How is a Disney Trip Like a Writing Desk: A PTR through Wonderland UPDATED: 9/18/10

Look at you with your mega long update! :lmao: I love it!

I was wondering about the new job, how cool! :firefight

Those are the cutest little tissues ever. I always scope at Target travel section and I haven't seen them. Must look again.

Your family looks sweet, not dysfunctional. :goodvibes

When I first saw the top of these tissues I thought you had posted a pictures of Always (the greenish packaging looked similar). I thought, wow...she really will take a picture of EVERYTHING. :rotfl:

:lmao:

No, I'll spare you that!

Your brother is such a cutie! But man, I'd look like the 50' woman standing next to his fiancé -- I'm 6'. And I thought my MIL was tiny (she's 5').

He's about 5'10". Sometimes when they go to restaurants and the hostess isn't paying attention they give her a children's menu!

Oh, and love the Hallmark sign. You have great taste! ;)

I thought you'd think so! LOL I also had my eye on a Cinderella one about miracles. I'm very tempted to go back and get that one.

If not I'm happy to offer the same for you as I did for LegoMom. Let me know and I'll try to pick a pack or two up and send them to you.

Thanks. Looks can be deceiving. :lmao:

I'm pretty sure that men are immune to all things shoes. I don't think there is any help for that.

I have this theory...well...I have lots of theories...but I believe that the fundamental difference between men and women can be understood in how we think about shoes.

For men...their shoe needs come down to two things...comfort and functionality. This is why we only require about 5-10 pairs of shoes. (Sneakers, work boots, sandals, dress shoes, dock-siders.) It is also why we don't understand why women need so many shoes.

For women...comfort and functionality are on the list, but tend to be way low on the list. For women, it's about color, it's about style, it's about pairing (matching shoes with outfits), it's about the way the shoes make you FEEL..classier, more alluring, sexier...it's about how your other perceive you, it's about impressing your friends. There's probably a dozen more that I can't even grasp. And to women, these are ALL as important as fit and comfort.

So, I think..as a guy...if we can understand this...maybe it just comes down to "men and simple" and "women are complicated"...but it really think it can help us understand eachother and our way or reasoning. Neither is better or worse, but it just is.

Of course, I'm a guy....I could just be full of s&!t.

Ahhh, Pete, Pete, Pete...that, as a man, you would even breach the shoe subject? I salute you.

And as not just your run-of-the-mill shoe-loving female but a woman whose happiness in life can be affected by finding the "perfect" pair, a few comments:

For women...comfort and functionality are on the list, but tend to be way low on the list.

These two items are only on my list if all other criteria are met. Also, they are not even considered if a pair of shoes "grabs" me and forces me to involuntarily cry out, "OHMYGODSERIOUSLYTHELORDMADETHOSESHOESJUSTFORME!"

it's about the way the shoes make you FEEL..classier, more alluring, sexier...

Hit the nail on the head there with that one. Hence the desire for almost every woman to own a pair of 5" red patent leather stacked heels...even if she can't stand in them.

There's probably a dozen more that I can't even grasp.

Only a dozen?
:sad2:
Oh, Pete.
The criteria a shoe needs to meet for a woman's closet will vary based on the woman and may in fact require an index.

;)

"women are complicated"

We prefer "multifaceted".
It sounds more like a diamond.

Of course, I'm a guy....I could just be full of s&!t.

Not at all! I commend you for "going there". LOL It was insightful and I enjoyed it. My BF has stopped trying to understand the reasoning behind my NEED for certain shoes...any shoes...and has simply decided the only thing he needs to know is whether or not he needs to fund the purchase.

:lmao: I've never heard that one before! I guess it depends on how annoyed we men are with you at the time, but I'll go with "multifaceted"!

BTW, I'm glad to see your DBF is getting into Disney...hopefully he won't get TOO into it and you lose your girls-only trips! (I would have a very hard time letting DW go to WDW without me - while I have been encouraging her to go on a girls-only trip, she better not choose there!)

Peachy update, Tink!! I'm in LOVE with the travel aisle too; can't seem to keep my hands to myself in there.

So happy for DBF! That's fabulous! He can celebrate with a pink party ticket! I imagine if he gets the job, he can find all kinds of great ways to celebrate! Perhaps another trip?!! :rolleyes1

S.P.- BINGO!!

Can I just say how jealous of every woman who can wear just about any show? It's one of my greatest miseries that thanks to genetics and years of ballet I have a D width foot with a high instep. It has put me forever on the hunt for cute shoes that I can still manage to get my foot into.

I've always said that if I came across a genie that would grant me one wish it would be for size 7B feet. I'll live with the instep if I have to.

