How many cruisers bring a cooler onboard???

I'm curious if the majority bring a cooler w/ beverages and such when they board the ship....
Does anyone just "not bother"
I really like the idea of having some "drinks of choice" in our room ~ but is it really worth it??? Is it a hassle bringing it on the ship??? I'm trying to decide which way to go........

I usually bring a bottle or so of wine or booze onboard in my carryon tote and pack a small collapsible cooler to take on shore excursions. I do not bother bringing bottled water or soda onboard because what they serve onboard is fine with me. I do like to have a drink in my room at night.

The last cruise we went on in May (RCCL) was the first time we have carried beverages on board. We brought on beer and Malibu rum (mixes well with pineapple juice!) and some margarita mix that already had the tequila in it. We were glad we did and felt like it was worth it.

We didn't bring enough beer to last the whole trip, but what we brought we were happy with.

We always bring a cooler with us. On the last cruise as we will do on the SOF we use one of our luggage tags to bring a 2.5 gallon jug of bottled water right to our stateroom.

We don't bother any more. I used to bring 6 or 12 cans of my daughter's favorite soda, but I've since found that she's reasonably happy with Diet Coke. Thus, it isn't worth the hassle to me.
The water on the ship is fine. We bring one bottle per person on board and refill it for excursions. We don't drink much alcohol, so.....

I didn't notice a lot of coolers. But big coolers (hard sided ones) aren't allowed, so it would be hard to tell. You are supposed to pack beverages in your carry on, and some parties had a lot of carry on luggage - maybe they didn't check anything or maybe they brought on a lot of booze!

Personally, I thought the minimal carryons we had were a hassle. If you board right when the ears open, it will be about an hour and a half or more before you get to your room. Plus any time you spend in the terminal. The carryons were really a hassle for that hour and a half (we had a portable DVD player we didn't check, an overpacked daybag, the camera bag, a backpack of books and stuff). Next time, fewer carryons - which means I'll be buying my rum from the bar!

(We also found most drink prices - particularly the drink of the day - to be fairly reasonable. And fruity icy cruise drinks to be worth buying over just putting some rum in some coke.)

I didn't see too many with coolers either, but I absolutely always have to pack some Mt. Dew!! Guess next time we'll have to pack some adult beverages as well

I've been going back and forth with taking a cooler. Finally, I bought a cooler "tote" from Wal Mart for $8. Made by Innoventions. It rolls up and velcros to store it, but has a zipper when it's being used. It's Pretty heavily lined too. We can use it for drinks or whatever and then put souveniers in it coming back..because our luggage is packed already and our van will be packed as well.

On our last cruise we bought the dcl coooler when we got off the ship at castaway cay. I am going to bring that this time to hold drinks and snacks for when we do our excursions.

We always bring a collapsible soft-sided cooler. This is for us to use on our onshore excursions. It really helps to be able to bring my kids' favorite drinks. Since they are not soda drinkers, I try to bring two 6-packs of apple juice onboard (apple juice is available from room service but only in glasses). And then DH and I just drink water and fill our water bottles when needed using water from the ship. We fill up large zip-loc bags with ice from deck 9 and put it in the cooler (this way it's not messy). Our drinks stay ice cold for the whole day.

For a three or four day..definately not worth it. For a 7 day..we always bring water and cooler, inside one of our larger suitcases, then use that suitcase for souveniers when we get off the ship.

I am guessing a lot of people bring coolers with wine/pop/alcohol, because there is a card in your stateroom that asks when you want ice service.

I have one of those Mickey coolers that they had at disneystore.com. We load it with cokes and the stateroom hostess always filled it with ice.

I like being able to just get a coke without having to go out to get it....

We don't bring a cooler but we do bring a box of wine and some small cans of ginger ale which I like to drink in our stateroom. We ask the room steward to keep the ice bucket full which they freshen twice a day. Otherwise we get the rest of our drinks on the ship. I'll also be bringing our CC cooler for shore excursions this time. I've been saving it since our last cruise.

Room service water is about $27-29 for a case. We just brought a case of water from home and it fit perfect it a small roller suitcase that we just checked with our regular luggage. We also packed a small soft pack that holds 4 waters in case we wanted to take it on our excursions. We filled the fridge in the room with the water bottles and our small pack and our room steward kept it filled with ice for us. The empty small roller we put our souvenirs in for the trip home. The case lasted the 3 of us all week on the 7night cruise. We will do the same thing next time. I can't see spending $27 on water!

Bill we have the same cooler! and I will definitely take it with. That's great that the room stewards keep the ice supplied.

I just bought the cooler too. I am considering taking it with me in September.

Sizing is 15'H X 14'W X 12" D can this be brought as a carry on?
