Count me in. Watch out mom rules we are on our way!

Me, too!! We just returned and ready to head back!! How sick is that?!

floridafam - In January, I got hit bad with bronchitis which lasted nearly a month. Kept thinking of our trip, and hoping it didn't happen right before we left, what a bummer! PD to you and your family, I'm sure you will all be healthy and happy soon!!

Hey, guys, had to report this bit of info. When we returned last week, I told y'all that our upgrade made the AKL CL room $405/night. Yesterday, I was balancing my checkbook, and came across the receipts for AKL, and guess what? With the $433 AP rate I had already paid for 2 nights, plus the $278 extra for 2 nights CL, it was actually $355/night(tax included!!):teeth: Even better deal than I thought!::yes:: Doesn't that mean I have to book another trip, I think that's the rule, right?!:sunny:

VAgal....Easter business was very good and now more promers are coming in. Only problem with teen girls....they are the hardest to please!
(Gee...wonder if I was THAT bad!)

floridafam...More {{{HUGS}}} for you, my dear. You have been in thoughts alot. Please keep us posted.

And yes! STONE CRAB!!!!
I'm STILL trying to "absorb" that one! LOL!
;)

k&a&c'smom....that rate sounds MORE like it. When you first posted your upgrade, I thought it sounded high....
the AKL CMs are very good at upgrading you with your current discount!
Thus, you got the going AP rate for your stay! COOL!!!!:teeth:

All you LOUNGE LIZARDS have a wonderful DISney day!

k&a&c'smom,

Thank you. The Doctor said people are getting sick and it just won't go away. I have friends who've been sick for over a month, also. We're all on an antibiotic now. I didn't want to be but this stuff just won't go away. We have eyedrops, too.

I just got back from another Dr's office and I have to have an ultrasound next week cause my exam didn't go well.

I'm about ready to throw in the towel on our trip. :(

Ohhh, floridafam, that would be too bad!:( I know what you are going through, I have asthma and have to get pneumonia and flu shots every year. Last fall, I got my flu shot, but forgot to get the pneumonia shot, and when I got sick, all I could think of was that I was getting pneumonia again, which I wouldn't wish on anyone.

When I first started coughing, I thought it was just my asthma and allergies acting up, so I didn't head straight to the dr. BIG mistake - it just kept getting worse, so I started a Rx of Keflex that I already had on hand. This was a Thurs. and by Sat. night I was so bad, DH was wanting me to go the emergency room. I refused, kept thinking the Keflex would kick in. Finally, on Mon. I went to see the Dr., and after reading me the riot act for waiting so long, he prescribed Levaquin (another, stronger, antibiotic.) It still took 3-4 days for me to feel as though I were on the road to recovery, and a couple more weeks after that to feel 100%.

The moral of that long-winded story is, don't give up just yet. You will get better, hopefully in time for your trip. We'll all be thinking nothing but good thoughts for you and your family.::yes::

:sunny:

Bambi - When I was posting on Easter, I stopped to add up the charges, to post an accurate nightly rate. I was in a hurry, and when I added it up(pencil and paper) I thought "that sounds higher than I thought" but still better than rack, which I would have paid. I kept thinking about it, so when I balanced my check-book, I added it up again. Voila! The rate was more like what I thought at check-in!! :teeth:

Floridafam - I would have to agree with k&a&c'smom on not giving up on your trip. You've got some time left before you leave. You feel like death now, but you may be feeling up to snuff later and ready to roll by the time that trip comes around!

Bambi - I'm glad Easter business was good for you. Prom...that's another story. I would've worn sneakers to my prom if my Mom would've let me - LOL! I hope you get clients that are easy going and open minded!

Ya'll just have yourself a wonderful day you hear !

luckywife-just want to get you even more excited about your trip...You are going to LOVE LV. It is so great to watch the castle change color at night and with your 18 month old you may very well be back in your room in time for the EWP. I went LV for my first trip in Oct 02 with DD because I wanted her to have that extra bit of magic on her 1st trip. I really went back & forth over it in Jan but decided I just had to have LV and am so glad I did. We always had the kids ready for bed (sometimes at least 1 was asleep) when the EWP came by.

I had requested a 2nd floor room both years. The first year because I was 6 months pregnant and wanted to be close to the longe and the 2nd year because I didn't want to have to worry about the kids (4,3 &1) on the balcony of the 3rd floor or wondering out of the room on the first floor. Like k&a&c'smom said you can open the sliding door windows and get the feel of a balcony on the 2nd floor.

I did not use the CL strollers. I was worried they'd be out when I needed it so I brought my double umbrella stroller and rented a stroller and full size crib for my 1 year old from A Baby's Best Friend (abbf.com).

floridafam-so sorry to hear you're all so sick. You gonna need that vacation!

SteveandDonna-thanks for the advice on Oct/Nov. We don't golf I was wondering what those golf events did the crowds in the parks. I think I'm leaning toward Nov if we go this year. Do you have any idea of crowds during the 3rd week in Nov?

lovesdumbo - have you thought about going after Turkey Day? We went last Dec. 8-13, and it was the most magical time!! All the decorations were up, there were no crowds, you could walk on to nearly every ride, it was fantastic!! If DD wasn't starting HS this fall, we would go at that time again, but if we take her out of school in HS, she will miss a lot more classes. :( We really loved that time of year, the only downside was that we needed to wear sweaters a few days, but, hey, small price to pay, IMO!

You might not want to wait that long, just a thought!!:teeth:

I was wondering what those golf events did the crowds in the parks

We've been a few times during the golf event and didn't notice any difference.

