How long do you wear the button?

When my wife and I went last year, we wore the anniversary buttons the whole 6 days. On my birthday, I only wore the birthday button that day.

To me, an anniversary is about a couple, spend the whole week celebrating it. A birthday is just about you, so I only spend the one day bringing the attention to myself.

We wore our 'Just Married' buttons throughout our whole trip...We have Bride and Groom ears too, but after 3 days or so, they got old.

The best part of wearing those pins and ears is all the FREE FREE FREE stuff you get!! I don't know if it works the same for birthdays, but for newlyweds, we were constantly getting free drinks, free desserts, coffee, etc....And not to be cheap, but a Disney vacation is expensive enough, so I say WORK THAT PIN, boys and girls!!!!

DS12 wore his pin for probably 7-8 of the 10 days we were there. This was his b-day gift so let him enjoy it was our thinking. He received plenty of happy birthdays, good wishes and kindness. nothing else. He loved having some of the attention and it was great. I say wear it for the duration.

Last trip was during my Birthday, I only wore the button that day. One day when a CM was checking my bag he pulled out my Birthday Pin and said, "why aren't you wearing this?" I told him my BD was 2 days ago. He said "When you come to Disney World it's every day PUT IT ON!!" He made me put it on right there. He was very sweet!

Is it wrong to continue wearing the button once home?!?!?!

When DH & I went a few weekends before our anniversary we got the buttons because it was for all purposes an anniversary present to each other. When we go in December we will finally be there ON my birthday. Usually we are leaving a day or few days before my birthday so this is a huge deal to me. As of now I plan on wearing my button on the day of my birthday and possibly the entire trip because I am just that excited to be there on my birthday.

Who cares how long you wear the button as long as it is making you happy. I've seen people with multiple buttons on and don't see why it would be a big deal. This past March we went and my kids saw the CMs at the button kiosk and wanted buttons so bad. We didn't really have anything that we were celebrating so the CMs wrote on the kids' buttons that they were celebrating "Coming back" and "Having fun". Made my kids' day!

I have tried to plan a Disney vacation the week of my birthday for several years and it never worked out. This year I turn 50 and we have our Disney vacation planned for that very week. We plan to go to the MK on my actual birthday and I will wear my button. I might be so happy to be at WDW that I may wear it every day after that til the end of the trip. I worked hard to earn this birthday vacation and I can't wait to celebrate it at Disney.

Our first day in the parks is my 21st birthday - so I'll obviously wear it that day, the next day we're planning to be at universal studios, the day after in Hollywood Studios - so i think i might wear my pin that day then for the rest of the trip ill leave it.

For the most part im so excited for this birthday trip (my boyfriends taking me there for my bday) i don't want birthday excitement to be gone in one short day!!

When we went in April 08 for our anniversary trip (actual anniversary in June, and we let them know that), the CM giving us our pins told us to wear them the entire week. This year, we are going for my birthday (it actually falls while we are there), and I will wear by pin the entire week. When making ADR's, I only added my bday celebration to the ADR's that fall on my bday, but when I called to add the GF tea, the CM on the phone said she was adding the celebration to all of my ADR's, and when I called to book the Behind the Seeds tour for Nov. 13 (4 days after my bday), she added to that. I guess it came up in her system. So since Disney is encouraging me to celebrate all week, I will celebrate by wearing my button. Like other PP's, I do not expect anything at all....even a Happy Bday from a cast member or another guest makes my day!

It kind of depends on whether the entire trip is in celebration or just happens to fall during that trip. In 2005 we were there over DHs birthday. He wore his birthday pin on that day only. This year, we are going to celebrate our 10th anniversary; we may just wear it the day of, or the entire trip. I plan on taking our kids for their 10th birthdays (just a weekend for them and mom) and I wouldn't have a problem with them wearing the birthday button the whole trip; that's their present.

our May trip was to celebrate DH's birthday...we arrived on Saturday, but his birthday was 4 days later. However, when we checked in, the CM gave him the Birthday button & told him to where it "all week, everywhere! You're here to celebrate, right." And he did...absolutely loved hearing Happy Birthday everywhere he went.

As for freebies, mostly it's just well wishes you get, and that's plenty fun. Like a previous poster mentioned, it's like being a celebrity all week - everyone you see "knows" you because of your button.

...we were on the dining plan, so free desserts would kind of be overkill, lol. Although 1900 Park Fare actually did bring him a special Mickey Cupcake (after he'd stuffed himself at the buffet dessert station, of course.) Other than that, all week long they brought his dessert out with a lit candle on it (even when he ordered ice cream) Some places, the staff sang happy birthday.

well since DH and I just got married in Feb and havn't been back to the world, I'm getting 'Just Married' buttons and we will wear them half the week.

Then I'm getting Anniversary buttons in honor of our 1st anniverssay (2/2010) b/c we won't be back until (the week) after then and we will wear those a couple days.

Then I'm getting a Bday pin for DH since we missed his Bday in May and I will make him wear it a day or two.

Oh but the first day I'm getting a "1st Time" button to wear b/c technically this will be my first time as Mrs. R.

I'm glad to hear these replies because I was going back and forth about adding celebrations to the reserv. since they weren't happening right now. DH & I celebrated 15 yr Anniv. end of June and DD turned 6 end of July, but our trip is coming up in about a week. I thought maybe I'd add her celebration to the princess meal, and ours to Tony's - the whole trip is a surprise to the kids, so this would be another for DD, and I could surprise DH w/other - if they do anything!

We usually go on our birthdays in February and we only wear our buttons on the actual day. I would feel odd getting birthday salutations and free treats when it wasn't really my day YMMV.

We wore our Happily Ever After and Just Married buttons for our whole Honeymoon. DH wore his first visit button everyday.
We were going to get I'm Celebrating buttons in July, but we never got around to it.
If we get to plan another trip for December I'm pretty sure DH will wear his birthday button everyday (he loves buttons) Plus I think we're making that our Anniversary trip.
They've planned for people wearing their buttons all the time. It's not like wearing a button when it's not actually the occasion will set Disney back that much, especially this year.

That's what we did....the CM's we spoke to made it clear that it was absolutely okay and told us to wear it all week.

I wore my birthday button the whole week.

When I turned 40, I started celebrating my birthday for a week.
When I turned 50, I turned it into a month long celebration.

So yes a controversially subject, but how long to you guys wear the "birthday, anniversary, wedding" buttons? I swear I saw the same person wearing her birthday button two days in a row! Maybe everyday is her birthday But really, I've always wondered if you go for your birthday and just end up wearing it the whole time. Or maybe it's your anniversary but the whole trip you like to wear it since the trip is more of an anniversary to you both. So tell me, what do you do?

My thoughts exactly. Especially after I saw a little girl witha button. The bus driver said Happy Birthday to her, and she just gave him a blank stare back. Then she rolled her eyes at mom after. It was just a guess, but I suspected mom made her wear it after her birthday to see if they could get some extra freebies....

Personally, I might wear it for just a birthday/anniversary dinner, maybe ONE whole day, or maybe just skip it. I think anything beyond one day is too long.
