If I plug my fridge in my TT overnight, how long will it keep stuff cold. We are taking a trip to Myrtle Beach on Monday and I would like to keep drinks cold, and I have an injection for diabetes that needs to stay cold. We are about 8 1/2 hours away from MB, maybe longer since we have never towed the TT longer than 2 hours..:confused3

Your TT does not have an electric/ gas auto switch I am assuming? If not, a fully cold fridge with all of the contents already cold will keep stuff good for 24 hours if no one opens it. I say this because if we leave on a Saturday we usually plug ours in on Thursday to make sure everything is really cold because the gas does not cool as well as the electric on our model. Everything must be really cold and limit the times you get into it for cold drinks at stops on the way. I have kept insulin and other meds with cold packs for over 8 hours so you should be good:thumbsup2

Turn on your fridge 48 hours before you leave. Let it run 24 hours and then pack everything in it (after it's good and cold). Then keep it plugged up until you leave, don't open the door while traveling, and you will be okay. We used to travel from NC to FL and only turned on the gas when were stopped and had to open the door. Never had a problem. BTW, we've had three Dometics and each one has run much better on gas than electric!

If you're worried about your meds, freeze a milk carton full of water and sit in the fridge near the meds while traveling.

We found this to be true this week on our drive to D.C. from Knoxville.

If you are taking bottled drinking water anyway, you can drain a little out of each bottle then freeze them. Put them in the fridge right before you unplug and they will help keep things cold for the drive.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!! I knew I would get my answer here!!! :goodvibes

^^^^We are staying at Lakewood...not my first pick but it was all I could get being so close to the 4th of July. After reading some of the reviews I am second guessing my decision. But we used to live in MB so we will be on the go visiting places and people we used to work with and such, so basically we are just going to be using our camper for a roof over our head and a place to sleep. I doubt we will be hanging around the campground that much.

I have never stayed at lakewood, we usually stay at pirateland, but now we take our own golf cart and they don't allow them so we changed to Ocean lakes, but I have driven though lakewood and got out an looked around and I really liked it there, I thought it really looked good. I think you will be pleasantly suprised. Sometimes you can't always go by reviews ,they are really based mostly on the mood a person is in. Why do you think some people wait 45 minutes on a bus at the Ft and one family will get pived and another will be like "wee only had a 45 minutes wait" :cool1:

^^^^Most of the reviews had to do with the very religious background that they practice and that it is almost cult-like..That scares me a bit.. I dunno if they do or not it is just what I have read!!:confused3
