How many of ya'll been "bitten" by the Concierge "bug"!

I agree!! One of the greatest things (for me) doing concierge is waking up in the AM, stepping out for a breath of air on the balcony, then heading down for coffee and stuff in the lounge area. It's great to sit there and watch the people down in the main lobby while sipping at your morning brew. :) Ahhhh....I love WL concierge.

BUT....the details that TwoBoys4us mentioned in the WL FAQ forum lead me to believe that concierge may not be what they want.

Of course, I'm a lounge lizard so you already know where "I" would stay. ::yes:: :teeth:

If I decide to do this.....I am going to keep it a secret from my DH.I think the special arrival/check-in attention would completely blow him away! And I would LOVE to surprise him.

Okay one more question----given that we have requested inner courtyard view and bunk beds, will I stand any less of a chance getting those requests since I will be limited to the 7th floor?
Bunk beds are important to my boys......they do not want to sleep togther.
Or will the fact that we have booked c-level increase our chances?

Just wondering :scratchin

Bunkbeds are still a request and they do have them available on the CL. It's not a sure thing because you are on the CL, but I believe they try very to hard to meet everyone's request. I'm not sure how the rooms are layed out on that level - I've never been to WDW myself. Fred would be your best bet on that one since he's the WL veteran.

I've managed to keep my secret of CL from my DH because of this thread with the exception of AKL because he wanted to do the sunrise safari there. He already knew you had to be CL to book the sunrise safari. But he still doesn't know about the CL at WL or the Grand1 firework cruise I've got booked. Those secrets have been tucked away safely with me thus far. :smooth: If he doesn't ask, I'm not going to tell...LOL!

Good luck on your trip planning! :wave2:

Hi all,

Am pretty new to this board and brand new to this thread so I hope my questions don't seem too 'silly.' We just booked our very first stay at the Poly and decided to try concierge for the first time too! :Pinkbounc I was told to either email and/or call the staff, which I did this morning. (email) My first question is, how long does it normally take for them to respond? I have already made a few of our PS arrangements so I don't need much assistance with that right now. I did, however, ask them about the carriage ride at Ft Wilderness, I think. Have any of you done this before and do you know if this is something the staff can help me with?
Was also wondering about access to the lounge. Will they send me information in the mail about this (and other things) or will it be something I'll find out about once we get there? Thanks so much in advance for the help.

luckywife - we just got back from Poly CL, and before our trip emailed quite often for PS, etc. They have been extremely busy, so if I emailed at, say 2 p.m. I would get an answer the following morning. However, many posters have stated that they get a response the same day, and there were a few times that I did as well. After the Easter rush is over, they will probably have the time to respond right away, but within 24 hours was extremely good, IMO!

You'll love the Poly CL, they are so warm and friendly, and LV is spectacular, if that is what you choose. I'm sure GV is also lovely, the whole resort has such a wonderful atmosphere.

Bambi - you are so right, I'm sure I have y'all's good vibes:goodvibes to thank for my upgrade!::yes:: And, even though we loved the Poly, the cm's and the view, AKL felt like coming home when we entered the lobby! The CL cm's were so friendly, so warm and the lounge was great - the food offerings, though we didn't get to try much as we had dinner out, were top notch. And, we loved the cooking demonstration by the Boma chef, he was great!! Already trying to figure out how soon we can go back!:teeth:

Debbie - Bye, have a great time, I'll be thinkin' of ya! BTW - you asked about the liqueurs, but to be honest, I didn't get to try any of them - with MK open 'til midnight, and extended hours at the other parks as well, we didn't get back in time for the night-time offerings!! A couple nights, as we passed the lounge, I grabbed a few mini-desserts on our way to our room, but that's about it!! In fact, we really only made use of the breakfast offerings,as we were out and about most of the day. Next time will be at a less-congested time of year, hopefully next fall. Have a fantastic trip!!!::yes::

I don't remember who stated that they preferred to make their own PS's, but I thought the same thing until this trip. It was so great to let concierge make the arrangements, and to be honest, I feel that we got seated quicker at the restaurants. We were there at the second-busiest time of the year, and never had to wait more than 2 or 3 minutes to be seated. Wow!! On all the trips I have booked my own PS, it usually takes a few minutes at best, and during peak times as much as 20-30 minutes for a table. Let CL do all the work for you, you won't regret it!:sunny:

Luckywife - Welcome to the thread!

