Ahhhh...the last night of our staycation. It's bittersweet. It was a restful week, we're now under 30 days until our Disney trip, but...I know I have about 2 months of work to fit into the next 28 days.

Ok, normally I absolutelyabhor the term "staycation".......but I'll give it to you seeing as you're Tink.

That's right, I said 28 days!

Technically I have 27 until my actual vacation begins as I'm off on the Saturday before we leave (BF is not) but let's face it, the trip ticker is the 'be all, end all' in a DISer's world (and World).

You ain't kidding.....You'll notice mine is gone. Which doesn't mean my compass won't be pointing to Disney sometime next September. It just won't be pointing to POR. Because apparently there is something in the World that the Lego Clan wants even more..... Once the compass has its heading, the new ticker will make an appearance.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's rewind back a bit.

First, is there anything better than Disney mail? I think not. We received our Magical Express documents and luggage tags early last week and all of our package documents a few days later. Funny, I know how ME works and where I need to go and I know everything included in that package by heart and yet I still read every piece of documentation they sent along as if I were a first-timer.

You ARE rewinding! Didn't we already do this chapter?! Is there gonna be a quiz?!....is that why we're reviewing again!!?

Second, I'm still stalking an ADR at 'Ohana like a tween stalking Robert Pattinson. And still, no luck. The 'Ohana saga continues...

Really?? Was this a late decision or is this place really that hard to get in to?!

Hopefully I can get one more update in this week but don't hold me to it. I'm not quite sure exactly what I'll be walking into tomorrow.

Oh.

I love Mickey Mail. I'm waiting for one more piece and then I'll have everything - my Disney Rewards card loaded up with my Disney $$ for all of BF's junky apples.

I'll be buying both CT tickets here at home, and NY ones at work just to cover all the bases. I was looking at my Jet Blue points this weekend, and I actually do have enough points for a flight, so it is a possiblity for a weekend trip if I can talk my friend into going.

We've discussed it, and we are going to make a decision after the October race.

I'm now doing the same thing for the October trip. I'm not having much more luck than you, although I think the Cougars are a bit more tenacious stalking Pattinson. Those Twilight moms are a bit scary.

Third, I wasn't going to get any new clothes for this trip.

But I did. Old Navy had a lot of summer tops and bottoms on clearance. And I scored a 30% off code AND free shipping. So I placed an order. There are certain things that will definitely be going back since I got them in a couple of sizes, unsure of what would fit best. I also took a chance on a couple of cute tops. If they fit, yay! If not, gotta love free return shipping. I also got an ON red trench for my Carmen Sandiego costume, but my size was sold out online so I had to buy it in-store and without the discount. ARgh.

At least your intentions were good. Of course now you've made me want to go over to the ON site to check out the sale stuff when I've had no intention of buying anything new.

Finally, an update on the job situation with BF - his interview went really well...
BUT
He wasn't offered a permanent position. However, he is #1 on the list of alternates.

That's too bad, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for him!

BF has been with me to see all of the movies. Each and every time there were more women my age and older than there were teens. And each and every times Taylor Lautner's abs were in the spotlight the collective intake of breath in the theater was ridiculous. BF just rolls his eyes.

If I can convince her to do it, I'm pretty sure I'm in. I don't think that it's going to take much convincing. I'm hoping there will be some kind of a bounceback deal going on we can take advantage of, but it's definitely going to be a mini trip if we do. Maybe a meetup or dinner after the race?

No luck yet. I even tried making the ADR for 3. I'm wishing I had just made my ADR there from the begining.

...the DIS is the SECOND place you go to share good news (the first being your family and closest friends).

And so, our good news?

BF has been offered a permanent firefighter position pending his passing a medical exam (scheduled for this Friday), a hearing exam (scheduled for next Monday) and a Physical Abilities Test (to be scheduled upon passing the med. exams)!!!



This is so, so, so big for us and we're so excited! I'm so very proud of him.

I want to thank you all for your prayers and thoughts and ask you to keep them going just a little bit longer while we get through these last steps.

Now.

This is not exactly un-trip-related because it's trip related in a potentially HUGE way.

In that BF may not be able to come on the trip.

I KNOW.

Believe me, I so know.

Here's why. While the Academy would start on the Monday after we return from our trip (9/27/10), if there's anything that he cannot miss that occurs during the week OF the trip he's going to have to back out. We don't want him to miss out on this amazing opportunity when we could go to Disney any other time. Let's face it, Disney's not going anywhere (NOBenson'sAnimalFarm - for all of you Dane Cook fans).

Now, that won't make this a solo trip since his whole half is paid up and it would be silly to lose all that $$. I'll likely be asking my SIL-to-be to join me if it comes down to that. Which will still make for an absolutely AMAZING trip. BF insists he won't ask her for the cash (seriously? I'm in love with THE MAN) and we're pretty sure she could get the time off. If, for some reason, THAT doesn't work out then...well...let's not think about that bridge until we (hopefully don't) come to it, hmm?

BF has a meeting with the Fire Chief next week to go over some of the details, so I'm hoping he'll be able to clarify all of the dates then so nothing will be left up in the air.

I've never mentioned any of this before because things weren't really 'REAL' yet. And why mention that big of a wrench when the wrench itself might not even be REAL. Well, things just got REAL. And I honestly can't think of a 'better' reason for BF to have to back out of this trip.

I'll keep you all in the loop as things progress but seriously, everyone, thanks again for all of your support.

Oh absolutely. And we don't know for sure that this will affect the trip, we just know that it's a possibility. I'm crossing my fingers it's not an issue, as I'm so excited to be FINALLY going to Disney reason but really? It's a no-brainer.
