I can feel the excitement coming through the computer! So glad you had a wonderful trip, and you snagged concierge to boot! Your CL price at the counter isn't much more than AP price! Your room at the POLY also sounds fantastic! One of these days....

Did you try the amarula? We drink Bailey's normally; the amarula was just so much better! My Ankole family is doing well! Yeah, I get to see them in less than two days! I am assuming they are still hanging out at the back of Uzima savannah?

Next time we'll send even more PD and get you on the safari! You have to do it at least once! The breakfast afterwards is to die for! *ok, so I am going twice, but DH hasn't been yet and DS said he HAD to go!*

Happy Easter!

Debbie

Thank you to everyone sending in the good thoughts for my trip! I am bursting through the seams right now!

Welcome home k&a&c'smom

Thanks for stopping here a moment to let us know about your wonderful trip. :)

And to all, Happy Easter, Happy Passover.

I have not tried Concierge yet but I am getting very tempted. :teeth: One of these days I am sure I will. I am enjoying reading all these reviews of Concierge and it is making me very curious, especially the Sunrise/Sunset Safari at AKL since that is my favorite resort. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Welcome home, k&a&c'smom! I'm so glad to hear you had such a wonderful trip. We actually have ressies for both Poly and AKL CL for this winter on hold in case I get a new job in time for us to be able to afford it. If not, I know those CL's will be on our list of places to stay. I've done Poly CL before, but never AKL CL. I just can't wait to give it a try! :)

k&a&c'smom, Glad you had a great trip! We are going to AKL CL in late Sept! I was just wondering about room 6206? Did it have bunkbeds by chance? Also, could you see a lot of animals? We would really like to get a room on the 6th floor!

A few pages back Bambi desribed all of the sixth floor rooms and their bed configurations. She did some top secret work for us during her last concierge visit! I will try to find it for you!

Found it!

The rooms with KING and daybed are #6207 and 6403.
The handicap-access rooms are #6203 (roll-in shower)
and 6204 (tub).
The rooms with queen, bunks and daybed....
#6401, 6404, 6202, 6208.
The rest are 2 queens.
There are 15 rooms on the sixth floor,
rooms #6201-6209 are the savannah, and #6401-6406 are PV.

Hope this helps!

#1hockeymom, Thanks! That does help! I guess I want 6202 or 6208. I wonder which has better views? Oh well, something new to worry about! Have a great trip! I can't wait to hear your reviews!:bounce:

We were bitten a few years ago, but haven't been able to "scratch" since! We did the land/cruise package for our 10th anniversary and booked with Dreams Unlimited. We had it posted all over our ressies that we were there for our anniversary, and what a nice treat we received! We arrived at the Beach Club to check in, and we were told at the front desk to take the elevator up to the 5th floor and someone would meet us there at a desk. We didn't know what the 5th floor meant!! We got upstairs and were greated by two very friendly cast members who explained to us that we had been upgraded to conscierge! Not only that, but we had an awesome corner room with two decks and the best view in the house right over Stormalong bay and overlooking Swan & Dolphin as well as Boardwalk. The lounge was wonderful with excellent breakfast options, and snacks throughout the day as well as the evening desserts and drinks.

Let me say, we didn't want to leave to go on our cruise we were treated so well, and totally spoiled!!!

Joe (one of the CM's at the 5th floor desk) got in cahoots with my hubby to sneak my anniversary present into our room to be put on my bed at turndown (a beautiful bracelette), and got us a Mickey/Minnie photo and a anniversary pin from Beach club to boot.

We are staying at BCV this trip since we have since gone DVC, but nothing will beat that concierge experience!!

Hello to JEN too!
We posted the same time! LOL!

I just came back from BC CL three weeks ago and they were wonderful.::yes::
and what a wonderful suprise upgrade and anniversary story!
These CL CM's do everything! It's what separates CL from the rest of the guest sevices. No doubt.
Thank you for sharing such a neat story and hope you'll consider a "concierge quickie" before or after a DVC stay.

Yup....it's hard to go back once you've been spoiled!

I like others before me, I had tried to avoid this post for fear of what it would do to me but I couldn't resist and have just finished reading all 60 pages. You guys are all so great I just couldn't stop reading. Even while reading I kept saying I can resist the urge ....but while taking a shower this morning I found myself trying to figure out how to get my DH to agree to a trip this year.