Oooohhh, Poly CL - NICE! I heard many good things about the Poly and it seems to be one of the favorites amoung the lounge lizards. I'm sure someone on this thread can give you a phone # or e-mail to contact the IPO over there to finish setting up your details. If memory serves me right, the e-mail address for it might be a few pages back since someone else asked for it also. I think Poly & another resort share an IPO. You don't have to wait for them to contact you at all. I believe they send you a packet with your travel documents within so many days of your arrival.

Anyway, I'm so happy for you :teeth:!!!

#1hockeymom - Travel safe & have a blast on your trip!

I just read the best sentence ever in an email from AKL IPO!

I wanted to touch base and let you know that we were able to book Cinderella's Royal Table for 9:45 AM on the 14th of April for a party of three!

YES! We got it! *jumping up and down and happydancing like we won the Stanley Cup!*

Ok, my house is torn apart. We need to somehow get to the mall because hockeystar grew more than I thought he did. Someone make that boy stop eating and growing! :) I am half packed, if you call my stuff on the bed and DH's on the floor, DS's in the kitchen half in a suitcase, packed. Shoes? I have tons... I can't find room! AHHHH I'm going to Disney and at this rate we'll have to buy all new clothes! LOL

Welcome all new people to this great thread! Its a great thread, filled with tons of good information!

K&a&c'smom>> Now you have something to look forward to the next time you go! I honestly didn't have it until my last night at CL when one of the CMs pointed it out! Now I can't stop talking about it, nor can I find it locally (or unlocally in my case).

Please throw some PD my way for a fantastic room! Actually, all I need is savannah view, smoking (DH)! I dont care how far away from the lounge it is... I just care about the view! I know not to expect miracles as it is Easter week. I'm going to Disney, I'm going to Disney! (yes, I was just there in January... doesn't seem to matter, though!)

*giant wave and off to the drug store!*
Debbie

YAY, Debbie!! - I would jump and dance with you, but my leg is still swollen from all the park-hopping!!:teeth: So happy for you, now your trip is even more magical! I can tell you are just as excited as I was this time last week!! Take a deep breath, don't hyperventilate, you'll be there before you know it!!

Who asked me about room 6206?! The view was of the Sunset Savanna, which has trees that obscure the view somewhat. But, we did see giraffe, crowned cranes, vultures, some antelope we couldn't identify:rolleyes: and the ostrich, one of which my DD named Melvin, heehee! When she would call his name, he would look up at the balcony, it was like he knew her voice, so funny!!:teeth:

AWESOME!!!! :jumping1:

Thank you so much everyone for the warm welcome!! I am really looking forward to learning about everything concierge has to offer from all of you.

k&a&c'smom- thanks so much for the tip on when I should expect to hear from the staff about our requests. I can imagine that they are very busy, especially this time of year. I will just wait patiently until I hear from them.

We booked LV and I think the view from our room is one of the things I'm most looking forward to. Having never stayed at this resort before, or concierge, I think we have a lot of nice surprises in store for us.

Does anyone know about the jogging strollers they have avaliable? I know it's a first come first serve basis, but wondered if they have a good number of them or if it might be hard to get one. We are traveling with an 18 month old so this type of stroller seems ideal.

Thanks again everyone for your help:D

Luckywife-you will LOVE Poly CL!!! When you drive up to the entrance (after you pass security) you tell the bellman that you have a reservation for concierge. They will escort you to the Hawaii building in a golf cart. If your room is ready they bring you to your room and you can relax for a few minutes before you do the paperwork of checking in. If your room isn't ready yet they put your luggage in storage in bring you to the CL to check in. Both times I was there our rooms were ready. It was just so nice to relax for just 5 minutes before having to deal with the paperwork and when you do check in its usually quick because CL has its own check in.

Debbie have fun with Cindy & friends. How great!

Hurray!!!!! #1hockeymom on your CRT ressies
Have a magical trip!
LOL about your house - we bought our 1899 4-square 9 years ago to fix up & sell - STILL here!

Steffy- sorry, DH got all the good genes in his family. His brother thinks you do Disney 3 times in your life - once as a kid, once as a parent, and once as a grandparent. He thinks we're a little crazy.

Welcome lovesdumbo, luckywife & 2boyz4us! You all are right - this is a great thread.

lovesdumbo In our experience, Columbus Day is busier than Veterans Day. Golf is very limited in October because of the ESPN golf challenge & Funai classic. DH has gotten stuck with only one course available to the public at various times. More about this at www.wdwgolf.com
We love October, but the 2nd week of November was really great last year - no crowds, still hot, and lower humidity.

