of your JPGs on your camera. However, memory cards are cheap so I'd say it's worth it to pick up a few spares--I just got several 2 gig SD cards for $6 each on Amazon. They hold about 100-150 pics each at very high res.

BTW use photopass while you are there every chance you get, so that you are in the pictures too!

As many as I can!

Last August I took about 1,300 over 12 days.

Printed about 300 that I liked. Love digital.

I still use film but on my last two seven day vacations I took at least 8 rolls of film (192 pictures) then we got the photo pass CD and had 300 pictures that they took of our kids with the characters. I would highly recommend looking into the photo pass CD - well worth the money and you get to really enjoy as your kids experience the characters!

I plan to also use photo pass we are down there the same time as my cousin and his sister-in-law and her kids $99/3 families= $33 I think it will be worth it.

I think it depends on if you are a "picture taker" or not.

I don't consider myself a picture person. I will not carry a video camera and I have to remind myself to take pictures. I like to experience things, and Personally think that I feel disconected when I'm taking pictures. DH hates having his picture taken- so it's torture to stop and take a photo.

That being said- I took over 600 pictures on our last 5 day trip to disney. We have 2 digital cameras. One is bigger, but takes better pictures. One is tiny but doesn't have a powerful zoom. I was very surprised to see that I had taken this many photos. It's very unlike me.

I like the 4gb - that way I can take pictures of absolutely everything and not feel bad about it.

I used 2-2GB cards and one 256mb card. We were there 9 days we have 2 kids, it was there first time and I am a picture FREAK.

Also take either 2 disposable w/ flash or old 35mm because at night your digital flash, unless extra attached, won't be as good.:goodvibes

I take one 4GB and one 2GB, plus a film camera, with 4 rolls of film and my DD had 5 disposable cameras, and my video camera. I am a picture freak!! We took about 1800, and we have about 600 on photo pass. I am still trying to get them all printed. It's killing my budget :scared1:

This is why i bring the laptop.... I transfer pictures off the camera every night, which allows me to fire away pretty much at-will.

Figuring I can get one or two real "keepers" per 100 shots, es[ecally when kids are involved, anything that will increase the number of pictures I can take over the vacation is a plus.

I delete off as needed while on vacation. I assume I'll keep at least 200 pics on this trip. I have so many memory cards it's pathetic. LOL!

last september we took over 550 photos on a 10 day trip - my DH loves his digital camera!!!!

We took about 650 pictures last year on a 8 day trip, but I was having to delete pictues the last day to have a little more room for a few more shots. I used a 2 Gig and a 256K to capacity. This year, I just bought 2 more 2Gig cards so I will not have to do that.

That's exactly what we do and why!

You know....I was just looking through all of my MANY photos from our last trip and had an epiphany! I take WAY too many pictures of this character or that or attractions, or hedges trimmed in cool ways. What I am going to do differently this time is take more pictures of my children's interactions and responses to those things. That is what I want to remember!

I know that doesn't answer your question. I would try to figure out a way that you could dowload your pictures every night...maybe to a laptop or something. Then you could just clear it out every night.

I do the same--the lappie comes with me.

I just got a new camera for Christmas, trying to decide if i want to haul it with me (it's a big Canon Digital Rebel) or stick to point-and-shoot and Photopass.