Here's how I got bit by the bug....in Sep 02 at my DBrother's wedding my BIL asked my DH, I & kids to join him & his family on a trip to Disney. I immediatly jumped at a trip to Disney but being pregnant with baby #3 I was not up for chasing my DS(20 months) around so we decided I would bring DD(3 1/2) and DH would stay home with DS. Well my BIL then decided not to go but by now I was desperate to bring DD because who knew when we'd ever to get to Disney with 3 kids and I wanted her to discover the magic while still young. I wouldn't travel with DD alone while 6 months pregnant so I paid for a friend to go with us. I knew in my condition I wanted a resort with easy access to MK and had soon picked the Poly. I think it was Tikiman's site that convinced me of CL. Before my trip I had read lots of negative reviews on the Poly and worried a bit but then I'd read the positive ones and decided to trust those. It really couldn't have been any better. A room with a view of the castle and CL was just perfect for a pregnant woman and her 3 1/2 year old. And although I had been to several other Disney resorts and thought they were all great I just fell in love with the Poly. It was such a relaxing atmosphere. I couldn't wait to return and thought it would be 2006 before I'd be going back.

Then in the summer of 03 my DH's 2 sisters asked him to go Scotland with them. He thought long & hard and although he would have loved to have gone and I was pushing for him to go he just couldn't stand the thought of being "across the pond". How would he get home if something happened? And then he said "I'd rather take a trip with my family." Well thats all the opening a Disney addict needs to book a trip. I asked my friend to join us again and all 6 of us stayed in 1 room at the Poly LVC in Jan 04. I had told my DH and friend that we could get a 2BR villa but they both thought CL was a better choice. We had a great trip. My DH tends to worry & I really couldn't tell if he had a good time on the trip but on the drive home from the airport he said "next time it will be a lot easier-(as the kids get older)". I had repeatedly told him I wanted to go back before baby turns 3 and since we had been there for my DS's 3rd birthday (very magical!) in Jan I was thinking we'd go in Jan 06 for DD's 3rd. But I thought the parks were more crowded than my Oct 02 trip and we had to worry about snow here for flying and worry about getting the flu and it was COLD in Orlando-30's so I mentioned to DH a few weeks ago that I thought an Oct 05 trip would be better and he agreed-less for him to worry about.

Well then I went and read this thread. So now I'm thinking hey what if I could get an AP rate for Oct 04 and then use those passes for our Oct 05 trip......in addition to reading this thread I had taken lots of side trips to links for viewing photos. From the photos and reviews I thought maybe we should try AKL CL. I still want to go to Poly for Oct 05 but I liked that AKL had a playground and AK was DH's favorite park. So I mentioned to him on the drive to his Mom's for Easter dinner "I was looking at photos of AKL and they have a playground." And he said to me "yeah but do they have concierge?". I think I've trained him well.

It's just an itch right now but by the time summer gets here and I'm working long hours on budgets I'm sure I'll have a full blown case of the CL bug and will be trying to figure out how to get DH to agree to my much needed break from reality. He's just not a Disney addict but I'm hoping the kids can convince him....Oh and I almost forgot to say we'll be celebrated our 20th anniversary in Sept (I can't travel in Sept due to work) so what better excuse to take a Disney trip?

BT-Thanks for such a fun thread.
#1hockeymom have a great trip!
k&a&c'smom I am so happy for you-can't believe you got AKLCL-how wonderful for you!
Fred you will love the Poly!
Steffy-its so funny that you don't want to have your counter yet. I want to start picking Oct 05 dates-I figure if I start out at 500 then at 250 I can say hey I'm 1/2 way there.....
Woodysroundup-we'll have to scheme together to convert our DH's-I'm hoping the pure joy of my kids will keep him going while they are young and then I will take them by myself. He joined me on my 1st trip to the world in 93 (Dolphin club level) and we had a great time but he didn't want to go back so I went without him 6 times.

You guys are great!

It all started with a bet.........

To make a long story short, I have a bet with my DH regarding the completion of our addition (started 15 years ago:rolleyes: ) . The important thing is , no matter whether I win or lose the bet, we're staying CL for our JUly '05 trip:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I do have a question for all you CL experts: Do the 14th floor rooms at the CR sleep 5? We have 3 kids, and the CR was the kids first choice

LovesDumbo>> Great story! Thank you for sharing with us! I was smiling the entire time I was reading it. You can weave a great story!

Kteacher>> We live in a 120 year old house (I know, a baby compared to east coast houses but here in the midwest it is OLD!) I keep on asking myself WHY, and what possessed me to want character over soaring ceilings and open spaces! Anyways, I've got a bathroom to show you, a master bedroom.... WAIT! Can't show you, they're NOT DONE! The building of a new cabin on our property in the UP just nudged them back on the list, too! Now I will say that AKL helped me make a countertop decision for a different bath! "Yes Dear, here is a picture, I want to MATCH the granite of this bathroom. Can we do this?"

btw..its not done, but the granite is bought! :) You know that commercial where they want the house built around the faucet? I have a countertop and a faucet, but an empty hole for a room where it goes!

and people wonder why the GF is so far down on my list... I live it! *minus a few bathrooms* Now I do like the idea of an orchestra playing. Don't have that unless it is Friday night in the summer, the village band is playing, and the wind is going just right! LOL Oh, I know I'll visit it soon, probably this trip, and totally fall in love!

