I've last stayed at All Star Music four years ago, and I don't know what to expect at POR.

POR is our favorite resort!! I can't wait to be back there in 14 days:woohoo: The landscaping is beautiful. It is a very relaxing resort. My kids love the main pool, and there are also 5 quiet pools scattered throughout the resort. The boat to DTD is a wonderful perk. You will love POR!:goodvibes

It has been a few years since we stayed there but our family really enjoyed it with no complaints! We found it to be a very laid back, quiet, relaxed and beautiful resort. At the time you could rent cane fishing poles and bait for about $3 and take the kids to fish in a little secluded area of water. Because of being so busy at the parks and pool we never found the time to do that, but I thought it really fit In with the character of the resort. We loved the old man river Tom Sawyer thing. We would stay there again.

You will love it. We just returned from there recently. Check out our trip report below!

We will be there 17-23.

This is the exact question I was going to ask on here. I booked this hotel for us Dec 26 to Jan 1 and this is one resort I don't know much about. Here's the big question- what should I suggest as a room/ which "building?". I want close to the bus stops, but are they as nice as the rest? Got any pictures besides of the double beds inside the rooms? That's all I found so far. How's the pool? Should I stay somewhere else with our 3 year old? Will he like it there?

DF and I are debating whether to book our Disneymoon at POFQ or POR. Are any of the quiet pools "adults only"?

This resort is really beautiful and one of our favorites. The grounds are very beautifully landscaped, it has a great main pool, wonderful sit down restaurant (Boatwright's), good choices for counter service, can take a horse drawn carriage ride at night, can rent a cane pole to go fishing, nice playground, and you can hop a boat to go to DTD if you wish. There are numerous quiet pools but I do not believe that any of them are "adult only". Every night after getting back from a day at the parks we'd put the kids in the stroller and do a nice quiet walk around the grounds as a way for everyone to wind down. We usually stay in the Alligator Bayou section as opposed to Magnolia Bend because it is a little more 'rustic' and seems to be a little more quiet.

Two thumbs up for this resort. My only minor complaint is that one time we decided to reserve a "water view" room and that consisted of being on the side of the building that faced a quiet pool but we couldn't see the pool from our room. If we hadn't had a ground level room we would have been able to see it but it what we had wasn't worth the upgraded room.

Its pretty cool and VERY relaxing its a great place to stay if your looking for the relaxing setting to your resort its one of our favorites:thumbsup2

This resort makes me feel like I am in a Tom Sawyer story. I have my coffee each morning sitting outside gazing at the Sassagoula River, and tell DH, "you can just leave me right here for the whole trip and I will be very content". It is simply stunning, beautifully laid out, with so much to see and do. We always request the Mansion side as that's more appealing to me. I love to walk around the whole resort, and to stroll along the river to FQ. I love to admire the gorgeous buildings and note the genius with which they are designed-- in a real progression as you leave the "city" and head along the river to the "bayou"-- be sure to note the changes in building materials, landscaping, etc. Supposedly the builders ran out of citified materials like iron for the railings.... Look for the details in the sidewalks too. That's why I love WDW-- the details.

There is great family entertainment in the bar Wed-Sat nights with Piano Bob.

DS adores taking a boat out for a cruise down the river. You get a neat view of some of the other resorts on the river, including the funky treehouses. He enjoyed the fishing hole last year- but that is only open in the morning.

This year we got to check out the campfire which is held on Tues and Thurs eves in the winter months and seems to be a not well known. It was a lot of fun- we roasted marshmallows and played "Stump the CM" with Disney trivia.

Look for me, I'll have an orange Baggallini and 3 kiddos DS14, DD11, and DD9 and last but certainly not least my DH :rotfl:

I'll be there 2 weeks later, I have the beige Baggallini-in case I make my dh wear it. I hope they have the camp fires in April yet, that would be so cool.

We stayed at POR (Dixie Landings, back then) for our honeymoon. We had a wonderful stay. We could see one of the quiet pools from our room and swam in it on several evenings. Although it wasn't adults only, it was practically empty. I think most of the kids prefer the themed pool. :)

Enjoy your honeymoon, wherever you choose to stay!

Piratekitty, my husband and I stayed at POR this past October for my 40th birthday. We went for a long weekend WITHOUT the kids. It was so laid back and romantic. Our room was located just outside of a quiet pool. Couldn't have asked for a better location. We were away from the noise of the main pool. I hope you have a wonderful time there on your Disneymoon!!!

We stayed at POR this past August. I can't say enough nice things about this resort. We had no trouble with the buses (that's just luck anyway), I enjoyed the landscaping. The absolute best thing about this resort is the homey food court. We would come back after a long day at the parks and just hang out in the food court talking about the day, eating, drinking, etc. I would look around and see lots of other guests doing the same thing. It was like people hanging out at the kitchen table just talking, laughing, eating, and really connecting. It was really very magical watching all the families, couples, etc. enjoying each other's company. Anybody else notice this at the POR food court?

just back from a great time. I definitely would stay there again! we stayed in the AB section. was nice and quiet I thought. we loved the resort grounds. I wish we had more time to just hang out there. last night the Piano Guy "bob" packed them in. we had one awesome time with the kids hanging out and singing along with him- He truly is a asset to the resort. the only complaint that we had, along with others- was what is up with the transportation????? there was one bus last night to take people to epcot for both port orleans resorts. not too many happy wet people waiting in line for the bus to arrive.. the night before to the princess party it was only a short wait and only 1 resort. cant say if they share for mgm since I drove over this am and left from there for home. It was like a 5' drive for me.. The boat captain on friday was nice also when we took the boat over to DTD. all in all another happy trip to Disney...

We just got back from POR, and were generally pleased. We were there during President's Day week, so it was mighty crowded. Beware that the Riverside Mill Food Court is (or was) closed for renovations. They have limited service for B L & D, which is adequate, but boring. It was a one-choice buffet kind of thing. Boatwright's was booked solid.

We have stayed at CBR twice and POR once, the rooms are basically the same, just decorated differently, but they are a step up from the value resorts. Also, the shuttle bus has only 4 stops for the whole resort and we found outselves in a room a good distance from the nearest stop. To top it off, the bus stops at MK and MGM to return to the resort are all the way at the end of the stations, a long walk at the end of the day.

Hope that helps.
