How is a Disney Trip Like a Writing Desk: A PTR through Wonderland UPDATED: 9/18/10

Everyone? Everyone.

Um. Bad news.

The Mayans were wrong. The world isn't ending in 2012, it's ending MUCH sooner than that.

What? How do I know?

::ahem::

BF: "I dunno. Maybe if I get this job DVC is something we should look into."

:faint:

WOOT WOOT!!! Boy has BF done a 180 that is awesome!!!! DVC is something on our to do list in the next two years here in our household!! It is fun to think about! LOL!

BF: "I dunno. Maybe if I get this job DVC is something we should look into."

:faint:

I told my dh to call him. You can thank me later.

(BTW--until May 29, when we walked back on Disney soil, dh said, "Disney will never get another penny of my money." Friday he forked the deposit over. They can be trained.)

Loved this last installment, Tink. The re-cap of the future in past tense in the present was awesome, too!;)

I am with ya on FOTLK, as well. See, there are more of us than you'd think! It's a great show but I feel no need to see it over and over and over again. I have only seen Nemo once, though, and loved it, so I would definitely put that one first in line.

Flights of Wonder? Um, no. This girl has serious bird phobias and aversions. I'm sure it's beautiful and amazing but I get the willies just thinking about it.

I will second TK's suggestion of GF Cafe. It's comparable to Kona, and I'm sure BF could find something he'd like there. Plus it's right on the monorail, and no characters!

DVC...wow! You are definitely putting something in his food, right? I will say, though, it's a great move and makes it SO much easier to justify (if not REQUIRE) those WDW visits.....DO IT! Still crossing everything that this job comes through for you guys!

Seriously, what have you been doing to your BF??! He's talking about DVC now? ::picks jaw off floor:: Amazing! Hope the job works out -- sending lots of good thoughts your way.

P.S. Willing to share some of that stuff you've been slipping in BF's food/drink/whatever? DH could certainly use some of it.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:::snortlaugh:: When I read that post by TK, all I could think was wow, your poor DH will be sleeping alone a lot!

Or next to an incessantly talking Jack Sparrow. :rotfl:

Hmmm..Yachtsman and Jellyrolls sounds like a great way to end the evening!! You will find something at Yachtsman that you will love and the desserts there are amazing LOL!!!!

Yeah, I'm pretty enamored with the menu. Looks like it's going to be a nice use of the extra credits.

Aww, my DS says the same thing every time he sees a Disney commercial, or any other time it occurs to him. DH tells him we need money, and DS says, "I have money in my piggy bank! I can get some so we can all go!" If only that were enough. :rotfl2:

Awww. :lovestruc

Please. You doubt my skills?

Honey, if you can turn me into Calypso without the need for me to dred my own hair out, I'll BUY your MNSSHP ticket!

I don't know where to start. I've spent the past hour laughing over and over. THe family ignoring, the dog huffing off and leaving.

BF doesn't even ask anymore. LOL

Oh, and you have yellow tights and a plaid skirt?

Pray tell, dear one!

:lmao:

You know, I don't even remember how this joke started, but now whenever certain people ride SSE, they liken me to a tall, African American woman in retro gear and a lab coat.

You know I clicked on that link and sang right along, right? :hyper: Love it! Now I'm thinking I must YouTube it for DS. ::yes::

I'm trying not to think about it. I'll be singing it all day!

You have been putting pixie dust in the Kool-Aid, I knew it!
:tinker:

I need to experiment to see if it also works on the part of his brain that controls the shoe-buying process...

We are going to have to start investigating you Tink!! What are you doing to that poor man? :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I dunno, but when I figure it out would you like instructions for Marc? :rotfl:

What a very smart man you have there!

Smart or brainwashed. I haven't decided which.

Added pixie dust for BF getting the job!!! :wizard:

Wouldn't that DVC membership be nice?

It would but the job itself would be nicer, really. We'll still need to do some Fuzzy Disney Math to figure out DVC and we should really buy a house first but mostly I want his dreams to come true and that's what this job would mean. :goodvibes

Boy has BF done a 180 that is awesome!!!!

Let's just cross our fingers that it doesn't become a 360!

I told my dh to call him. You can thank me later.

I'll keep an eye on the caller ID.

Flights of Wonder? Um, no. This girl has serious bird phobias and aversions. I'm sure it's beautiful and amazing but I get the willies just thinking about it.