I digress..... On to happy thoughts! Have a wonderful trip Kteacher! You will win either way! For me, its PACKING DAY! I am going to Disney!

Room wave all around,
Debbie

Hi!

It looks like we may have funds in the budget to possibly add Concierge to our WL visit.
BUT--we are already on the Silver plan. So, I am trying to decide if we would fully get our moneys worth from the food offerings, when we will be eating two full sit down meals a day. And, I prefer to make all of my own PS's
(Yes, call me a control freak ::yes:: ) .

I posted the above, with some more WL relevant info to the WL FAQ board, but I thought I may get more concierge feedback from all of you here.

By the way, we are a family of 4.Myself, DH and two sons
ages 10 & 12 (at trip time).

~Chris

Been doing a lot of reading about the YC and YC- CL...and I must say it sounds extremely appealing in comparison to the CR! I really think my kids would *love* SAB...

Anyway...was wondering if anyone here had stayed at both, and if they had a preference? We're considering changing our ressie from CR to YC, as we've never stayed there, and the pool at CR is so..."cement pond-like.":teeth:

That Commodore Suite looks pretty nice too:crazy:

TIA!

Tooboyz4us-I've never done Silver Plan but I would think if you can do it you'd still enjoy CL. Don't know what meals you plan on eating out but even if you have a PS for breakfast its great to have a quick bite or coffee/juice before you head out and its so nice to have the sodas and afternoon snack if you head back to the room.

I really love having the lounge in the morning. My DH is kinda slow in the morning and I can take the kids down the longe while he gets ready and it more relaxing than pacing in the room.

I thought I'd try to pick some tentative dates so I can do a countdown. Are there dates in Oct I should avoid? When is the Golf? How are the crowds for that. I want to do as late in Oct 04 as possible so I have more flexibility in dates for 05 if I do AP's. Halloween is on a Sunday this year so I'm thinking the week of the 25th might be good. I was there the week of Halloween in 02 and the crowds weren't too bad. We went home on 10/30. Maybe I should even consider Nov because its value season but the first week is Jersey week and the next is Veteran's Day-how bad are the Veteran's Day crowds?-I didn't think they were too bad in 98. What are the crowds like the week of 11/15-the full week before Thanksgiving? Does anyone know how the crowds are for Columbus Day?

Thanks for advice!

TooBoyz4us - Welcome to the thread! I'm on the Silver Plan right now & doing CL for split stay at AKL & WL. I've used most of my wishes for dinner since I've chosen the higher priced restaurants to eat at like Narcossee's, Artist Pointe, Yachtsman's, etc. I plan to grab a quick bite in the lounge a few mornings, but we still plan on having at least two or three sit down breakfasts, too. We are winging lunch since I didn't want to be so schedule oriented - just let the magic happen, right? Is it saving money, we'll see. I guess we'll discuss later on the Budget Board - LOL! Anyway, CL is not really about saving money, but for extra pampering/attention. Need to change a PS on a moment's notice? They take care of it for you. You'll have a separate check in as well as a lounge for relaxing in that offers snacks and drinks which is nice to have. I believe the views from the CL rooms tend to be better than the standard room as well. I'm sure there are other benefits to CL that I haven't mentioned. Nonetheless, IMPO it's worth every penny. I've stayed in other deluxe hotels including the Greenbrier, but I don't think you can really compare it to CL at a WDW resort from what I gather from the others on this thread. It's just a different animal and a very unique experience. It's a flavor all on its own. Everyone has loved their CL experiences and keeps returning again and again - some to the same resort and others like to hop around. It really depends on you are looking for. I'm still waiting in line for my turn and it's coming...slowly, but surely. :teeth:

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend! And to all the newbies on the thread - WARM WELCOME to you folks!

Welcome back k&a&c'smom! I'm glad you had a superb trip! Can't wait to hear more about AKL CL. I love to read everyone's stories about their experiences. :wave2:

60 day mark is approaching.....I'm finally nearing a milestone!

WOW, what great and helpful response posts lovesdumbo & VAgal76 !!

VAgal76, you made quite a sale :teeth:
Lets see, our ressie is for 1 night room only, and 5 nights w/package.I could either book all 6 nights Concierge level or just 5.
Its about 100.00 a night if I book it now right?(If its even available)

If I decide to do this.....I am going to keep it a secret from my DH.I think the special arrival/check-in attention would completely blow him away! And I would LOVE to surprise him.

Okay one more question----given that we have requested inner courtyard view and bunk beds, will I stand any less of a chance getting those requests since I will be limited to the 7th floor?
Bunk beds are important to my boys......they do not want to sleep togther.
Or will the fact that we have booked c-level increase our chances?

Just wondering :scratchin
