How many if you DVC members took advantage of the $399 premium annual pass?

We did in a roundabout way. Bought 5 APs in June and when we were there in November, we upgraded them to the PAPs and got a $27 per pass refund. We will be going again in May/June but our current PAPs will still be active. Nothing definite is planned after that so we did not buy any vouchers. Next trip after this summer may not be until 2014.

I just called to upgrade our AP which we purchased in August but CM was saying that it would b a new ticket. They could not upgrade our existing AP to PAP. We have a trip planned for July /august 2013.

Can anyone verify that the info CM gave me is correct?

Thanks

I bought our 5 a couple days ago...paid the $15 to have them mail the vouchers via FedEx...should get them in a couple days. We will be at WDW on 1/25 to activate. My TIW card is still good through our Jan trip. We are planning a trip to WDW for Xmas 2013 and will use the PAPs again but will need to buy a new TIW card. Not sure if we will make use of the water park entry.

We bought 4. :santa: I am wondering about finding out what the discounts ( ie: hotels) are before we activate them though. Doesn't appear I can do that online since I only have the confirmation number and will not activate them until October when we take the first of 3 trips planned. I would like to know about the discounts before then....any help on where to go to find AP info other than the official website. :cool1:

They don't let you upgrade from a ticket that cost more than the $399 price for the PAP. A new AP in August even with DVC disount cost $425. Some have reported being allowed to do that upgrade from AP to PAP and actually getting a refund for the difference in cost but all such reports involve members doing the upgrade at WDW where CMs at guest servives have allowed it. It has not been allowed as a phone transaction.

we bought 3 for our trip in december, a short one in may and another trip in october. we took advantage of the 20% off which was nice and dont mind it going to 10%. we were able to use about 9 gift cards at the park to make the purchase.

I bought one for DH in Dec, so he is good through Dec 2013. DD and I upgraded our APs to PAPs...and the CM did credit us the difference...so our upgrades were "free" and DH's purchase received the credit ($355). DD and I expire in June, and I didn't do certificates for us because with our next trip we'll be borrowing points from 2013 so we're letting it ride.

We purchased two - will not be able to activate until December 2013 (just in time)

We took advantage of it and bought two. Already took a couples only 5 day trip at the beginning of December, planning our family 10 day trip in May and hoping to squeeze in one more couples only in November. Would never have done that before the PAP discount. Would have simply made our May trip a 12 or 14 day stay.

We bought 3 and are not activating them until July 3rd, 2013. We plan on using them for an adult 3 day weekend in October, family Xmas 2013 and then a few days over Spring Break 2014 before and after 4 night cruise on the Magic!

I was not going to get them this year, but this deal made it seem worth it, even if it is costing me money :)

We also bought four, planning a trip for April and hopefully December, its a great deal.

We bought 4 of them. We are planning a December 2013 trip, but may sneak in a few other trips this year and activate them earlier.

We did for the three of us. DD is under three still. We had a trip over Thanksgiving, and what we would pay AAA for hoppers for the week it wasn't much more to get the PAP's. I told DH then we just need to go again within the year, and our tickets are already paid for. Now we're planning to go in June and October.

That is not true. I got our APs (that I bought with the DVC discount before the price increased) upgraded to PAPs over the phone when the offer was announced. I was given a transaction number (started with an M) that I had to take with me to guest services when we went on our trip 12/15-27 along with the cc I used so they could apply the refund to the card. I took all that to guest services at EPCOT and was given our PAPs and instead of putting the refund on my cc the CM asked if I wanted it on a GC instead and I took that option as I knew I would spend the difference. I had no troubles getting them to switch the passes over the phone whatsoever.

That is UPGRADING a pass, not ACTIVATING a new pass. The activate a new pass the poster will have to be there in person.

Since that original post from drusba was referring to UPGRADING and that was what I was responding to was the fact that I WAS able to UPGRADE my pass over the phone just as drusba said could not be done, I was refuting what he/she said based on my experience of being able to UPGRADE just as we were speaking of. No mention of ACTIVATING was being referred to in drusba nor in my post that I saw.

I also bought 2 adult PAP.....we arrive in Jan. 2013 but i had passes from UT i bought months ago....We are retired so we go to WDW 2x a year at least..