I'd be VERY surprised if he ever became into it to that degree. And even if he did he and I are VERY independent and tend to do lots of things without the other and so my guess is, he wouldn't mind TOO much, as long as I was still going with him the most often.

I'm not pretending the thought hasn't crossed my mind!

In reality, though, I'd like for him to 'celebrate' with a new car. He drives a clunker, and always has, and there are a few trucks I know he'd be dying to take a look at.

OH HONEY.

How horrible for you. :sad1:

I have a wider foot, but it's not too much so, and have an instep that's probably slightly higher than normal (also thanks to ballet) and I'm a size 8.5-9 depending on the maker.

This makes me want to just kidnap you and make off to every shoe store we can find until we find the PERFECT shoes for you!

...to announce ANOTHER SOUTHWEST CREDIT!

:woohoo:

I happened to meander on over to the SW website today as I'd finally decided to bite the bullet and buy the Early Bird Check-In (EBCI) for our return flight. I just don't want to have to think about it. At all. We don't really need it for our flight down since I'm off the day before we leave.

So there I am, poking around, and I happen to simultaneously get an e-mail from SW saying they've released promos for "fall bookings".

They're always releasing something for sometime for some reason, it seems.

But, because we're flying out on the first non-stop flight of the day (it was the first flight but they added a 1-stop flight scheduled to leave about a half hour before ours) to Orlando and the last flight of the day back, the 'deals' rarely apply to us.

This is one of those times I didn't mind being proven wrong.

Lo and behold, what do I find? Our return fare has dropped to $89/ticket!!!

So, let me sum up for you...

Original Cost of RT airfare for two adults: $644.80
First Price Drop - Flight out of Providence: -$66.00
Second Price Drop - Flight out of Orlando: -$110.00
Total Actual Cost of RT airfare for two adults: $468.80

That's only $234.40 per person! :teacher: And no Fuzzy Disney Math required!

(Yes, it's sad that I'm excited about this price given there was a time it was less than $100 RT per person but Holy Savings Batman!)

We'll probably save that $176.00 to put towards another trip to see BF's grandparents in TN. We've already been talking about going again, but flying instead of driving. This will make it that much more doable. Much like everything else in our life, 'real' discussions about when we could do this will hinge on how the job situation turns out for BF but it's now more on our radar than ever!

I did also add the EBCI for the whopping total of $20. (Heidi, you were right, you can't use credits for this.)

So, my advice is, if you're booked with SW or are booking with SW or are even considering booking with SW for anytime 9/7/10-12/14/10, mosey on over to the site and see if they have any savings for YOU!

You are now be returned to your regularly scheduled programming...

:flower3:

I am so happy that you were able to save more money on your trip. I was excited when I saw that email too. I was hoping that our flights would have dropped but sale is not for flights on Sunday. We are not able to fly any other day but Sunday. I asked my dh if wanted to come back on Sat instead of Sunday and he said no.:scared1: I was shocked he said he didn't mind paying more. I didn't argue with him.

I love saving money!! WOOT WOOT!! I will be flying SW for the first time in January and I can't wait!! Everyone I talk to seems to really like the airline!

I actually end up doing most of my shoe shopping online. Thank goodness for Zappos and free return shipping. Shopping in shoe stores just became too futile, although I will say that there is more out there than there used to be.

Congrats on the airfare savings, that's great!

Congrats on the fare cut! I checked for our flights in October, but I'm in the same boat as pooh's mate with Thursday and Sunday flights. The prices now for my flights are actually MORE than they were when I booked them. Though....I suppose that could be considered savings in a backwards-thinking kinda way, right?!;)

I am not a shoe fanatic but I do love my DSW. Rarely walk out of there without a couple of purchases.....

And. Your mother. OMG she does look young. But even worse. She's turning 50 this year?!?! Most of my friends are 50+. I'm not 50 quite yet, but I am obviously old enough to be your mother. And I am just a little bit horrified about that. I am always forgetting how old I am. It stinks :sad2:

Wow, congrats on the additional SWA credits. Don't you love that?

He's about 5'10". Sometimes when they go to restaurants and the hostess isn't paying attention they give her a children's menu!

Ha! I always call my MIL a little person or little woman. I know, I know...I'm evil.

I thought you'd think so! LOL I also had my eye on a Cinderella one about miracles. I'm very tempted to go back and get that one.

Ooh, me too! I had to run out of there. Otherwise, I would've bought them all.

Tink I was just checking it to be sure that you hadn't received a call from Disney about overbooking at POP. I saw on another thread that they had some kind of computer issue and ended up over-booking 400 rooms or something like that, and were bumping people over the the All Stars. :scared1: I't seemed to be happening to people leaving in the next week or so, but I thought of you anyways. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that your fine.

:scared1:That is a lot of rooms to overbook.:scared1:
I hope that none of our Dis friends end up over there.