You and LL with the bird thing. :confused3 :goodvibes

I will second TK's suggestion of GF Cafe. It's comparable to Kona, and I'm sure BF could find something he'd like there. Plus it's right on the monorail, and no characters!

Yeah, I mentioned it. He was, "Eh." We'll stick with the CS for now. I'm not overly worried about it. But thanks for the recommendation! :thumbsup2

DVC...wow! You are definitely putting something in his food, right? I will say, though, it's a great move and makes it SO much easier to justify (if not REQUIRE) those WDW visits.....DO IT! Still crossing everything that this job comes through for you guys!

Thanks. :goodvibes

Seriously, what have you been doing to your BF??! He's talking about DVC now? :: picks jaw off floor:: Amazing!

No one was more surprised than me.

Hope the job works out -- sending lots of good thoughts your way.

Thanks much!

P.S. Willing to share some of that stuff you've been slipping in BF's food/drink/whatever? DH could certainly use some of it.

Oh honey, once I figure it out I'm patenting it and selling it on the DIS! :rotfl:

"How's *this* for muchness?" ~ Alice Kingsley

Before I post about our next day in the World (RE: I'm putting it off because we're getting closer and closer to the end... :sad1: ), I wanted to post about some altogether random trip and non-trip related stuff.

Item of Business: #1

Confessions of an Obsessive-Compulsive Overpacker/Planner

We're 42 days from our trip.
I'm ready to pack.
:sad2:
While I don't have a 'Disney Box', most of my trip stuff is nestled atop my suitcase, which I've decided I'm probably pulling out from it's corner next weekend.

I know, I know, way early, but you know what I learned? If I don't I will end up running around with my panties all in a bunch the day before we leave terrified that I've forgotten something.

And you're welcome for that visual.

So, in addition to constructing the most detailed and complete packing list in the history of Overpackers/Planners Anonymous (of which we're ALL card-carrying members), I'm also packing as much as humanly possible in the next couple of weeks. The weekend before we leave I've jammed in all of the appointments I need out of the way before we go: nails, hair, massage (it's a necessity ::yes:: ), therapy (also a necessity), etc. I also plan on doing all my laundry that weekend and putting aside all of my trip outfits.

Part of putting together that packing list included picking up some missing items I'm missing that I won't need until the trip. So, I visited Target this weekend (I heart Tarjay) and checked all the items off that list.

And since we're all picture-happy Disney freaks that are willing to share images of our toiletries:

DSCN3001.jpg

Just a small selection.

Oh, and may I draw your attention to a particular item perched atop our 1 gallon baggies...

DSCN2999.jpg

I'm sorry but is this not the cutest travel pack of tissues ever? They also had Jessie. Want your own? Target travel section.

Item of Business: B

"Of course I'm going to write it down. I have an entire internet forum to inform of every waking moment of our trip."

BF may not understand the need for a trip journal. Or food p0rn. But I will edumacate him.

Here is this trip's journal:

DSCN2992.jpg

I got it cheapy-cheap at Borders because the little elastic strap that goes around it is insanely loose. I have no need for said strap. I'll likely snip it off. I got it because it makes me think of the Queen of Hearts.

And speaking of journals...look at this beauty:

DSCN2993.jpg

(Not sure what happened with the resize on this one.)

I'm saving this one for something a little more special than trip notes...though I have no idea what! LOL Actually, I'm hoping to quit my current job in about 5 years so I can write full time and work part time. Maybe this is a good outlet for my story ideas. The quote certainly fits. :goodvibes

Item Number III

Or, I know I didn't need that. But I NEEDED it.

Ladies, you know EXACTLY what this means. And gentlemen? You know how your TV works fine but every time you walk into Best Buy that Sony flat screen starts talking to you in that voice only YOU can hear? Same thing.

DSCN2994.jpg

Yes, I too visited Hallmark to peruse their Disney plaques. Let me tell you I had FOUR in my hands. I made myself put three of them back. Then I cried for a little while. When the hissy fit was over I decided on this one. It now sits on my desk as a little Disney in every day.

Item the Fifth

Disney mail is the BEST mail.

Well, well, well, looky what showed up in my mailbox on Saturday!

DSCN2991.jpg

No, they're not park tickets, they're our MNSSHP tickets.