October is a wonderful time to go to Disney. Most of the people we saw at the resort were volunteers and spectators who were either coming or going to the golf event. We didn't think the parks were overly crowded during this time.

floridafam - DD and I were thinking of going in Oct. this year, due to her HS getting the 25-26 off. Would this be too close to Halloween? We would like to go in Dec., but as previously stated, we would have to wait for Christmas break, which I do not want to brave after Easter week this year!

We have gone around the 19th or 23rd of October the past few years.

It really is my favorite time to go to Florida. We have never noticed many crowds the days the golf event is going on. Heck, we really wouldn't have realized it was going on except we heard people talking about it and you can see all the spectator parking from the monorail.

MNSSHP is nice to go to but I wouldn't go on Halloween. We are going to try and go the Sunday before Halloween this year so we can spend Halloween at Vero Beach.

:sunny:

k&a&c'smom-I've been in early Dec 3 times and LOVE it! BUT.....with 3 small kids we just don't want to worry about possible snow delays or anyone getting the flu (I know that can happen anytime). Maybe when the kids are a bit bigger and can understand the need for a toned downed Christmas at home (lack of time) if we do Disney in December we'll try.

I was at Disney 10/26/02 to 30 and I didn't think the crowds were too bad-better than January 6th to 11th this year. My son turned 3 on 1/10 and we did a birthday party at CP (CL arrange for a great Mickey cake!). That was the Saturday before the marathon and MK was jammed! I also went in Oct 96 and the crowds weren't too bad but I don't remember the exact dates.

Thanks for the info, guys!! We would like to go back before the fall, but DS has a wedding in July, and college in the fall. This may put a damper on my summer travel!:hyper:

Sounds like Oct. may be what we're looking for, we like the lower crowds. We used to always go during the summer, when the crowds are pretty big, but Easter week was crazy!! :crowded: DD and I have decided we prefer the quieter time, even if the hours are shorter and the fireworks are not every night.::yes::

Wow...It's been a while! My oldest dearest friend's mother passed away over Easter.- very difficult time. Just getting back to reality now...paying bills, doing taxes, and all things Disney, of course. ;)

Hope everyone is doing well. I was so excited to read about k&a&c'smom's trip! Welcome back....sounds like an awesome trip! I was SO looking forward to your report!

floridafam... About Joe's Stone Crab...We have one in Chicago now. I used to live in Miami and I swear they are just as good. They've perfected some preservation process and we're able to get them year 'round...YUMMY!!! Keep that in mind if you're ever in the Midwest! :) Oh...just curious, does the Vero Beach resort have Concierge??

I'm just loving reading all of your plans!!! It sure does give us great ideas to read about them! Thanks again to dear BambiTamby for this thread!

I've been reading elsewhere about this Pop Warner group who will be in WDW the same time as our trip. Can anyone ease my mind about park attendance during that time?

Have a great day/night everyone!!! :wave2:

Yes, Joe's Stone Crab in Chicago! I keep forgetting that it is there. Is the one in Miami open all year? I thought they were only open for stone crab season?

I think Stone Crab is my DH's favorite food. He grew up in Hollywood, FL and lived on fresh fruit and fish for most of his life. He really misses it.

Any stone crab we are able to get up here is pretty gross.

Vero Beach doesn't have concierge but I don't miss it while there. It is truly an amazing resort. We love the beach and could easily live at VB. The restaurants are wonderful, the resort is wonderful. We just soak up the Florida sun whenever we are there. They have wonderful CM's who treat the guests like family.

Have you seen some of our pictures from VB?

lovesdumbo Thanks so much for all of the good info about the Poly. EWP.....I didn't even think of that! I've been busy thinking about all of the other neat things we'll get to see/do while we're there, that one slipped my mind. I can't wait to see it. We are planning to bring our own stroller just incase one of the jogging strollers aren't avaliable for us to use one day or something. I was SO excited this morning....Melissa from concierge sent me an email and said she put my request for a crib and a non-smoking room on file. I had also asked her about a carriage ride (surprise for DH) and she said that they can book us for it on the day/time I asked for. :Pinkbounc
I have been thinking about getting tickets for Cirque du Soleil, DH has been itching to see that show for quite a while so when I fill out our planning itinenary, I may order those tickets as well. Thank you so much everyone for your advice and information. You have really helped my planning and made it so much more enjoyable!! :D

floridafam so sorry to hear you have been ill. Hope you start feeling better really soon!

WoodysRoundup - So sorry to hear about your friend's mother, that is very sad. And, it seems more difficult somehow to have a loved one pass away over a holiday, thereafter when everyone else is celebrating you are sad and lonely. I hope their memories of her will ease their pain, and yours.

As far as your trip goes, hmmm, when we were there last Dec. there were a few cheerleading groups around, not sure about the Pop Warner groups. If I remember, they were supposed to be there at the same time, but we never saw them. We did hear a cheerleading group one afternoon, coming back from Epcot to the BC, they may have been practicing, but more likely just in high spirits. That's it. No noticeable crowds at the parks, resorts, restaurants. Hope that helps, they may have come and gone by the time we were there, or not gotten there yet. :wave2:

luckywife - LOL! The EWP, we forgot about it, and DD and I were in our room early one night, getting ready for bed. We were going to wait for the fireworks, and were sitting on the beds talking, when we heard some music outside. DD and I looked at each other, and I said "have they started already, it's only 9?!" DD went to the window, and said it was the water pageant, we started laughing that we had so completely forgotten to look for it!!:teeth:

Cirque du Soleil is FANTASTIC!! Can't say enough good things about it, sorry it took us sooo long to see it! It's just incredible, you won't be sorry if you go!:jumping1:
