How many Mr. Potato Head Parts Can U fit?

I am super excited about this too!!! We are bringing two potatoheads and can't wait to get a bunch of unique parts!

Any new pieces? I didn't even look this year.

I have a huge bucket filled with pieces. I probably should have filled the Potato Head case, but I started doing the boxes.

I did get a few extra pieces for free also. I paid for the Buzz Lightyear ride seperately, but asked if the CM could fit in the other two or three pieces I couldn't get in. I think he started over and then couldn't even get close to what I had in the box.

We had so much fun doing this last time however we lost many parts due to moving and also we put in the actual Mr. Potato head so it took a lot of space. This year, I was able to get the Christmas Mr. Potato Heads for less than $2 each during Targets after Christmas sale so I bought 5 to give away. Little did I realize it would be perfect for my 4 kids this Christmas as a prelude to what we do on our trip so I'm only giving 1 away. Now we all get to look forward to filling boxes with pieces and no one has to share a head.

This is what I do and yes, I get some looks and remarks from the store workers but they are always nice about my insanity.

First, get a basket and put all the pieces you want inside. Then grab a Potato Head box and find an empty, unused floor space. Sit down and dump your pieces on the floor and do every possible configuration to fit as many pieces as possible.

Filling Potato Head boxes is quite possibly my favorite part of our Disney trips. Have fun!!!

OMG!! you are JUST CRAZY! (and have just issued me a challenge!:rotfl:) that sound like so much fun! we are going early dec. and what a great christmas gift for our grandaughter! I'll just tell hubby to go have a drink at Raglan road while I have fun!!

hey! they should have a contest... whoever gets the most pieces in a certain amount of time gets it for free!!.. the only stipulation.. if you particiapte in the contest, you have to purchase whatever you brought out (in HOPES of fitting it in)!

If I had a set of MPH feet I'd kick myself right now! :rotfl:

I've walked past the MPH displays dozens of time without giving them a second look. WHY DIDN'T I STOP AND SHOP? ugh!

Well...I'm a little late to the party, but I will definitely fill up my first box on our trip in January and I can't wait! We have a new little girl and I'm sure she'll enjoy the toys as she gets older! My other kids are hooked on..pins, pressed pennies, and charms. Now it's MY TURN - AND I WANT POTATOES!

My youngest is almost 9 but this was always their favorite purchase and still is. MPH was my favorite toy as a child and we have all of mine from when I was little. Add in all the ones we have collected over the years and we have a large Rubbermaid container that barely closes (yo uhave to pack the heads in first or it won't close) and yet we still do a box each trip with new pieces. In the past we'd do a box at each location, now that there are only new pieces we don't have we only do one (not even sure there are new ones this trip, we will see soon.)

I too collect the pieces we want and then go sit in a corner and make them fit. I have had a couple times had CM come to see if I want help and tell me they wanted to watch me for tips. You can do things like put 2 Mickey bar ice creams into the bottom of shoes and stuff like that to use up space. At the end the girls so and get a bunch of those and stuff those in and we hot glue a magnet on the back and they give them to their teachers as a little gift from our trip. I hope there are more new pieces, this is always one thing we ,ove to do, I'd hate to think we have them all.

Even thoughb my kids don't play with them, when we have friend over with younger kids and we pull them out they still have fun with them with the you nger kids. I know someday they will enjoy passing them on to their children and will remeber all the times, sitting in the corner of a gift shop in Disney filling up the boxes. :lovestruc

DH said shoes at the bottom and box should be breaking at the seams. My advice is to ask the CMs in the area. We got DD a potato and a pony box. The CM in the pony area packed the pony box for us. She has a system where she can fit 4 ponies and ALL costumes and accessories. We were there w/ the potato box when the other CM said we had wasted a lot of space in that box. She rearranged it for us. Then we had someone in the potato area volunteer to help us and repacked it and did a terrible job so DH had to re-do it again, following the pony area CM's suggestions.

My kids are 9 and 19, But i still go get pieces, and when friends go, i send them with pictures of all the pieces with have, so they can get me any new ones :rotfl:

Great idea about taking pictures! I will have to do that so I can be sure we don't get any duplicates. I know we need to get the Spud Trooper's shoes and Darth Tater's spud-masher arm (both were out of stock last time). I already decided that the MPH box is MY souvenir - the kids can get something else!

Just heard about the MLP and MPH areas at Once Upon a Toy....sounds very cool! We leave tomorrow and will definitely spend some time there. I see that many suggest using your own MPH and MLP and just buying the accessories, but I was wondering what size the MLP's are since they make so many now. Is it just the traditional 6"-ish pony? We've got tons so it would be fun to get some new accessories! Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is the regular 6" pony. My DD stuffed a box last time and had a ball!

I wish I had known you could ask the cm's for help. My 7 year old twins and I spent a lot of time trying to get Mary Poppins umbrella in the large potato head we bought. I finally smushed the container to accomodate the piece.:rotfl2:
Next time I shall have to stick to the boxes.

I getting so exited about starting my MPH collection! The other day we went to Kmart to start a xmas layaway for the kids and I included a MPH for myself!

DS4 is an avid MPH fan, we have about 5 bodies! I will make sure to pack a couple on our upcoming trip.

I am helping DS4 budget his B-Day money, does anyone recall what a box of parts is going for?

Thanks!

the box I believe is $20 plus tax.

Great tips everyone! We did a MLP box last trip and will plan on doing a MPH trip next trip. MPH's from Walmart are on my Christmas list. I vaguely remember having a MPH when I was a child but my kids have never had one. I've also never seen MPH at garage sales, and I've been to A LOT of garage sales.

I will say that with the MLP, we have a ton of ponies here at home so we did not get a pony, nor did we get any of the largest accessories. Without those items, we got all the smaller MLP accessories in triplicate so we have plenty to go around to compensate for those that get lost. We have a huge bin of MLP's now, hard to believe most of it came out of one very very stuffed little box from Once Upon A Toy!

Ok! I opened my MPH today! I just bought a mickey camera on ebay for him! I want to buy a bunch of parts on our trip next month. About how much do individual parts cost in WDW? Things like hats, accessories etc? :confused3

Thanks!:thumbsup2

We are going soon and I am so excited. I gave all of our kids a Santa Mr. Potato Head so they will have the fun of filling up boxes with parts they want and not have to fight over using the MPH. Plus when they play with friends, they can make their own creations without waiting around.

I think I am posting to an old post but can someone tell me approximately what size is the box that you can fill for MPH for $19.99? Sounds like fun!!
Thanks
Susan