It's cold in Chicago today - I really need a Disney fix!

lovesdumbo- WOW! Thanks for that little tip about check-in. I had no idea they would take us to our room (or building) when we arrive. How nice! Concierge sounds just heavenly--I can't wait! You know, until I read this thread, I had no idea what a concierge stay consisted of. Once I started reading I told DH "ok, we have GOT to try this!" Thankfully he agreed and is just as excited as I am. Now all we have to do is wait...wait...wait for the end of May.

luckywife - Yes, I didn't even think to mention about the bell services cart-ride to the Hawaii bldg. When we arrived, I told them we were concierge, he went to the desk and called concierge, and was able to tell us our room was not ready, and they would keep our luggage until it became available. He asked if we would like to ride to Hawaii, but we decided to wander through the lobby and the grounds first!! LV is awesome, we had a perfect view of the castle. We had requested the third floor, but due to the Poly being completely booked, the only third floor room available was a smoking-optional room. Aida told us they had room #2502 available, which was non-smoking, and in her opinion had a better castle view. Though it did not have a balcony, you could open the sliding door to get a spectacular view of the resort, the castle, the GF. We loved our room, and hated to leave!!:sunny:

The only complaint, the Poly hair dryer was not a very good one! It was an old-fashioned, wall-mount hair dryer with a long hose attached, NOT a blow-dryer. It did the job, but barely!

Debbie,
Just wanted to wish you a safe and wonderful vacation! It won't be long now...get packing, girl!

k&a&c'smom The blow-dryer story I found pretty amusing lol. Just the thought of it and what it must look like makes me giggle. :p I will definitely remember to bring mine from home.

I requested non-smoking, is that usually something they're able to give you? Also, does anyone know of any good websites with more info on the Poly and CL?

WOW! Look at all the new LOUNGE LIZARDS!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Welcome lovesdumbo, TooBoyz4us and luckywife!!!

Debbie....that counter of yours is looking awesome!
And a HUGE CONGRATS on getting those CRT ressies!
See....CL DOES work wonders!
Blowing lots of PD~*~*~*~*~*~*~~ your way for a magical trip!
princess:

k&a&c'smom....As much as I LOVE the Poly CL, I know where you are coming from about the AKL CL.
They are just wonderful....hands down!::yes::

But, I would like to add that EACH CL has their own unique appeal that strikes each person differently.
As much as I ADORE the poly CL, I am leaning on doing the CR Tower Club with the WL CL and Yosemite Suite on this June trip.
I'm a real woodsy, outdoor, animal-loving, tropical, and nautical, beach-stye gal.......
but we really enjoyed this last trip to the CR....I guess it's something different for us.
And the AP rate for the Tower Club was great!

Big wave to everyone else here and floridafam, you've been on my mind lately. Hope you and DH's health is improving and he's getting psyched about May!

:sunny: :wave2:

luckywife - LOL! Yes, the dryer is strange-looking, I kept looking for the real one!! It reminds me of the old hair dryers that my mom would use, with the bonnet that filled with air, that you put over your curlers!! HA! Just dated myself!

I can't remember, have you visited tikiman's website? There are lots of pictures, and wonderful info. Go to tikiman2001.homestead.com!

Gee, I was hoping that they updated those hairdryers when they renovated the Hawaii building!

So, they STILL have those old dryers!
LOL! I love how you decribed them k&a&c'smom!:teeth:

Hey, Bambi, how's it goin'! The Poly hair dryers were the only, very small, complaint on the trip!! Well, the crowds at MK were elbow-to-elbow, but that was to be expected!!

Your June trip sounds fantastic - I'm sure you will have a blast!! Is that the trip with your parents? Much as I love my mom, there's no way I could spend my vacation with her, you are so lucky to have such a good relationship!!:love2:

:sunny:

Welcome to our thread lovesdumbo! luckywife and kteacher!

lovesdumbo, loved your CL story....

k&a&c'smom really happy to hear about the good service with the ps. And you were there during a busy time.... as always, I am stressed about December.....

steveanddonna.... So no Disney genes for the old bil huh? Oh well. It was a thought!!

Vagal76... I'm keeping the CL portion of the trip a surprise for my DD. And I have 249 more days to do it!!

lovesdumbo.... a counter for you soon! Good for you. I'm not that brave....

I so love this thread. Thanks again Bambi....
