Flights usually cost between 1600 and 2 grand for the five of us so we stay as long as possible 5-6 days. If we want to do more than DL we stay more than a week.
If I'm paying for 6 plane tickets, I'm staying as long as possible! I have always gotten the 8 day parkhopper (the longest available) since day 7 and 8 are basically free (an extra $5 for day 7). We always leave Fri or Sat and return Sun. Last time we upgraded to AP's and went an extra day - my guarantee that I can get back down there before a year is up! My friends are all speechless about our family spending that long in DL/CA, but I don't ever have enough time there. I always neglect to get the silouettes, never ride Peter Pan as much as I wanted, and I can always go for one more trip on Space Mountain! I really want to hunt for and take pics of all the Hidden Mickeys I have a list of as well. That would easily take over a day. If only I lived within driving distance!
The last time, we just did 3 days. This time we're going for 6. We don't go very often, so I want to make the most of it. It will be a special trip because my mom is flying down from Alaska to meet us too. I don't want to feel as if I have to rush to see and do everything at the park. We do not have any plans on leaving the park either, so it will be Disney every day!
Our average stay is 3 days, sometimes 2.5, sometimes 3.5, but for the most part I get a good solid 3 days out of each trip. Now if I was coming from further like a lot of the PP, I would definitely stay longer. But going for only 3 days allows me to make trips more often!
Before kids we did 3 days, then with 1 kid we moved up to 4 days and now that we have 2 kids we are at 5 days. I think we will stop at 5 though, we go during the slow season so the parks aren't usually too busy.
we do at least 5, usually M-F and travel on Saturday.
If we can leave earlier (we always drive), we sometimes add Sunday. In May we traveled super late Sunday so we were pretty tired on our first day. However, we also left Saturday around noon so we spent the morning in the park.
This coming trip we are only doing 5 days M-F. We are upgrading to AP's on Friday though, so we may start making weekend trips rather than week long get a ways. (plus, we could sneak back to the parks before we leave Saturday if we really wanted too!)
I have gone down in the afternoon, stayed the night, spent the next day in the park and driven home a few times. Sometimes 2 nights 3 days in the parks, and last time we were there for 3 nights 4 days.
Next trip will probably be a 2 day 1 night affair. Now that the kids are back in school more than that is tough
We live in Kansas and usually stay a week, flying in and out on a Saturday. We skip the parks and the crowds (except for an occasional parade or Fantasmic show) on the weekend we arrive and do other things nearby. We hit the parks bright and early on Monday morning, usually visit another attraction on Wednesday, and then spend the rest of the week in the parks. We've found this schedule to be a fun and relaxing way to take it all in and enjoy ourselves.
This year we're taking the Pacific Surfliner to San Diego and back on Wednesday so we can visit the zoo. I'm looking forward to the train ride as much as anything because I hear the scenery is fabulous.
We live in Norhern Nevada and go every Christmas for 5 days/4 nites. We are getting Ap's this time so we can hop down there for a weekend now and then. Both girls would love nothing more than to get to celebrate their bdays in DL. Heck I'm not against spending my Bday there! Nothing could make a bday better. So this may be the year of Disney for us. Numerous quick trips utilizing HOJO Ent card rates and AP rates. Might even consider taking the inlaws camper down. Depends on how desperate I am.
We usually do 2 days / 1 night. We're Ap holders & are within driving distance (appx 3 hours when the traffic is decent)
So our routine consists of getting up very early the day we go, my goal is to usually make it there about an hour before the park opens,
check in & our hotel, even though very rarely is the room ready but we grab our ART tickets & head off to get in line at the gates
We then spend all morning at the parks, head back to our room around 1-2 pm for lunch & a much needed nap. Back to the parks, til we get tired. Depending on how we feel the next day we try to get a little more DL in before we fight the traffic back home
We've been 4 times this year since getting our AP's in April..funny the traffic never bothers me going to DL probably because I'm so excited
