How long to add on points at sold out resort?

Again, confirmation--I have the wrong guide!! Didn't hear a thing ever from him. Ugh...I'm happy with the points that I have now, but it would have been nice to get them with '05 points too.

I went on the wait list for 50 BWV points on about June 27. At that time, my guide told me they would lock the price at $92 for 30 days, then the price would go up to the new price - so maybe that is the standard, but it has not been communicated well.

Luckily, I got my points within 3 weeks - so I got them at $92 and I got 2005 points that they allowed me to bank!

I got some of my points already. Wanted 120, so got 50 after one day wait, then 30 after 5 week wait. So the 5 week wait doesn't hold true to the 30 day rule. (So got my first 80 @ $92) I'm still waiting for 50 more (yes I upped it from 40 to 50). My guide said yesterday that everyone on the waitlist had to be called and asked if they want to remain on the waitlist at the new price. My guide is a Senior Guide. She was not happy at all with this last minute decision and hated having to call to give unhappy news. That would be really stinky if your guides don't call and call you when you get your points only to tell you yes you got them, but they cost more.

When I asked to be put on the wait list, I was told that the price was going up (didn't it go up on July 1?), but that they would lock the price for my points at $92 for 30 days after the price increase since I got on the waitlist when the points where $92 each. Maybe that explains the 5 weeks and still $92 for you?

Sounds like that might be the answer. We were just told that we were locking in the old price, never a mention that the lock was only 30 days. Sounds like you hit the nail on the head. Thanks!

I think that is where the change may have come in with the pricing. I think it used to be that if you went on the waitlist when the price was $X- then when the points were available - you got them at $X.

Now I think that if the price changes in the general market, it changes for waitlist people too. I know my guide tried to push SSR to "get a better deal now before the price increase" - but since we already own at BWV, we wanted to add more there. Easier for me to manage.

I do think they made a change in policy this week. I questioned my guide before getting on the waitlist before the price increase. Ie. Is the $92 locked in regardless of the time period? "Yes"

I just got my BWV points late last week so emailed to make sure everything was okay. I know very fortunate. His response was "yes you got it, $92, just in time".

And I was just over 30 days....so I would be $95 if the rule was being enforced.

I don't know but I think this change puts the guides in an awful position. If they guaranteed....well!??!??!?

Best of luck to everyone. I'm sorry about this change for those who were guaranteed regardless of the reasons .....which I'm sure have a lot to do with Disney not being able to buy back the ever increasing $$$$ BCV resales for DVC owners and make any kind of profit.

Maybe some of the guides missed the memo, "30 days only". Who knows...

I did the same thing for my BWV points (I wanted 120) and was willing to accept smaller amounts. I got 50 immediately, then 30 5 weeks later. I asked my guide about the priority list and was told that you stay at the top until you get your points. I thought like you that I might drop back down and she said no.

In my experiences...now,remember, this was last year.... I have found it very difficult to "pin down" the exact methodology of point allocation. This is even after talking directly to the "manager" of the guides. My guide is "great" and has been with DVC for 15 yrs. and here's how both he and his manager explained it to me:

Lets say there are 3 people waiting in this priority order, same UY:
1 wants 50
2 wants 100
3 wants 125

125 pts. become available (of course in the same UY).
Disney has the option of giving ALL the pts. to #3, or, breaking up the pts. between #1 & #2 ...and yes... someone else will still be waiting for 25 pts.

I don't know if this has changed, maybe it has because of ALL the complaints. I would also suggest to all of you waiting that you get on the TSS list too!! It was a suggestion, last year, made to me....from my Disney guide...YEP...Bless HIM for caring about ME and not just Disney's pocketbook!! I did that, though Disney came through first.

For those of you who dont know me... I went on the list 1/4/05 for 100 pts. I waited 11 mos.7 days and got 70 pts., then 4 weeks later got the other 30pts.

I haven't gotten the call that it wouldn't be honored, and my guide had specifically told me that the $92 would be honored whenever my points come through as long as I got on the waitlist before July 1.
