I'm baack...
AKL concierge was wonderful! We celebrated our anniversary and my birthday there (DH was in the desert for both last year-military). The day we celebrated our anniversary, we came back to the room to find congratulatory notes and a gift-pretty box with cologne for both of us. (no, we couldn't get more cologne--they special order it for gifts only
On my birthday, there was a gift, cards and a beautiful, large cake, with my mname written on the tray in chocolate, along with party hats, horns, a candle, matches, china plates, cloth napkins...
I had had them make a PS for Coral Reef as a surprise for my DH for our anniversary (the restaurant in Canada was booked solid) and had been worried about it since reviews of the place have been so mixed. I shouldn't have worried--we got seated right up against the aquarium wall and the food was very good. At the end, they brought over this exquisite dessert--a chocolate cup filled with melted chocolate to dip the strawberries in, an 8-inch tall chocilate "champagne flute" filled with chocolate mousse and topped with a wedge of white chocolate covered with red hearts, and a chocolate banner that said "Congratulations!" It was every bit as beautiful as the Cinderella's slipper dessert mentioned in another thread. DH was blown away and I haven't even gotten to the best part: As we were eating dessert, I saw the diver enter the tank and thought that we had timed it just right to get to see him feed the fish. WRONG! He swam over to us and tapped on the glass, then held up an sign that said "Happy Anniversary, Jeanne and Ed!" He blew bubble kisses and then picked up the crushed shells or whatever that covered the floor of the tank and began to throw them in the air/water like confetti!!!! It was the most magical moment of our trip. Just as we were leaving, someone came over to the table and said his friend had asked him to give us something--the sign the diver had held up. I had no idea any of this was going to happen, so it was a treat for both of us!
