How many Mr. Potato Head Parts Can U fit?

How does this all work? I have seen the display but have never done it

When we were there last, in 2009, you picked your box or mr potato head container then started stuffing in as many pieces as you could. We bought the giant plastic potato head and I started shifting pieces around until I couldn't fit one more part in. It was kind of like doing a brain puzzle. Move the umbrella so you can fit some shoes on top, add extra arms here, you want that hat now? Sure I can make it fit!
My husband just watched in awe as I kept stuffing more and more in. Then we went to the my little pony area and did the same thing.

So does that mean you don't actually have to buy the potato, you can just put the bits in the box?
I thought you had to put bits in outside of the potato which was a mandatory purchase unless you wanted to pay per piece which I guess depending on how clever you were about it you wouldn't get that many in.
Did I read correctly that you can put stuff in the potato or is it just that the CM's don't check it that thoroughly?

The potato head is just another piece. It's not required. You have to put the pieces, including a potato head if you want one, inside the box. If you buy the potato head then you need to stuff it full of pieces as well or it's just wasting space/money.

But you can buy a potato head for under $10 at home so I wouldn't pay more for one at WDW. It's the pieces that are WDW specific.

The potato I was talking about was a giant plastic one about 4 times the size of a regular Potato head. We had those at home so I loaded up on Disney specific pieces I knew I couldn't get at home. Not sure if I ever counted how many parts I got in there.

The pony box was about the size of 1 1/2 bags of goldfish crackers. My DD wanted the looking glass type of mirror and a couple Mickey balloons n I had to struggle to get all of the other outfits in around those big items.

You wouldn't need to sneak anything by the CM's. It has been our experience that the CM's will shove more things in the box if they don't think you did a good enough job yourself They know the best tricks so don't be afraid to ask them for help!

I am glad this thread is going again. Has anyone been recently? Do the still have the My Little Pony accessories? What are the costs of the box for the MPH and MLP?

Anything must have pieces that are there now?

I work at this store. No, there aren't any My Little Pony stuff.

For MPH, you can get a box for $21.25 [that includes tax] or a giant head to put stuff in for $50

MPH pieces we have: donald duck bill and hat, minnie mouse, darth vader, storm trooper, tinkerbell, cruella deville, buzz lightyear and a few others i can't think of.

Very true! I empty the entire thing and re-do it and can fit like 5 more pieces in!

Actually I did not notice til we got home it must have been one on play table because it looks pretty rough not new! Thanks for any help.

If it's the same one I have here with blue green and red oblong "buttons" on one side and a bigger round red on the other side, it's basically pants. The slit should match up with the opening in mph to put on the feet.

It won't fit with shoes they both have post no hole! It's same green color as Buzz pieces. I tried to find phone # for the store but all I could find went straight to Disney and shopping/retail was closed today. Thanks for trying to help me.

Are you saying there are no more My Little Pony Stuff at WDW??? Or just at your location? Sorry to ask. My little ones are really looking forward to this. It's on our must do list and they look at the pics all the time in anticipation. Need to find out if I have to break the bad news to them. Thanks for any information.