I was a little disappointed with the design. Our '08 tickets weren't exactly Halloween themed but they also weren't generic pink and purple either. Eh, whatever, they get us into the par-tay, right?

I think I'm going to make BF use the pink one. ;)

Thing That Comes After That Last Thing

We said good-bye to my brother for 4 months on Saturday with a little shindig at his house. His new job requires two months of training in NM followed by another two months in Atlantic City. We'll get him back sometime just before Christmas. This job is a huge accomplishment and we're SO proud of him but I'm still going to miss him. We couldn't stand each other for about 16 years and now we're best friends. Some highlights from the party:

Me and the Boy

DSCN2976.jpg

Ok, this is really more like it...WHY won't this resize?!?! Photobucket, you fiend.

DSCN2978.jpg

BF (who forgot how to smile, apparenty) and the Boy

A Boy and his dog, Jackson (a.k.a. Satan hath paws)

The Boy and my SIL-to-Be (who is 4'7")

The Family: Dad, Cody, the Boy, Me, Mom (And yes, we're as dysfunctional as we look).

The Last Thing

A quick update on the job situation for BF...

HE LANDED AN INTERVIEW!!!

I simply can't explain to you how proud I am of my man. There are 45 positions available and 90 applicants. His interview is this Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Please keep him in your thoughts. We're crossing our fingers, our toes, the cats' fingers and toes...

I haven't been too descriptive about the job or anything because I'm afraid I might jinx it so I won't go into details about what the job entails or what kinds of changes it means for us. Instead I will only give you this:

:firefight

UP NEXT: Attack of the 50' Woman, and other Classics.

Do you got to the party ON Halloween?
::yes:: This will be our third year in a row! I'm making the most of it because I fear our Not So Scary days are coming to an end... Leo wants to be something more ghoulish this year. Something tells me Halloween is about to get a whole lot scarier in the future. :sad1:

And gentlemen? You know how your TV works fine but every time you walk into Best Buy that Sony flat screen starts talking to you in that voice only YOU can hear?
:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Funniest part is that that's ME! The TVs speak to me at Target, too. ::yes::

Fantastic! Crossing my fingers for you guys! :wizard:

I need to experiment to see if it also works on the part of his brain that controls the shoe-buying process...

I'm pretty sure that men are immune to all things shoes. I don't think there is any help for that.

Way too cute!

Well, well, well, looky what showed up in my mailbox on Saturday!

I hate that they don't have nice Halloween themed tickets. I'm even sadder that I don't get to have mine sent to me before hand this trip. Boo!

Do all brothers know how to torture their sisters like this? I swear they learn that at birth.

You know, I bought a neat little notebook for my solo, as a trip/travel/planner thingy. But I never could figure out what to do with it! It was perfect, too....same colors as those dear little aliens up there. Still have it. Not sure what to do with it!:confused3

The last thing.....how sad. How very un-muchiness.

But VERY happy for the BF!!

.

::yes:: This will be our third year in a row! I'm making the most of it because I fear our Not So Scary days are coming to an end... Leo wants to be something more ghoulish this year. Something tells me Halloween is about to get a whole lot scarier in the future. :sad1:

Like kittens, they should just stay tiny and fluffy. Okay, maybe not fluffy, but you get my drift.

::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Funniest part is that that's ME! The TVs speak to me at Target, too. ::yes::

I have this problem with laptops. I always NEED a new one. Like this weekend when my SIL-to-be showed me the one my brother bought for her (because he's taking their older one with him). It's a little HP netbook...and it's PINK PLAID.

It spoke to me, "Tinkerbellarella...wouldn't I look cute in your purse?!"

It's evil, evil I tell you!

I'm pretty sure that men are immune to all things shoes. I don't think there is any help for that.

I used to HATE BF's shoes. And he wouldn't buy the ones I 'recommended'. So I bought them for him. All $80 of them from Aldo. Now he won't wear anything else.

Do all brothers know how to torture their sisters like this? I swear they learn that at birth.

Seriously. Dude. He's a pain in my...well, you know. It used to make me want to break him (specifically his fingers...but I only tried once...ahem) but now it mostly makes me laugh. And punch him a little.

I'll be keeping all things possible crossed for you guys.

:goodvibes

And I *heart* travel toiletries.....Just somethin' about 'em! Makes me wanna GO somewhere!!

You wouldn't believe the collection I used to have before 'The Great Purge of 2010'. Ri.Dic.U.Lous.

Do you know much I love this???!:lovestruc Tar-jay travel section, here I come!!!

If you can't find them let me know. I'll go grab some and mail them to ya!

Dude, that's your MOM on the end???!!!...... Looks like your sister! (because she looks young, not because you look older!!)

Yeah. That's my mom. She'd kill me for posting this but she's turning 50 this year. She still gets carded from time to time and when we go out shopping people assume we're sisters. I can only pray I have skin like hers.

First of all congrats to BF!! I will definitely be sending pixie dust and keeping my fingers crossed for him!!!! He is going to do great!!!

Love the travel section of Tarjay LOL and loved the pictures!!!!! Great stuff!!! I love that your are starting your packing!

What a very fun update! Your trip journal is very cute. Are you actually very good and write real notes? Or do you do it well for a couple days and then it sits empty? :rolleyes1 I try, EVERY SINGLE TRIP, but I start out strong and fizzle on Day 3. Now I just try to write little tidbits - funny stuff/interesting stuff, that I don't have photographed so it helps jog the memory a bit.

I laughed out loud at you making BF use the pink ticket. It reminded me of a story with us...a year ago when we had APs Joe dreaded which he will get, he wanted a "manly" one...he got...Minnie. :lmao: I laughed and laughed. In spite of it all he kept the Minnie! Of course next trip he "forgot" his AP and had to get a new one. I hoped and hoped for a Minnie, but he was quite happy with his new Donald.

Great family pictures! And I have to agree, your Mom looks like your sister!!! She looks fantastic!!

And :yay: for BF!!!! Keeping bodily appendages crossed!

Truthfully, the only thing holding me back from planning a trip right now is airfare. If it dropped at all, I'd seriously consider a long weekend to do an MNSSHP. As it stands now, however, that's a distant dream.

Airfare is a killer for us too - last time we paid $330 pp rt - and that was the sale price! The 5+ hour flight back also scares me with a baby & toddler. But we got some disney visa mail today, and I think I've convinced DH of an October 2011 trip!  The deciding factors: F&W fest + DH's b-day!

BF: "I dunno. Maybe if I get this job DVC is something we should look into."

That is so exciting!! What have you been feeding him? I hope he gets the job!

Yes, I too visited Hallmark to peruse their Disney plaques. Let me tell you I had FOUR in my hands. I made myself put three of them back. Then I cried for a little while. When the hissy fit was over I decided on this one. It now sits on my desk as a little Disney in every day.

Am I the only one who didn't know Hallmark had these right now?!? I need to make a trip to Hallmark! :moped:

First of all congrats to BF!! I will definitely be sending pixie dust and keeping my fingers crossed for him!!!! He is going to do great!!!

Thanks. That's what I told him.

I love that your are starting your packing!

I have to. Helps keep me sane. And BF sane. Because I talked a whole lot of Disney this weekend. And if I talk MORE Disney, I may start to reverse these incredible effects of...well whatever he's be taking as of late!

I often start strong and fizzle, though I've been getting better every time. I have high hopes to note the whole trip this time. We'll see...

Great family pictures! And I have to agree, your Mom looks like your sister!!! She looks fantastic!!

Thanks. She's got good genes. My grandmother looks young for her age too. And on my dad's side, his dad didn't have a gray hair on his head until he got very, very sick in his late 60's. Can only bode well for me, right? :thumbsup2

And :yay: for BF!!!! Keeping bodily appendages crossed!

Thanks. Don't hurt yourself. LOL ;)

Airfare is a killer for us too - last time we paid $330 pp rt - and that was the sale price!

So sad. The days of $100 RT are so over.

Am I the only one who didn't know Hallmark had these right now?!? I need to make a trip to Hallmark! :moped:

I'm sure you're not. I've just seen them on a few PTRs I'm reading. They have plaques, journals, mugs and paper weights. All very cute and pretty affordable! $9.99-$14.99 from what I saw.

When I first saw the top of these tissues I thought you had posted a pictures of Always (the greenish packaging looked similar). I thought, wow...she really will take a picture of EVERYTHING. :rotfl:

Your brother is such a cutie! But man, I'd look like the 50' woman standing next to his fiancé -- I'm 6'. And I thought my MIL was tiny (she's 5').

WOO! Congrats on the job interview. He's going to rock that interview's socks off!

Oh, and love the Hallmark sign. You have great taste! ;)
